Dena Riley Gets Life Sentence For Kidnapping
September 14, 2009
KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- She's infamous for sexually deviant acts that resulted in the death of an Independence, Missouri, woman, but on Monday Dena Riley was sentenced to life in prison for her role in the kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl who was also sexually assaulted.
Riley has pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping.
Riley admitted that in 2006 she and co-defendant Richard Davis visited his half sister in Arcadia, Kansas, and took the woman's daughter to get fast food. The girl's mother did not know that Riley and Davis were wanted for murder in Missouri.
Instead of going to the restaurant, Riley and Davis drove the child to Missouri to have sex with her. The family called 911 when they realized the girl was missing.
Riley called 911, also, and said that she and Davis had been doing drugs and were going to kill themselves.
Officers arrested Riley and Avis in the pickup truck near Lamar, Missouri. The girl was taken to a hospital where doctors discovered she had been injured during the sexual assault.
Riley and Davis were fleeing Missouri police after they were determined to be suspected in the murder of Marcia Spicer. Riley has since pleaded guilty in that case.

Re: Dena Riley Gets Life Sentence For Kidnapping & sexual abuse
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A 43-year-old Missouri woman has been sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping a 5-year-old southeast Kansas girl during a 2006 crime spree.
Dena Riley had pleaded guilty to the kidnapping in June, as part of a plea bargain in the videotaped murder of 41-year-old Marsha Spicer in the Independence apartment Riley shared with her boyfriend.
Riley was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan.
Authorities said Riley and her boyfriend, Richard Davis, were on the run from the killing when they took the girl from her home in Arcadia, Kan.
Riley was sentenced earlier to life without parole for Spicer's murder, plus eight additional life sentences and 239 years in prison for 25 other counts.
