Re: Timeline of events in search for Madeleine/ITV
Thanks Annabel , this is interesting
anuary 29 - Scotland Yard detectives travel to Portugal following leads in their hunt for Madeleine McCann. The four officers are believed to be asking Portuguese Police to sanction the arrest and questioning of three suspects.
The same suspects SY wanted to search their Home I presume. This was January , yet Redwood waited until now to say his request was denied????
I woulnd't be at all surprised if this search is called off. Why couldn't the Portugese do it with British personnel concerned with the equipment, there really is no need for SY to pay for 6 staff .

Because that is not how it works. Its about continuity of Police observations in case this ever gets to Court (some hope I know). But Police work is all about diligence and continuity and the individual Police Officers involved, both on SY side and Portuguese side, all have to be observers so that continuity is maintained.

Hi LJC, I'm smiling because here we have two Police Forces who have cost their Governments a fortune on one missing child , neither producing any evidence of note, yet they still have to go through the notion of diligence .!!! Will all this expense yield anything , or will the Portugese cancel the search and finally close the case ?

I'm not sure that the Portuguese can in effect close an SY investigation. They perhaps can close their own case and leave SY to get on with their own review but without co-operation between the two countries SY would be up a stream without a paddle. I think if the case is closed it will be with the agreement of both the Portuguese and SY.

Close a case because the two reopened (needed evidence to do this, significant according to the Portuguese Judiciary) investigations haven't told forum land what they have got!?
Say what you like about Clarence but i think he has done a cracking job

That's spot on Matthew. We are not privy to what they are up to and what they may have. That's the way it should be.

Exactly Matthew. Portugal are playing their cards close to their chest and I believe SY are also doing the same. We are being fed little tit bits and forum land are shouting from the roof tops what should and should not be done. I believe the two sides will sort this out in the fullness of time.

Surely it's evident that the SY 'police source' leaks have come from the NOT SUSPECTS via a certain PR consultant & they wouldn't lie to the NOT SUSPECTS...Would they?
