Post  kathybelle Wed 8 Aug - 8:48

Good morning HiDeHo

I'm sure you have read my recent post, where I stated comments made by Kate's Uncle Brian Kennedy. Try as I may, I can't find this information, which was on You Tube and I'm almost sure in the Leicester Mercury. I'm hoping you might have the information, somewhere in your archives. If you didn't see my post, I'll give you some background to the information.

The occasion I am talking about, is just before the McCanns were made arguidos, so it would have been in late August early September 2007. Brian Kennedy was stood outside the McCanns Rothely home and he was talking about the case to a reporter. Kennedy said his niece and her husband, had access to people that ordinary members of the British public didn't have access to. He said that they would call in favours from these people, if the needed to.

Kennedy also asked for donations, to enable his niece and her husband, to pay for their living expenses in Portugal and their bills that were mounting up in their Rothley home.

I know I am not the only one who saw this, because there were plenty comments on forums regarding Kennedy's interview. I am not getting mixed up with the You Tube video called "Eileen McCann and Brian Kennedy in Rothley." That occasion was in May 2007 and it took place near the war memorial, where people placed flowers and otheir tributes to missing Madeleine.

Thanks HiDeHo. HiDeHo Icon_flower

Are you sure it's Brian Kennedy? Because I seem to recall a video from John McCann who is talking about calling in favours. I'll see if I can find it.

Good morning Tigger

It was definitely Brian Kennedy, because he was stood outside the McCanns home and I remember him referring to Kate and Gerry, as his niece and her husband. Like I said he also asked for donations to help pay for the McCanns living expences in Portugal and their bills which were mounting up in their Rothly home. I had this information saved to favourites, but when I bought another computer, the information disappeared along with other information about other topics.

I remember Philomena McCann and her two siblings John and Patricia, sitting on the GMTV couch talking about the case days after Madeleine disappeared. They were speaking about setting up a fighting fund, how Gordon Brown was a family friend and how they were going to the House of Commons in London, to speak to an MP about the case.

It will be interesting to read what John McCann has to say about the McCanns calling in favours.

Good morning NBY

I have already said in my post, that this isn't the video I am talking about. For a start off, this video which is called "Eileen McCann and Brian Kennedy in Rothley" was filmed in May 2007. The video I am talking about, was filmed in either late August 2007 or early September 2007, before the McCanns were made arguidos.

It's bugging me too - here is a link to one of the family members talking about money :
http://mccannfundfraud.info/2011/01/mccanns-were-broke-in-2007/comment-page-2/#comment-45421.

I'd love a link to the GMTV video if there is one. GB wasn't a friend of the family at all imo. Didn't use them to win votes, get photographed with them. Just did the damage limitation and may be one of the 'friends' who had a favour called in, in true Glaswegian underworld fashion.

Here is a quote from the end of september 07 interview from Vanity Fair:

Lately, word has leaked out that the McCanns feel abandoned even by Gordon Brown, once their close ally. Their spokesman doesn’t quite deny this. “That was one of our backers who said it. We would never be that impolitic,” he says. “But it is true that we have requested a meeting with the prime minister to show him the strength of our case, to explain Kate and Gerry’s innocence—and yet all we’ve been offered is a medium-level-consular meeting, which we rejected.” unquote

The quote on favours is very telling, I'll see if I can find it.

Not a video, but a record of the comment in MCF archives (Daily Express 19 July 2007):

http://themaddiecasefiles.com/topic15025.html

Madeleine's great-uncle Brian Kennedy is chairman of a special fund to help the search for the little girl. It has raised £900,000.

He said: "We're going to need it.

There are big bills coming in for things we've produced, for travel, for accommodation while Gerry and Kate are out there.

"They're not wealthy and there's no way we could carry on without it". Asked about criticism the McCanns would not have had so much help if they weren't doctors, he said: "It's true we have friends we could call on that others may not have – and we used them. We called in favours.

I have found this, perhaps someone can find the Sky news video?

From Forensic Linguistics; CMoMM.
This is from Sky News, july 2007. snipped here and there
The parents of Madeleine McCann have told Sky News they will stay in Portugal until they find their missing daughter.

Brian is chairman of Madeleine's Fund, now in itself a full-time job. So far it has raised more than £900,000. 76 days into the project!

Responding to criticism that the McCanns would not have had so much help if they weren't doctors, he said: "It's true we have friends we could call on that others may not have - [b]and we used them, we called in favours. (Favours! John McCann said something similar.)

"Our view is that any parent wherever they are, whatever they do, should get the same publicity as Madeleine has and if we can do anything through the fund for others then we will." unquote

It would appear even at that early stage of Madeleine's, 'abduction' those in the know felt there may be a need for legal input.

Oops...sorry. You posted in the mddle of night for me and didnt check before I left for work this morning.

Anyway, I don't recall the specific video but I have more than 30GB of videos archived. (doesn't mean I can access the ones I want, I saw one I had with John McCann explaining the fund and why they needed lawyers and lost it 10 minutes later never to be found again!)

I save every kind of video that I can, and don't always watch them, but if it is on Sky or ITN I have saved hundreds of those clips...and of curse lots more.....so I will search for you shortly....

