We are in Murcia, 134 km from Lorca but we felt nothing whatsoever here. So sad that people were killed but earthquakes are not uncommon in this region. We had quite a big one a few years ago, it sounded like a train going under the house and it was scary to feel off balance as it felt like standing in a bowl of jelly, but apart from a few boats getting bashed around in the harbour there was no damage and I believe that one registered at 6, if I remember right. Maybe because the majority of buildings around here are not as old as the ones in Lorca they withstand the quakes, but just over 100 years ago Torrevieja was completely flattened by an earthquake, I believe only two towers were left standing. There seem to have been so many earthquake catastrophies already this year, I hope there are no more.

With all these natural disasters, Earthquakes, Floods, Tornados, Tsunamis etc I often wonder if Mankind is responsible, drilling for Oil, Coal, etc. Apparently, yesterday the area around the Colosseum , was deserted because a prediction had been made that an Earthquake would happen there yesterday, it didn"t and the prediction was a hundred years ago.

the predicted earthquake oin rome was based on a urban myth, person who supposedly predicted rome earthquake didn't predict there would be a earthquake hitting rome on a particular day.
