Ward of Court?

Is Madeleine still a ward of court, and, if she is, why? I remember the reasoning behind this (from the McCann point of view) was that, if she was found and returned home, the parents woudn't need to qo through a legal process to prove she was their child. But how many disappeared children have PR and media spokespeople behind them? Why would you even be worrying about proving this was your child, if your whole focus was about getting that child back, and making sure they survived what they'd been through?

Is the ward of court ruling, if it's still ongoing, about preventing the media having the freedom of speech?
