Re: Tube Workers to strike for five days
The Leader Nick Cash, has just been interviewed by Kay Burley on sky and she was not impressed with his reasoning.
The Strike period will be 2 days and 3 days . Apparently there are to be 1,000 redundancies and he says 800 Managers????? Anyway, Kay points out that the Underground has had millions spent on it over the last few years, most tube travellers use oyster cards and there are Staff around to advise Holidaymakers or travellers . Obviously this is going to affect so many people and it really is holding the Country to ransom , Cash says he wants BR to talk but Kay points out the talks led nowhere last time.

We only ever hear one side of the story Panda, whoever is threatening to strike. The management it seems is always right, the workers are all nasty greedy marxists yet we know this cannot always be true.
We, the public are continually being fed BS about such matters, the ideal example is the crud that Mitchell and Co' have put out about Madeleine's disappearance and they are still feeding the same tish to us 7 years down the line, the media as ever fall in line by broadcasting and printing it.

I disagree malena, many thousands of people from all walks of life lost their jobs since this Country went into recession , but that doesn't matter does it because they couldn't affect the Public being able to get to work , many employees taking time off work because they know it will be impossible to try.
There was a lot of meetings the last time this matter came up, ACAS , Boris Johnson , ASLEF failed to come to any kind of compromise. I remember the last time the Tube drivers went on strike, they wanted triple pay and a day off in lieu for working Boxing Day, the day the Shops rely on to make money.

I don't deny what you are saying Panda, however I believe very little of what is reported in the media, with very few exceptions it is a propaganda tool for whichever political party is in office...
(2001, Sept 11: 'a good day to bury bad news,' Jo Moore) another outstanding example....

Lets agree to differ on this malena , all I will say is "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely" and I hope all the Members are given a vote on whether to strike .

They usually are Panda, by law they have to be.. I remember the strikes Arthur Scargill caused and Miners in the small Welsh mining communities didn't want to strike.
