A local author has criticised the parents of Madeleine McCann for using money meant to find the missing girl to fund libel cases.

"To use the cash collected for finding Madeleine to silence intelligent criticism and research is criminal in itself," said Brian Deller, from Malaga.

His comments came after a book by American Criminal Profiler Patricia Brown was published.

Deller, known for his books on motoring in Spain, said: "Needless to say the McCanns, with their massive funds collected from a sympathetic public to finance the search for poor little Madeleine, have engaged top lawyers who specialise in libel actions to have the book banned. Amazon has had to withdraw it from their on-line web-site."

He added that money donated to find Madeleine should not be used to fund libel actions, saying the silencing of critics and book bans were the actions of totalitarian regimes.

I typed out the article from the printed paper, not online edition. I have scanned the article, I hope it's readable.
Note the date on the paper, it is today's edition, 22nd Novermber 2012.

I'll bet he's upset the Mccann fan club!!!! Wonder whether he has read Pat Brown's book. The Euroweekly news used to be available here in Portugal until the owners and publishers decided that it wasn't worth the effort and is now only available in Spain but at least they have the guts to publish something which goes against the grain!! Good find...does the author know that your not allowed to question the actions of the McCanns,punishable by CR with funds from the general public...no stone unturned my ar$e

What it is good imo about this article is that it is an english language free paper and available at the Tourist information offices, many supermarkets and outlets frequented by the UK tourist, so will be well read.

I'm 99% sure that this is a rerun of an article that first appeared when Pat Brown's book was published. I remember looking to see what else Brian Deller had written. It may not have been on this forum though.

Newspapers do have a habit of reprinting old articles at times.

Thanks mara_thon, like others I could not bring up the Article first , I kept getting Web Page Expired and at the mention of the Pat Brown Book, that was over a year ago , so maybe it is a re-run. Which brings me to the question of what happened to her, last we heard she had met up with Amaral and was going to sue amazon.

Don't know if it's just me - but seeing the picture of Madeleine as a third or fourth generation copy, makes it look VERY obvious indeed that that picture is photoshopped. It's Maddie's head on another girl's body.
