The dragon was actually slain during an attempted abduction by a Scottish dragon purveyor.

Let me tell you a story. This is about the Tao Goddess, Kwon Yin.

Now, it starts with a warrior, whose name I do not recall, but he was a mighty warrior, and when he died, the Tao Gods took him into the first level of the Tao Heavens. There are many levels of Tao Heavens, just as there are many levels of Tao hells.

Now, this warrior's job, since he was such a mighty warrior, was to kill all the Hell Creatures who were constantly rising up from the Tao hells into the Tao Heavens. Every day, he would ride out on his mighty horse, with his lance, his sword and that bobbly thing with spikes on and he would kill every Hell Creature.

One day, the most fierce, huge, ugly Hell Creature you could ever imagine rose up. The warrior rode out and a ferocious battle ensued. It went on and on and on and the warrior was becoming exhausted, but finally the Hell Creature sank to the ground and the warrior lifted his lance to strike the death blow. As he did so, he looked into the Hell Creature's eyes and in that moment, he attained enlightenment. As he met the Hell Creature's eyes, he realised that all creatures share the same emotions of love and fear.

Now, he could have been raised to the highest levels of the Tao Heavens, but instead he chose to be reincarnated as the Goddess Kwon Yin, whose job it is to protect all the creatures until they attain enlightenment.

Thanks Anna................Here's a story of how Saint George 'met his end' and became a martyr.

In the year AD 302, Diocletian (influenced by Galerius) issued an edict that every Christian soldier in the army should be arrested and every other soldier should offer a sacrifice to the Pagan gods. But George objected and with the courage of his faith approached the Emperor and ruler. Diocletian was upset, not wanting to lose his best Tribune and the son of his best official, Gerontius. George loudly renounced the Emperor's edict, and in front of his fellow soldiers and Tribunes he claimed himself to be a Christian and declared his worship of Jesus Christ. Diocletian attempted to convert George, even offering gifts of land, money and slaves if he made a sacrifice to the Pagan gods. The Emperor made many offers, but George never accepted.


Recognizing the futility of his efforts, Diocletian was left with no choice but to have him executed for his refusal. Before the execution George gave his wealth to the poor and prepared himself. After various torture sessions, including laceration on a wheel of swords in which he was resuscitated three times, George was executed by decapitation before Nicomedia's city wall, on April 23, 303. A witness of his suffering convinced Empress Alexandra and Athanasius, a pagan priest, to become Christians as well, and so they joined George in martyrdom. His body was returned to Lydda for burial, where Christians soon came to honour him as a martyr.

To be honest i think the 'slaying the dragon' bit might have been made up as i believe they were extinct by this time (well i know there's still some dragons on an island somewhere) but i mean proper fire eating dragons like they had in Ivor the engine ?

Have you noticed that when there is a "World Music," festival, it's everything but English?

A man went into a pub called the "George and Dragon" and said to the landlady, "Can I use your toilet please?"

"Not unless you buy something!" she snapped back.

"Well, can I have a half a pint of bitter, then?"

"Bitter's off!"

"Got any pork scratchings?"

"No, we don't!"

So the man leaned across the counter and quietly asked, "May I please have a word with George?"

We are not allowed to celebrate our OWN culture yet every other culture is shoved in our faces!

Dont get me wrong i like to see it especially the kids dressed in their paddy outfits but preventing people from putting up flags (where it is NOT prohibited) i ridiculous.

Unfortunately when the bnp 'hijacked' our National Flag for their political purposes all us reasonable folk paid the price,so now people are afraid of being accused of jingoism and being racist.

Time for Saint Georges day to be a bank holiday.
