GARDAI are appealing for help in tracing three missing people.

Declan McNally (32) has been missing from his home at Clontibret, Co Monaghan since last Tuesday.

His family last night said he had not made any contact with relations, friends or his girlfriend, which, they said, was completely "out of character".

Mr McNally, a tiler who plays with the Cremartin GAA Club, left home driving a white Vauxhall Astra van, registration INZ 7686.

Gary Carville, a Fine Gael councillor from Castleblayney and former chair of Monaghan GAA County Board, who knows Mr McNally, said: "I am just hoping and praying everything will be all right and that he would make contact with the family. The family are a very decent family and well known and well respected in the area."

Gardai in Monaghan have appealed for anyone who spotted either Mr McNally or the white van to contact them on 047 77200. The missing man is described as being 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in in height, of slim build with short brown hair.

In Dublin, officers are attempting to trace a teenager who vanished three weeks ago.

Marissa Byrne (17) was last seen in the seaside town of Balbriggan around 10.30pm on Friday, November 2.

She is described as being 5ft 8in, with brown eyes and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, pink tracksuit bottoms and white runners with a pink stripe.

Gardai have appealed to anyone with information to contact Balbriggan garda station on 01 8020510.

In Mayo, as snow fell and temperatures plunged, officers appealed for anyone who may have seen Paddy Murphy (50) to contact them.

Mr Murphy, from Cashel, Cloghans, Ballina, was last seen at around 10.30pm on Garden Street in the Co Mayo town last Thursday. He was spotted walking towards traffic lights at the junction of Pearse Street and O'Rahilly Street.

Helicopter

A search party was yesterday checking areas around Ballina town. On Saturday, an Irish Coast Guard helicopter used its infrared device in the search.

Mr Murphy was last seen wearing a grey zip-up anorak with black shoulders, black trousers, brown shoes and a white shirt. He has receding dark hair, is 5ft 7in in height and weighs around 12 stone.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Murphy on Thursday night, or who has any information about his whereabouts, to ring them on 096 20560.

Anyone with information can contact any station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
