Erm... could be one of a couple of things!

I had a painful knee for donkey's years after an injury, but only had it operated on 2 years ago.

I had torn cartilage, plus other damage and also a Bakers cyst... which caused swelling 'behind' the knee.

It's also athritic. ;-(

Well i do a manual job now and i've been on my knees most of this week and outside in the damp as well,could it be fluid ?

I had that a couple of years ago, the pain then started to go up towards the hi[ doc said I had torn a mussle,and that fluid/gell swells around the damage mussle (it does this to protect it), this is what the pain is, it will go down within a couple of weeks, which it did.
I actually thought at the time that I was going to start with hip/knee problems, that I would eventually need a hip/knee replacement!!!!

Once it healed Ive never had a problem since!!!!

Well if it's a Bakers cyst, that would involve fluid around the knee too.

You really should go and see a doc and get a diagnosis.

I agree, Lioned. I think you should go see a doctor.

I've already been to the docs/nurse this week for my annual blood letting so i dont want to go back yet.The swelling is at the back of my knee only.

Also got to go to the hospital on Monday to have a biopsy on a 'mole' so i can live with this for a while.Thanks.

It's a shame you didn't you ask them to take a look at it when you were there this week... but I'm sure they wouldn't mind you popping down again Lioned!

Thanks mumbles and wjk.Just getting to that age when things are starting to hurt.

I can generally live with aches and pains (though they do seem to be accumulating rapidly) but do tend to keep an eye on other things.
Heard today that a friend is dying from prostate cancer and complications,that is a horrible illness when it gets a grip as i've seen it before,so that is one of my checks today.

Well my knee was dislocated so the doctor thinks,happened at work when i tripped in the loft and hit the joists but carried on working.
Kneecap (pattella) moves about a bit snapped it back into place but caught a nerve,very painfull.Have to go for an Xray next week.Have to wear a compression bandage and supposed to keep my leg up and rest and maybe pack with ice.

I have been told not to put any strain on it for about a month and then may have to have physiotherapy or something,and may take several months or more before i can work it properly.

Trouble is thats not an option as i wont get any sympathy from her indoors if i'm not bringing in any money so i just got to grit my teeth and carry on regardless.

Ouch! Maybe take some time off at least, until you've had the x-ray?
And then see what the Doc's say?

Trouble is got to start another job/contract on Monday and if i let people down i may drop out of the loop for future work.
So got to just get on with it until it drops off.

Xrays show the grooves a bit rough and worn and got to take it easy or end up a cripple as knee just keeps dropping out when i twist leg.Nothing much can be done at the moment.
Maybe have to change my job,again !