Time to 'veg' in the garden for a bit.

(I can't believe I missed a thread titled for me...lol)

I have been searching but after watching more John McCann than I would really choose I still havent found it.

Any more clues as to what I should be looking for? I searched Sky news videos.

SOMEWHERE I have about 5 parts of an interview he has possibly with CNN. I remember it was different to the other casual interviews on his couch or while he was shaving HiDeHo 25346

I'll keep looking as I am still searching for the interview about the fund where he justifies the lawyers. (If anyone knows where that is)

Thank you to the ones who put the information on here regarding Brian Kennedy talking about the favours the McCanns were going to call in, from their high profile friends. While I still can't find the video of Kennedy, standing outside the McCanns house, talking about calling in favours and begging for money, the information that is on here at the moments is similar to what Kennedy did say shortly before the McCanns were made arguidos.

Never in my life, have I ever seen people as arrogant as the McCanns and their wider family. Kennedy had a nerve asking people to donate money for the McCanns expenses, especially when people had already donated to the fund, thinking that it would be used for the sole purpose of finding Madeleine.

Given that we now know that it was highly likely Madeleine died in the McCanns apartment and the McCanns covered up the cadaver scent, we know that they stayed in Praia da Luz, on an extended holiday, using Madeleine's fund money as a way of travelling here, there and everywhere, in an effort to boost up their popularity.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the McCanns and their wider family disgust me. None of them have done anything to find Madeleine, but plenty to raise money in her name. They all knew that hardly any of the money was going to be used to look for her and I'm not sorry for saying this, it's because they all knew she was never going to be found.

@Kathybelle
Gerry told a journalist as early as June in answer to the question of how long they were going to stay in Portugal, that the twins didn't have to go to school for another two years.
They also said at one point they'd learn Portuguese and that they wouldn't leave without Madeleine. So....

Not so much an extended holiday thanks to the generosity of the British people but a new lifestyle. I've always thought that the plan was to sell the Rothley house or rent it out and stay in Portugal indefinitely - buy a villa. Coming back to the UK wasn't in the planning imo.
What's not to like? Four golf courses, sun, sand, Little Britain, friends with villas and rubbing shoulders with the A-list.

That's why they hate Amaral so much, he spoiled it all. Imo.

Kitti, have you not read the information on here? It has already been said that Brian Kennedy spoke about calling in favours.

I saw the interview with my own eyes, that Kennedy gave to the media, as he was stood outside the McCanns house. I heard him say, with my own ears, that the McCanns had access to high profile people, that ordinary members of the public didn't have access to. Along with other stuff, such as begging for more money, to pay for the McCanns living expenses in Portugal and their bills that were mounting up in their Rothley home.

No doubt John McCann did speak about calling in favours, but just because he said it, it doesn't mean Brian Kennedy didn't say it. I never heard John McCann speak about calling in favours and it would be very arrogant of me to say that just because I never heard him say it, it wasn't true.

I always try my best to prove, I've seen and heard, but it isn't always possible. A lot of information has disappeared from off the internet, including information, that was on You Tube videos.

Post  matthew Thu 9 Aug - 18:13

The parents of Madeleine McCann have told Sky News they will stay in Portugal until they find their missing daughter.

Kate and Gerry McCann said: "We have got no plans to come home. We only want to return with Madeleine."

It is now 76 days since the four-year-old was abducted from her parents' holiday apartment in Portugal.

Brian Kennedy, the missing girl's great uncle, said it would be a "great ordeal coming back without Madeleine. I think when they do come home it will be low-key."

But the retired headteacher, whose sister Susan is Kate's mother, thinks they will be strong enough to allow their younger children Sean and Amelie a normal life.

"It would be a natural reaction to feel very over-protective towards the twins, but they're sensible and I'm sure that won't happen".

Brian is chairman of Madeleine's Fund, now in itself a full-time job. So far it has raised more than £900,000.

"We're going to need it, there are big bills coming in for things we've produced, for travel, for accommodation while Gerry and Kate are out there.

"They're not wealthy and there's no way we could carry on without it".

Responding to criticism that the McCanns would not have had so much help if they weren't doctors, he said: "It's true we have friends we could call on that others may not have - and we used them, we called in favours.

"Our view is that any parent wherever they are, whatever they do, should get the same publicity as Madeleine has and if we can do anything through the fund for others then we will."

The centre of Rothley, Leicestershire, where the war memorial has been covered in ribbons and gifts for Madeleine, is slowly returning to normal.

The toys are being sent to charities, the messages are being saved for the McCanns' return and the yellow ribbons will be taken away by August 1.

Brian says: "We have to slowly return to normality. We'll put yellow bands around the trees instead to keep some kind of link.

"We're not giving up. There will always be a lantern lit there, as it has been since she disappeared".

Writing in his blog, Gerry said he and his wife attended mass in Portugal on Wednesday night to mark the 75th day since Madeleine vanished.

He wrote: "We are still very hopeful that Madeleine will be safely returned. As parents, Kate and I cannot contemplate giving up the search for our daughter."
