THE scientist who helped crack the Stephen Lawrence and Damilola Taylor cases has vowed to help find Madeleine McCann.
Angela Gallop CBE said she isn't "daunted" by the case but admitted it would be "extraordinarily difficult" to solve.
Professor Gallop found the vital evidence that solved the deaths of Stephen Lawrence and Damilola Taylor and put their killers behind bars.
The forensic biologist, 69, now wants to solve the disappearance of Madeleine, who was three when she vanished from her parents’ holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal in 2007.
She told the Sunday Times Magazine: "It would be extraordinarily difficult because it's in a different country and you don't know what's happened to the exhibits.
"I've been involved in cases where it looks hopeless, so I'm not too daunted by anything these days. Every contact leaves a trace, it's just finding it."
In 2006 Gallop's team discovered the evidence that led to the convictions of the Presside brothers for the manslaughter of Damilola Taylor in 2000.
The original forensic scientists on the case missed a blood stain on a pair of trainers that matched Damilola's DNA.
Embedded in it was a textile fibre that matched fibres from Damilola's jumper, which meant it must have been transferred when his blood was wet.
In January 2012 Gary Dobson and David Norris were found guilty of Stephen Lawrence's 1993 murder on the basis of new forensic evidence produced by Gallop and her team.
The team analysed the clothes Lawrence wore on the day he was murdered and examined garments belonging to the suspects.
On the back of Dobson's jacket they found a tiny blood stain that matched Lawrence's profile, as well as tiny pieces of his hair on another piece of clothing.
Three-year-old Madeleine vanished from a Portuguese holiday apartment in Praia da Luz nearly 12 years ago.
She had been left alone sleeping with the twins while her parents were dining with pals in a nearby tapas restaurant. She would now be 15.

Are we really expected to believe that she will crack the case? The McCanns are so well protected that she is more likely to disappear than the case be solved.

Angela Gallop CBE, is more likely to find evidence of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Baghdad than any evidence concerning Madeleine that isn't covered by D Notice restrictions. The establishment has already been there and sorted it.
