Very interesting yes. So the scent rises upwards and if it becomes trapped higher up, the dog will raise his head as he catches the smell and to someone who doesn't know what's going on, it appears that the dog is indicating that the scent is up high, whereas in fact it originates lower down.

Dont believe for one minute the scent was planted.
Who and why would anyone think of planting it in a flower bed ?
