Am I in some sort of parallel universe? Is this woman saying they shouldnt have been prosecuted for what they did?
I think the law should be left alone. 10 is the right age imo. These 2 should have been kept in an adult prison until they were old enough to be assessed properly. I dont know where they were kept, but I know someone who used to work in a young offenders institute, and believe me this is nothing like a proper prison. They should have been made to serve time in a cat A prison and then been assessed, before they they were released.

How disgusting is that!! What are these evil people all about?
It makes me despair for the world we live in. Thank goodness
they are outnumbered by good moral folks who genuinely care.

I know where one of them was kept. I went there once to have a look round with a view to applying for a job. Having worked in quite a few children's homes by that time, I can tell you that ***** House had very good facilities for entertainment, relaxation and education. The young people's rooms are locked at night, but apart from that, the place does not resemble a jail in any way.
I really can't work out what that stupid woman is trying to say. That they should have been taken before the equivalent of a Scottish Children's Panel? That they should not have been held criminally responsible since she wanted the age of criminal responsibility raised? If both were kept in units like ***** House, then they were never treated harshly and the fact that Venables has breached the terms of his licence is proof, for me, that he has not changed or been "rehabilitated."
Re: James Bulger murderer Jon Venables returned to prison
VENABLES MAY NOT BE CHARGED WITH CHILD PORN...SO IT SEEMS HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE LIKES AND GET AWAY WITH IT.
WHAT A FUKING FARCE THIS COUNTRY IS.
HE GOT AWAY WITH DEALING COKE AND GOT A SLAP ON THE WRIST..NOW THIS.....
I GUARANTEE THAT HIS FACE IS PROBABLY KNOWN, AFTER ALL, HES BOASTING IN PRISON ABOUT WHO HE IS....
IT DOESNT MATTER ABOUT HIS NEW IDENTITY....HIS FACE WILL BE KNOWN.

Kitti,
I guess if Venables were to be charged, there would be a risk of his identity being revealed and those nasty vigilantes who would like to kick the shoite out of the sick, evil, perverted individual might be able to find him.

I just wish we still had hanging in this country for sick, vile scumbags such as these two. I don't see why our taxes should be spent on protecting them. My husband has just be working in a category A prison and I could not believe the privilages these scum get. Plasma screen tvs set into the walls, play stations, swimming pools. It makes me sick.

Re: James Bulger murderer Jon Venables returned to prison
If a child commits a disgusting crime like these two did then they should be put into a place for young offenders till they are 18 then TRIED FOR THE CRIME IN AN ADULT COURT....simple as that, then they should be put away for LIFE....AND I MEAN LIFE.

I think an apology to Denise Fergus is the very least that we should expect!

Re: James Bulger murderer Jon Venables returned to prison
James Bulger killer Jon Venables moved to safer jail.
The Mirror
"JON Venables has been transferred to a new jail to keep him safe from other prisoners.
Venables, 29, killer of two-year-old James Bulger, was moved at the weekend because he was in serious danger from inmates who had learned his identity.
He's now being kept in an isolation unit and guarded by a hand-picked team of 20 prison officers who are sworn to secrecy. A source said: It was getting harder to guarantee his safety where he was. No one can get at him where he is now.
The move came as James's mum Denise Fergus called for Children's Commissioner Dr Maggie Atkinson to be sacked for dismissing her sons murder as unpleasant.
Dr Atkinson said Venables and co-killer Robert Thompson were too young at 10 to have been prosecuted.
PRISON officers guarding Jon Venables have put in place an astonishing security regime to stop other inmates getting to him.
Venables, 27, was moved to a new high security jail at the weekend amid fears he was in serious danger from prisoners who had learned he was the infamous killer of two-year-old James Bulger.
He's now being kept in strict isolation in a sealed unit that stops any possible contact with other inmates. He is watched 24hours a day and his every move is monitored by CCTV.
A hand-picked team of 20 officers are guarding Venables. They refer to him only by his prison number and have been ordered not to identify him. A source at the new prison said: "He has been brought here because we have the experience of dealing with high-risk prisoners.
The move was in Venables best interests. It was getting harder to guarantee his safety where he was as more and more prisoners realised who he was.
It was soon accepted he needed 24/7 observation to make sure he didn't come to harm where he was, which was looking more and more likely. No one can get at him where he is now."
The Prison Service has gone to extraordinary lengths to keep Venables's presence secret. The special jail isolation unit is one of only four in the UK. The source said: "Bosses have been desperate to keep his arrival quiet, but its almost impossible.
His day is regimented. He does not so much as cross paths with any other prisoner.During the day two officers are on duty in his dedicated area. At night it is just one officer.
One entrance to the unit has been sealed, so there is just one way in and out. In his cell is a toilet and sink. Outside, but within the unit, he has access to a TV, washing machine, fridge, bathroom, shower and toilet.
He's allowed out of his cell only when two officers are on duty. CCTV films the whole area and his every movement is watched from the prisons emergency control room. Observation is 24/7."
The new jail is a significant distance from the prison where Venables was being held after he was returned to custody for allegedly breaching the terms of his prison release by having child pornography. The officers guarding him have been carefully vetted. They will work on days off so the everyday regime is not affected.
The jail source said: "If prison life was disrupted at Venables expense, the other inmates would cause merry hell. He is known by a number, not a name here. But the officers are all aware of who he is.
He gets fresh air in the main healthcare exercise yard when every other prisoner is secure inside. The corridor he uses to access the yard is sealed with no other movement allowed.
His food is either brought to his unit or he is permitted to get it when again every other prisoner is secure inside."
The location of the prison now housing Venables is being kept a strict secret.
Venables and accomplice Robert Thompson were aged 10 when they were convicted of murdering James in 1993.
They abducted him from a shopping centre in Bootle, Merseyside. His mutilated body was found on a rail line."

