Em Portugal desaparecem, em média, dois menores por dia. Hoje lança-se o novo número de telefone de alerta: 116 000.
Em Portugal desaparecem todos os dias, em média, pelo menos duas crianças ou jovens até aos 18 anos. A maioria é recuperada. Mas sem paradeiro certo encontram-se ainda 26, que a Polícia Judiciária (PJ) acredita encontrar a qualquer momento.
Em 2008, desapareceram 148 crianças, dos zero aos 12 anos. Destas, encontram-se duas ainda sem paradeiro certo. Dos 13 aos 18 anos, foram 526, estando também dois adolescentes por recuperar. Este ano, até Abril, só na região de Lisboa, desapareceram 24, dos zero aos 12 anos, todos já recuperados. Na mesma região e no mesmo período, registaram-se 304 casos, dos 13 aos 18 anos, estando 22 ainda desaparecidos. Neste momento, as autoridades procuram o paradeiro de, pelo menos, 26 crianças e jovens, mantendo em memória os enigmáticos casos Maddie, a criança inglesa desaparecida em 2007, e Rui Pedro, em 1998.
Este dois casos estremeceram o país, mas são raros. A maior parte dos desaparecimentos ocorre em instituições de acolhimento, em que 80% são reincidentes.
Em Dia Internacional da Criança Desaparecida, o Ministério da Administração Interna dá a conhecer hoje o 11 600, o número telefónico europeu para crianças sem rasto. Já aderiram 11 países e o atendimento, em Portugal, é no Instituto de Apoio à Criança.

Portugal disappear every day, on average, at least two children or young people up to 18 years. Most are recovered. But not sure whereabouts are still 26, the Judicial Police (PJ) believes find at any time.
In 2008, missing 148 children, from zero to 12 years. Of these, are still without two true whereabouts. 13 to 18 years were 526, two teenagers are also to be recovered. This year, until April, just in the Lisbon region, lost 24, the zero to 12 years, all have recovered. In the same region and in the same period, there were 304 cases, 13 to 18 years, with 22 still missing. Currently, the authorities seek the whereabouts of at least 26 children and young people, keeping in memory the puzzling cases Maddie, the British child disappeared in 2007, and Rui Pedro in 1998.
The two cases shake the country, but are rare. Most disappearances occur in the host institutions, in which 80% are repeat offenders.
On International Day of Missing Children, the Ministry of Internal Affairs gives a 11 600 today, the European telephone numbers for children without trace. Already 11 countries have joined and service in Portugal is at the Institute of Child Support.
