The mother of an 18-month-old toddler who was killed when a car mounted a footpath and crashed into them remains in a critical condition.
Jayden Bloomer suffered multiple injuries in the accident yesterday afternoon in Accrington, Lancashire, and died later in hospital.
His 30-year-old mum Jackie continued to be cared for at the Royal Preston Hospital.
The pair had been on their way to pick up Mrs Bloomer's five-year-old son from school at the time of the crash.
The 89-year-old male driver of the vehicle was also killed.
It is believed he lost control of the car after falling ill at the wheel.
Police were still trying to piece together what happened and have asked any witnesses to contact them.
"This is a tragic incident and our thoughts go out to both families involved," said Sergeant Pete Sculpher, from Accrington Road Policing Unit.
"The collision happened on one of the busiest roads in Accrington at a time when many people would be picking children up from school.
"I would ask anyone that saw anything to come forward and speak to police."
:: Witnesses should call Lancashire Police on 08451 253 545 or 01254 51212.

IF she wakes up and recovers, (and I hope she does), she is going to be so happy to be alive for that split second then she will learn that her beloved little boy has died
Rest in peace Jayden x
