Eddie and Adrian Prout - 'The Perfect Murder'
http://www.crimeandinvestigation.co.uk/tv-schedule.html
I was watching the 'crime and investigation' channel featuring 'murders in surburbia', about Adrian Prout, convicted of the murder of his wife, although there was no body, and no forensic crime scene. They entitled it 'The Perfect Murder'.
"Documentary examining how the threat of
divorce forced a husband to kill his wife to save his farm. Although now
behind bars, Adrian Prout still hasn't revealed where his dead wife
lies." [19:00] 60mins"
The bit that made me sit up and take notice was when a policeman mentioned the 'victim recovery' dog that was brought in to see whether there were any signs of death. The policeman was sceptical about how this dog contributed anything, as he hadn't heard of a dog being used for detecting forensics where there was no other evidence (this crime had happened several years ago). 'Eddie', as he was named in the documentary, went about the house, and indicated a death smell between the couch and the window in one room. There was never any forensic evidence, no evidence of a crime scene being washed away, and no body. The police assumed she was dead, and a conviction was obained, because Eddie did what he was trained to do. A woman was killed in her own home, and her husband could have got away with it. The police decided that they were looking for a dead person because all the evidence pointed to that. Adrian Prout was convicted, and sentenced, for the death of his wife. Ten years later, he admitted he'd killed his wife, and offered to lead investigators to where he'd buried her.

To add, that apparently this man has now admitted to killing his wife, and attempted to lead investigators to her body.

Yes I watched it too. You are right it was very interesting, especially seeing Eddie sniffing excitedly around the couch, and signalling a cadaver odour. Thankfully nobody asked silly questions like 'was it planted' or 'did anyone else die in that spot,' the way they do where Kate and Gerry McCanns holiday apartment is concerned.

Maybe someone should send the McCanns a video of this true crime show as a Christmas present.
