catholics ?
just wondered which service the duo go to every sunday back home - "the devout catholics" must surely be well known at the local rothley r.c church.

Do wonder what the Vatican really things about what happened to Madeleine. Strange I thought, that the Mcs did not have a private audience with the Pope when all said and done they made a special trip to Rome to see him.

I think they thought they were going to have a private audience when they made a big deal with their send-off from Praia da Luz and their photos from the plane. Then they were just another two people in the line-up to kiss the Pope's ring.
Re: catholics ?
Gerry, in particular, would be what I call a "political Catholic" - i.e. the main focus of their Catholicism is that they hate Protestants. Where he grew up in Glasgow is every bit as bad as Belfast. Hence the yellow-and-green theme - the "colours of Portugal" are actually green and red. Yellow and green are the colours of Celtic Football Club. And "The Colours" are important to Glaswegian Catholics (green and gold) and Protestants (orange and blue).
He is no "devout" Catholic. If he were, he would have stuck pins in his eyes before renting a Protestant Church for his rememberance service (IIRC it was bigger than the RC Church, and more photogenic). It is all just so bloody false, it makes me want to puke.
