Lindy Chamberlain says she could have lost all her children

LINDY Chamberlain says that, if she had known about the danger of dingo attacks, she would have put her three children in the car the night her daughter Azaria was killed.

Speaking before a new coronial inquest starts in Darwin today, Mrs Chamberlain, now Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton after remarrying, said the attack could have claimed all three of her children.

"I could have lost three children that night. It could have been worse," she told A Current Affair.

"I wish I'd slept the three kids in the car, like we'd done on another night on the same trip. But without the information that there was danger here, I was missing that ... knowledge."

Azaria was nine weeks old when she disappeared from her parents' tent at Uluru in August 1980, sparking court cases that led to her mother being sentenced in 1982 to life in jail.

Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton said she had sprinted to the tent where Azaria had been sleeping with her brother, Regan.

"I'd gone from walking to sprint. It wasn't until ... I could see over the top that I could see in and see Regan, and see that her tent had been trashed, and all her blankets scattered," she said.

"So of course I dived in and started searching under the blankets, and my hands were occupied so I used my foot to poke him. To make sure he (Regan) was all right. He played dead because he thought it'd come back to get him," she said.

Lawyer Stuart Tipple, representing the Chamberlains, said the inquiry into the death of Azaria Chamberlain would hear of 12 major dingo attacks since the last inquest 17 years ago.

Mrs Chamberlain-Creighton has always maintained that she saw a dingo leaving her tent on the night Azaria went missing.

Both parents were exonerated, and their convictions overturned after a royal commission was held in 1987.

That is a weird remark. It implies that she's not done so badly - managed to keep two out of three alive.
In my mind I would only ever think about turning back time and avoid losing even one, and always blame myself for that. Besides, that gives us a possibility of three dingos and some pretty hefty ones too, because the other children were older.

Added to her testimony that she'd seen a dingo 'casing' the baby that day - in her place I'd feel terminally guilty and devastated. O yes, I'd go and look for my lost child as well. Was Azaria just another child too many? Imo she got pregnant again for the trial.

No, keep talking Lindy, it's getting clearer all the time.

A lesson from the Healy/McCann book of "Responsible Parenting"?

Yes, as condoned by the International Family Law Group, who'd started up just six weeks prior to 3rd May. The same lawyers who gave them the idea to start a Fund ..... It's as if they were inside each others heads - how lucky can you get!
The authority of these lawyers on this point of responsible parenting is worth : 0000000. They might as well have asked the ice cream seller. They transgressed under both UK and Portugese law in this matter - only a government body could 'let them off' such as social services and indeed, a court of law.

REAGAN CHAMBERLAIN
Reagan Chamberlain, born in Bowen, Queensland on 16 April 1976 was asleep in the
tent at the Uluru campsite along with Azaria when she disappeared. Reagan found
himself at the centre of more rumours after author Buck Richardson's 2002 book

Dingo Innocent suggested that the then four-year-old's parka was stained with Azaria's blood and his mother was covering up for the fact that he killed his baby sister.
Because of his age at the time of the tragedy Reagan Chamberlain never gave evidence at the official inquiries. But five years ago - when Reagan was 28 and employed as a careworker - he finally spoke of that night and said he had been aware of a dingo entering the tent the night Azaria disappeared.
'I got called quite a number of pretty things at the time,' Reagan said.

'I got called baby killer. I probably got called every swear word under the sun. Other children would say things to me, probably whatever their parents would tell them.'

I don't know if Lindy Chamberlain is innocent or not but I do find myself wondering about a few things. For instance if there was so much blood in the tent, then surely if a dingo carried off the baby there would be a blood trail of some kind. Wouldn't there also be dingo tracks? I realise there would be much distance to cover but were no tracking dogs or expert trackers involved to attempt to trace the dingo to it's lair? It's all very strange.

there were aborginal trackers who were not given the right to testify in court that found tracks with a print of azarias clothes on them where the alleged dingo was dragging azarias body

I'm talking about 'eaton' not 'bitten'.....dogs bite that are not dingos, they dont eat the victim After they have bitten them.

Why was there blood in the tent....I would off thought the dog would off dashed in, got the baby, dashed out THEN mauled and killed and eaton the baby elsewhere.

appently there was intestines etc found neara dingo lair so one of the many theories is that the dingo took the body back to its puppies im pretty sure there was teeth marks found on the matnee jacket that was later found at ulura ( ayers rock) in 1986 that had dingo saliva etc on it and the reason why the clothes were inside out was because a tourist found the babys blooded clothes a week later and the police officer didnt put them back the way they were found

My son (now 15) remembers seeing a shark swimming over his head in a tunnel when we went to Deep Sea World. He was about 18 months old and in a buggy!

It wouldn't be unusual for a hungry dingo to grab something to eat. There have been cases in this country of foxes attacking babies in houses.

I think the attack on the twin babies in London was genuine, cant see any reason why it wouldnt have been reported that way.I was being a tad flipant i grant you but just using this as an example or reminder if you like that there are wild animals that will attack and take away a victim if they are hungry enough, usually those victims are animals like chickens or maybe even sheep as with foxes in the UK or Coyote's in the Americas, wild animals are very bold when hungry.

I tend not to believe the story about the fox. I think the parents got paid an amount of money for the story. So I had my doubts. And I certainly never believed a dingo took the child in Australia.
