Kate and Gerry McCann are fearful about going to Lisbon for a libel trial because of more bizarre behaviour from Goncalo Amaral.

The parents of missing Madeleine McCann fear yet more heartache when they arrive in Portugal tomorrow (Tuesday) for the often-adjourned case.

The last time they went to Lisbon the proceedings were postponed at the last minute when Amaral dismissed his lawyer inside the court, leaving Kate and Gerry fuming outside.

But they remain hopeful of winning the defamation case against Amaral over his claim in a banned book that Madeleine died in an accident in 2007 and they subsequently hid the body.

Amaral's unorthodox tactics in his defence have not stopped, with Madeleine's family being told his new lawyer cannot be contacted because he doesn't use 'phone or email.'

Being unable to contact the other party hampers efforts to prepare for the case.

A source close to Madeleine's parents said: "Kate and Gerry have been told Mr Amaral has appointed a new lawyer but he doesn't use email or phone. How he can operate like this in the modern era is beyond belief.

"They wouldn't be surprised if Mr Amaral pulls another stunt to try and stall the case yet again."

Despite the risk of being stood up in court again, the McCanns do intend to travel to Lisbon for the hearing on Tuesday.

Family spokesman Clarence Mitchell added: "Kate and Gerry are planning to attend court on Tuesday as required by the judge.

"They believe they have a very strong case against Mr Amaral and they expect to win their claim."

The McCanns are suing Amaral for libel over his book 'The Truth of the Lie,' which is banned from publication in Britain because of its incendiary claim that Kate and Gerry know what happened to Madeleine.

its amazing how much the McCs find out about Dr Amaral and his lawyer. Im quite sure Dr. Amaral is capable of conversing with his lawyer in one way or another.

Maybe Amaral doesn't have any means of communication because the McCanns had all of his assets frozen?

The McCanns are idiots if they expect to win their baseless claim.

Of course the McCanns will enjoy another free trip to sunny Portugal courtesy of the "Find Madeleine" fund. Sadly, money that was donated to actually search for Madeleine is being used to sue anyone who does not believe the McCann fairy story. When will this circus end?

JUST ON: Sky news - Kate and Gerry have arrived - Martin Brunt met them at the airport. He spoke to Gerry, Gerry stated he hopes THIS time he can be heard and stated they they are looking for juctice for Madeleine, Amelie and Sean. Martin asked if he THINKS he will be heard, to which Gerry replied with a smirk "we will have to wait and see Martin"

Also Goncalo Amaral has an email address, he is a member of Facebook and every Facebook member has to have an email address. His lawyer will also have an email address.

What a pity Dominic Gover didn't do some proper research, before he wrote his article. Or maybe he did and chose to put inaccurate statements in his article, because he wants to portray Goncalo Amaral in a bad light, which is something that is portrayed in the British media on an almost daily basis, at this moment in time.

In my opinion, anyone who has and still is supporting the McCanns, is a supporter of child abuse. Madeleine disappearance was caused by child abuse whether it was by neglect or by some other means. Sean and Amelie, are also suffering from child abuse, because the McCanns have filled their head with their lies.

It won't be too long before these children find out the truth and I can only imagine how they will take it, they will need professional help for years. I can only hope that the professionals, are not McCann friendly people.

The first two times GM attended the judge hadn't decided whether she would allow them to make a statement and his attendance was his choice - only one adjournment prevented them speaking.

Brunty is a big joke! When Amaral was going into court, he couldn't even get it right which side he was on. "Mr Amaral is the one on the right", when he was the one on the left!

Have the McCanns gone in the back entrance, seen Amaral arriving but not them yet, or have I missed them?

Ah, might that latest inaccuracy be to explain something else entirely? Could be that the last sudden cancellation of the hearing last month was actually known to TM?
Except not as an sms or email? Just wondering. They have a history of confusing one set of circumstances with another.

I wouldn't put it past them to have gone to Lisbon knowing full well that there'd be no hearing and decided to use it as an example of GA's strange behaviour. That way they had a full performance of their martyrdom on the steps of the court and the publicity they wanted. (pointing finger at GA Ít's all his fault!!).

Should it come out in court today that this delay was made known to TM it can be blamed on not enough postage on the letter or the Royal Mail. However, not TM, but Duarte would have been informed imo. So how hard would that be?
