I don't understand why the local Planning Office didn't do anything until it was finished

Re: Family's Dream £500,000 home to be demolished for being too tall
You would have thought so as the building inspector is supposed to visit at regular intervals during the construction.
9' too long x 4' too wide x 6' too high is a massive increase in volume.
Thats probably at least 30% extra work and builders dont build you a house 30% bigger unless they're going to get paid extra for it.So no way can the owner plead ignorance, more like he hoped he'd get away with a bigger house.
Only got himself to blame.
Poor neighbours have had to put up with all the noise and dust already. Now its got to be knocked down and built properly.Thats three lots of inconvenience because someones been greedy and stupid.

It looks out of place there and there are other bungalows close by so that house is rather incongruous in that setting.

Dream home, it's more like the house from the Amityville Horror. I'm not surprised the Council want it demolished.

Quote from article
No one from builders Textura, who appear to have gone into liquidation, were available for comment.
Unquote.
Now there's a surprise....
There should be some form of recourse as the; builder/sub-contractors/surveyor/agent are paid to act as the home owner's facilitators in professional matters. the inspector was a tad slow in noticing the increased dimensions, but Lioned is probably right, the home owner may well have been hoping to get away with a few extras here and there...

There should be a bloodstained arm coming out the ground in the front garden.
