A company set up by Kate and Gerry McCann to fund the search for their daughter has had a boost in profits.
“Find Madeleine – Leaving No Stone Unturned” has more than £800,000 in assets, after making nearly £100,000 in the past year.
The company recorded losses in recent years as donations dwindled.
But its coffers have now swelled to £823,332 – partly due to proceeds from Kate’s book about Madeleine’s disappearance.
She donated £84,096 in royalties.
The former GP wrote “Madeleine” in 2011 to raise funds for the search and the book remains a best-seller.
Find Madeleine... was set up by the couple in 2007 to manage the public money that flooded in.
The 2018 figure is up by nearly £100,000 on the previous year.
The company’s main activity is to “secure the safe return to her family of Madeleine McCann”.
Scotland Yard’s investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance from an apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007, aged three, has so far cost £11.75million.
The boost to the fund to find Madeleine comes just weeks after the parents of Madeleine McCann said they will never give up hope in the search for their daughter.
In a brief but poignant festive message, Kate and Gerry thanked all their supporters for their “kind and continuing good wishes” and say they “dearly miss” Maddie.
They urged: "May 2019 be a peaceful and positive one for us all.”

Why do you need to form a company to look for someone?

Indeed "WHY?" There are so many "WHY's" about this case, I don't know where to begin. How about, 'Why did Kate call her mother (who was in another country) late at night to tell her Madeline was "gone" if she was only missing?'. Surely at that early point as a parent you would expect she would turn up soon and near by; there would be no need to alarm elderly grandparents; unless of course you knew Madeleine was truly "gone".

To claim expenses seems about the only logical reason.... But, if it was a family member then you'd do it for free.... Wouldn't you???? Providing it wasn't dark when you had to look... Or it didn't involve answering those pesky questions posed by the police
The Charities Commission refusal of a Charity Status might be another reason though....
