So are they here?
The McCanns that is of course? I haven't seen them arrive on any news channel either Brit or portuguese, usually they are followed out of the airport by a film crew and it's reported every 10 minutes, not seen anything except they supposed to be coming, was wondering if they had come out of the VIP area part of Portela airport and avoided the plebs, or if it is a smoke screen and they aren't attending at all this time?

I thought this was supposed to be a "private" visit - and their itinerary wasn't being disclosed??

I read they have requested privacy. so presumably their arrival won't be greeted by a brass band and red carpet.

I think they're a bit worried that it might be a red carpet of carnations!
Re: So are they here?
And a brass band playing " Go Home You Bums". Better to slip in under the radar. I'm sure all our Portuguese friends are keeping their eyes peeled

Well the last time they came, they came through the airport doors that everyone comes through except the VIPs, they had to run the gauntlet of journalists and a film crew, I was just wondering if their celeb level had upped a notch and they were now VIPs and were whisked through? I'm in two minds if tomorrow we find out that they won't be attending.

Hi Anna, wouldn't be the first time they slunk out of Portugal.

I'm not saying it isn't true, but this time there has been no live footage at all, just gerry in his brown jumper looking grim!! (From the last time) no rolling news like their usually is on both countries channels, reporting every move. Hmm is this a good sign or not? I'd say the Mcs (if they are here) are saving their selves for the "action day" (tomorrow) Good luck Amaral!

Re: So are they here?
The McCanns arrive at Lisbon Airport
The couple are in the Portuguese capital for a three-day hearing at which they will seek £1m in compensation and a final ruling preventing Goncalo Amaral from repeating claims he made about them.
The lawsuit had originally been due to be heard in December, but had to be postponed after Mr Amaral's lawyer was taken ill.
Mr Amaral was in charge of the investigation launched when Madeleine McCann disappeared shortly before her fourth birthday during a family holiday in Praia da Luz in May 2007.
He was taken off the case the following October after criticising British police in a newspaper interview.
Mr and Mrs McCann were named by police as "arguidos", or suspects, but that status was lifted when the investigation was shelved in July 2008.
The same month, Mr Amaral published a book called Maddie: The Truth Of The Lie, in which he claimed the youngster was dead and called into question the McCanns' account that she had been abducted.
A Portuguese judge granted an injunction in September last year banning its further sale or publication.
The former policeman was also prohibited from repeating his claims about Madeleine or her parents.
Arriving at Lisbon Airport, Mr McCann said: "We're just here to continue the search for Madeleine, and to protect our own family, and their human rights.
"No-one can be allowed to say that our daughter can't be found without very good evidence. That's what this court case is about."
Mrs McCann said: "We're looking for justice."
The couple, both 41, from Rothley, Leicestershire, are not expected to give evidence during the hearings, although they are thought to be planning to attend them all.
They have previously said any money awarded in damages by the courts would go towards paying for private investigators to look for their daughter.

He doesn't have to repeat them. Sky News and the newspapers are doing it for him!

Does Gerry look happy and confident? He has that sleezy
grin that says 'I know a secret' .... catch me if you can, IMO.
God, I hope by the end of the week it is wiped off his smug
face.

I think those two are so close that the only time she stood by her man was when they were being interviewed or photographed.

Rita, the picture makes me sick, he thinks he is some sort of movie star. Nice use of punctuation by the writer, though.
What Gerry probably meant was -
"No-one can be allowed to say that our daughter can't be found, without very good evidence. That's what this court case is about." (Note placement of comma).
The way it has been written though, is quite correct. She probably CAN'T be found without very good evidence. That's why he's looking so bloody smug.
OMG, can you honestly imagine waking up with that man in your bed every morning! I'd have run away or topped myself or something by now. I don't know how Kate can stand it.

I'd rather not, actually, I've just had my breakfast!

He looks as though he has won the lottery and is off on his jollies.
No, I cannot think of anything worse than waking up next to him. Fancy having that nose hooking round the door everyday
