McCanns suffer setback in Libel Trial - Portugal Resident
As Praia da Luz is once more dragged into the media spotlight, Kate and Gerry McCann have suffered a legal setback in their long running campaign to sue the former police chief Gonçalo Amaral who originally led investigations into their daughter’s disappearance. Kate and Gerry McCann instituted legal proceedings for €1.2 million worth of damages after Amaral wrote the book “The Truth of the Lie”, in which he set out all his reasons for believing that Madeleine was dead. It is a belief that now seems to be shared by the police teams painstakingly searching scrubland outside the village from which Madeleine went missing seven years ago. But at the time they began their legal fight, the McCanns were adamant that there was no proof that their daughter was dead. They claimed they suffered “permanent anxiety, insomnia, lack of appetite, irritability and an indefinable fear” as a result of Amaral’s book. They further described themselves as “irreparably damaged and totally destroyed from a moral, social, ethical, emotional and family point of view” and thus the lawsuit, which finally came to court in September last year after endless delays. Now, a tactical attempt by Amaral to query the McCanns’ power to represent their daughter in the court action has been upheld by a Lisbon judge. It now means that the McCanns effectively have to get permission from the British High Court to represent their daughter in any legal action. Nonetheless, the Lisbon court has said that a final session can go ahead on June 16 - although all the lawyers involved have been given notice that they can “suggest alternative dates”. The final court session will include a statement from Madeleine’s father and “the presentation of closing arguments from all sides”. As Amaral’s defence lawyer has told the press on numerous occasions, information that fo

When they wanted to get those files they made her a WOC.
Now they want money, they conveniently push that aside.
And who do they blame...Mr Amaral.

Surely you don't expect them to take any blame or responsibility themselves, kitti? Narcissists don't do blame taking, pulling wings off flies, hanging others out to dry and kissing mirrors is more their forte.

Thank you for posting this information Karen Kudos to the 'Portuguese Resident' for printing this article.
The McCanns brains must have been addled when they took out this lawsuit against Goncalo Amaral, the publisher of his book and the documentary maker. They'd already tried and failed to get Snr. Amaral's book permanently banned and this is because the Judges in the Appeals and Supreme Court, had made a judgment that there was nothing in Snr. Amaral's book, that warranted a permanent ban. How could they possibly think they could win this lawsuit? There is nothing in Snr. Amaral's book, that isn't in the PJ files.
How the McCanns can say that Snr. Amaral's book has caused them suffering is beyond me. If ever there was a time the McCanns would have suffered from all the things they say Snr Amaral's book has caused them to suffer, they would have suffered from those things, from the minute Kate McCann, supposedly discovered Madeleine missing.
Let's hope the Judge, finds for Snr. Amaral and the other defendants, when she reaches her verdict. If the McCanns are never going to be prosecuted for the part they played in Madeleine's disappearance, at least they will be stopped from making any more money out of Madeleine.
The McCanns have brought misery to Snr. Amaral and his family for 7yrs and this is another reason why the Judge must find in favour of Snr. Amaral and the other defendants.

Hi Kitti
I agree with you, hopefully the Judge will see what we have seen for the past 7yrs and find in favour of Snr. Amaral and the other defendants.

Hi Malena
Hopefully the outcome of this lawsuit, will be the beginning of the end of the 'gruesome twosome's reign', as victims in Madeleine's disappearance.

My hopes also kathybelle, but I doubt they will ever have to answer in a court of law for child abandonment at the very least. They do seem to be teflon coated for some reason.kathybelle wrote:malena stool wrote:Surely you don't expect them to take any blame or responsibility themselves, kitti?
