Were cadaver and blood dogs used in Murat`s garden or just the tracker dogs?

The house and garden were searched twice. In May, GNR dogs were used and in August, a British sniffer dog was reported to have been used.

If that reporter hadn't said anything to the police about Robert Murat hanging around, even though he was acting as a translator, I wonder if he would have been in the frame for Madeleine's disappearance.

Lori Campbell probably thought she was in line for a prize, breathlessly stating her suspicions and likening Murat to the Soham case.

Thanks AnnaEsse - just wondered if they were as expert as Eddie at detecting dead bodies. I think the GNR dogs were looking for a live Maddie.

The house and gardens were searched over two full days in August 2007 with a British dog, which I think was probably Eddie.

The dogs alerted to the renault which as we know was not hired for sometime afterwards. Therefore, if those alerts were correct and it was Madeleine in the boot of that car, she was somewhere temporarily, then laid to rest quite a few weeks later.
Where better to hide something, than somwhere that has already been searched, sniffed, x-rayed and anything else the PJ could think of ? Why would the PJ return and re-dig once it had already been done.
Unlikely of course, but just an opinion.

Well he has his legal people at the ready so is expecting trouble.
It could be of course that it is a pet that has been buried, hence no alert from Eddie, but why put a drive in that position where he says it was of no use. But people do have areas of hard standing for washing lines or other domestic reasons.
I certainly think though that we have not heard the last of this chap and his findings.

Was it the May dig that GMc completely ignored in his inane blog? If you thought that your missing child might be buried in a neighbouring garden you'd be there watching. Yet no mention IIRC in the blog, in fact I think he said they'd had an early night.
Bit like when the world was waiting for the dna on the glass in Tonigren? (I think) and the parents hot footed somewhere the opposite way.
Little things like that raise red flags. Perhaps this article is why there was that load of Horrocks in the super, soaraway rag.

If anyone really thought a body was there it would be dug up already and it would be over every media outlet in the world.
However, it is probably a deceased pet.

Carolina wrote:I have the CdM paper and there is a 4 page spread about this whole. This guy Birch is a real estate developer and is fascinated with the Maddie case. He believes that once the body is found it will be possible to solve the case. He also states that he believes that Maddie died accidentally that night and was buried at Murat's house because it had easy access. He is also convinced that Murat and his family are not involved. He also praised Gonçalo Amaral, considering him an honest and competent person and a policeman with many years of experience.
That is more or less what was said in the article.
Thinking about it, t The Mcann's were very eager to set Murat up and turn him into a suspect. As was the rest of the tapas. IF: this scenario is accurate, then it would make sense as they would assume Murat's garden was going to be searched thoroughly and that would mean they get the body back.
What sort of newspaper in the uk is this newspaper equivilent to?

Any comment from 'a source close to the McCanns.'?
Re: South African researcher tells the CM what he found when he sought to know what happened to Maddie. Explosive revelations, to read in the CM
It is about another South African called Stephen Birch.
There are now many articles on the web about him.
Here is one giving more details.
"PJ Lane analyzes the Maddie case as it did hundreds
Stephen Birch, a lover of the mystery of the disappearance of Maddie, who lives in South Africa, was in Portugal with a geo-radar machine to analyze the vicinity of the Ocean Club in the Algarve, where the child disappeared in 2007.
Birch believes he has found the place where the corpse of the English girl: the neighbor's yard Robert Murat. According regard to the Morning Post , this Thursday, when Murat left the house, Birch invaded the property to go look for traces of Maddie with its geo-radar. The machine, which is also used by Portuguese police, works by the propagation of electromagnetic waves which enable locating objects in the soil. Birch changes detected 60 cm below ground. Remember that the Judicial Police (PJ) came to dig up the backyard of Murat, who was suspected in this case. PJ is considering the track without qualifying their credibility, as it did hundreds of other information that will come today . "With regard to this information as we did with all the information on a regular and continuous we were coming in the last five years and we are analyzing them," says the assistant national director, Pedro do Carmo. The process of the disappearance of Maddie was filed in July 2008, but after that the PJ has been a team at the Port to review the case and analyze new data."

Robert Murat's reaction:
(Google translation)
Robert Murat speaks of "madness and stupidity"
Asked Thursday afternoon about the polls in your backyard, revealed in the Thursday edition of the 'Morning Post', Robert Murat found the whole situation "a foolish and stupid."
"That makes no sense," said the Briton, who came under investigation by authorities at the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Referring to the search that the South African businessman Stephen Birch held in the backyard of his house in the village of Luz, Murat said that "it may lead to the Judicial Police, which is who should investigate, and give you all the information" .

Case reopened?

There's so much wrong with this "news" today, starting with the above. As we all know, RM was one of three suspects the authorities had in their sights.
