Yes, he has been told that he must appear, but his defence lawyers are saying that this breaches his human rights.

I'm getting fed up with these human rights. I see now that murderers can't be named when they are on the run but celebrities can be named and shamed just by being under suspicion, whether they are guilty or not

I wonder why that is Anna? perhaps there is no one to walk the dog whilst he is there.

Yes, and he might not be able to have his afternoon tea at precisely 4 o'clock!

Absolutely Anna, I never thought of that. The poor man cannot be deprived of his cup of Earl Grey and his scone. It is an absolute infringement of his human rights

Oh yes Anna and the cream! It is impossible for him to appear in court taking all into consideration. I am almost feeling sorry for the man, what an ordeal it would be.

Fuzeta, it seems that he did appear in court after the judge threatened to have him arrested.

Yep, for less than a minute! If he's guilty then he's an evil bastard but given his (apparent) state of health, is any of this really going to be worthwhile. I imagine the victims will think so but if he can't actually remember any of it and doesn't understand why he's in court then it's not exactly a victory.
I can't help thinking it would be better to be spending money on preventing it happening to more young, vulnerable people by some of the depraved scum walking our streets at the moment.

Re: Janner !
Hello Angelina I get what you are saying but how do we know he cannot remember any of it? It seems many people like him have lost their memories, very convenient. He can still remember he has a seat in the House of Lords though. I know what you mean about the money but in my opinion he should still be brought to justice. The Nazi war criminals were brought to court, no matter how old and supposedly senile they were or pretended to be. Still spouting that it was not their fault.
Anyway at least we have a Judge with a bit of sense, pity we don't have more of them.

Re: Janner !
If he's well eough to tell his family he didn't do it he's well enough to go to court and he's well enough to go down where he deserves, but he won't off course, he will prob die and his family will blame the system and then will try to sue them.

Hi Fuzzy, I agree his loss of memory is very convenient. Of course, with him supposedly having dementia it can't be proved one way or the other whether he can remember or not. He could easily pretend he can't remember anything and his legal team will use that as a defence.....how can anyone be found guilty when they can't answer the charges or put up any sort of defence. It's win win for him imo.

Quite likely Kitti!

Re: Janner !
Hi all here, I think dementia is a very complicated condition ,what works for one person ,doesn't work for all. I have had 2 very elderly friends and really the short term one is one thing , but when it gets really bad ,it affects a lot more than memory as we would see it . I am not making excuses for him at all ,I do not know the situation at this time for him.I would think if he had to be examined by a specialist before he could appear in court ,we would have a better picture. joyce1938

His 58 seconds off suffering is nothing compared to his victims lifetime off suffering ...

Absolutely kitti!! While people are banging on about his human rights, no one seems worried about the lifelong human rights of the victims. Women for example, who are traumatised for life after being raped. They and many others who have been through that are in a mental prison effectively for the rest of their lives. For a young lad to be sodomised, I can't imagine the stress. The perpetrators often get away with it altogether.