How long can they keep that up for? FFS! When are they going to accept that his 'rehabilitation' program wasn't successful? Nine years in relative comfort for a heinous crime does not teach a child right from wrong. They were not punished for their crimes - it's as simple as that.
Imagine how Denise Fergus must feel reading all these reports.

Not too hard to imagine Minsky. And now we are told that Venables basically has a secure unit to himself with 20 officers dedicated to his protection. How much is that costing? His years in relative comfort in the children's unit would have cost a few thousand a week.

What I can't understand is while they are arguing about the why's an wherefors of the trial, whether it was an adult court or not - they still only served nine years in a children's unit. It obviously hasn't worked for Venables, yet they are still bleating on about raising the limit to twelve years. Are they now suggesting that they shouldn't have served time at all?
Surely this presents a clear case for longer sentences being imposed and keeping the age limit as it is, not a shorter or non existent one and increasing the limit. I do wonder what planet these people are on sometimes. Something goes woefully wrong and they they're all rushing about making excuses for a poor system and attempting to make it even worse.
Did anyone see the Tonight programme? I am curious to know about the case mentioned; in Norway there was a little 5 year old girl who was beaten to death by two six year old boys. According to the report, the boys were back in school within days and there was no furore or hysteria about it at all. There was a shot of the little girls grave, covered in teddybears - really sad. The inference was that that Norway have got it right and we are behind the times - yadda yadda. Yeah right, I bet the parents of the little girl have other ideas.

What on earth is the world coming to? A five-year-old girl beaten to death and her killers, who are just slightly older, are back at school within days? What kind of message does that send? There there boys, it's OK, we don't hold it against you. Nothing to get worked up about! Those two children should be being carefully assessed because something's not right and how can anyone just pat them on the head, metaphorically speaking, and move on when a child is dead? What is happening to children when two small boys actually beat a little girl to death?
I was out yesterday with some of my family, including my daughter's partner, who is a teacher. He told me that the head teacher had stated that under no circumstances were staff to make physical contact with pupils and if they did, he would not back them up if there were complaints. My daughter's partner was outraged. He asked the head about a vicious fight he and a colleague had broken up just a few days before, when one boy was getting seriously hurt. The head said they should not have intervened.
We are becoming frightened to discipline children, both in our homes, in public, and in our schools. I was the subject of an investigation when a boy complained about an incident in which he cut his finger. The incident involved the boy hitting me over the head with a metal chair when I asked him to switch off his mobile phone and he cut his finger on a sharp edge of the chair!

It's ridiculous isn't it. I was walking my dog one night when two lads about eight or nine threw their empty coke tins on the floor and one started to urinate on someone's garden gate. (we live in what is considered to be a good area btw)
"Pick 'em up pls' I said
'F*ck off' the smaller of the two replied, tucking himself back into in jeans.
"I won't ask again, I know where you live and I'll call the police and tell them what you just did' Ii said, growing irritated by the second.
"Go on..' said the urinator 'cos we'll just say you molested us and I peed myself with fright'
Good eh?
I dread growing old, in this selfish, me me me society we have now.

What a waste of money. Are they just going to let him of now?? Protect him even further
and inflict him on society again?
I'd say stick him in the gutter where he belongs and let him fend for himself.
