That was supposed to be the bad guy, now that SY had ruled out Tannerman.

Surely the Smith efit is not one of the three burglars - they are Portuguese and that man looks Scottish.

We also had 3 Scottish pedos to chase but never mind. As far as Redwood getting up on CW and saying we want everyone to look very hard at this and call in, they supposedly had tons of calls.

How'd they go from that "we're getting close!" breakthrough moment to a ring of burglars identified by new phone tracking technology?

Also there were 3 Norwegians - could Smithman be Norwegian?

Well I know, but he went on TV with Smithman sighting. He asked everyone to look or that dunderheaded woman that was on there fawning over them did, "now it's our turn to help, let's all look very closely and then go out and accuse everyone of kidnap" -

The PJ were the ones with the dead tractor guy but SY had the efit of this guy - they found and ruled out the innocent guy Tanner saw, doesn't it seem awfully FUNNY that this other guy hasn't called in to say that was just me?

Why are they not finding that guy?

Any decent human being would tell the police that was him and his own child, if he were innocent. And maybe he did - Tannerman supposedly had been ruled out by PJ before SY found him, he'd already been looked into.

So to me this Gerry look-alike is really important, in that he has not come forth. Maybe the 3 Port. burglars will have seen him?

The PJ did rule out Tannerman while Amaral was still on the case. I would say that this Gerryman/Smithman is likely important, like as you said, he has not come forward.
 
However, it is highly unlikely that these 3 burglars saw him, as it is highly unlikely that these 3 burglars were anywhere near the McCanns apartment that night. Not many people even noticed a single strange person, let alone a group of 3 burglars. I am not so sure that the cell phone call evidence can place the burglars close the apartment, but more likely within a much larger radius of the apartment. This is really clutching at straws.

Does Redwood really and truly think these Burglars are so important that he has asked the Portugese for help??? If I was the Judiciary I would refuse on the grounds that it is yet more timewasting and embarassment for Portugal to make such a request.

1. apparently there were several calls between these 3 burglars, but no way of identifying what was said???

2. They operated in Portugal a short while before the McCanns arrived........7 years ago? They could be anywhere now.

3. Has a test been done on their mobiles to see if they are still in use?

Close the investigation Cameron , don't waste any more taxpayers money and try to salvage SY's reputation.

There is somebody somewhere doing their level best to make SY look like complete muppets and it is working.

Yes mossman I agree, not just SY, The Prime Minister and Home Secretary for continuing to pay for this ridiculous investigation.

On sky News earlier they were reviewing the Press news and one of the Papers is reporting on this, Eamon Holmes just read the Headline , made no comment and put the paper down. Probably like most of the population he thought this is farcical .

I think it's a poor show we are being fed this information. SY should give an update every month even if it is to say there is no truth in these stories or yes there is truth in these stories. Just to have all this in the press and nobody to have a clue if it's official or even true. It's poor.

Morning MaryB.....I suspect most of this is fed to the McCanns by Redford, they in turn tell Clarence who makes sure the Press are informed. Most people know it is rubbish but Redwood ought to be hauled over the coals by the Home Secretary at least for making SY look ridiculous.

I think the spokesperson needs to be muzzled rather than the press, and if SY is doing their job we'll see less of Clarence in future. They do not want their moves telegraphed to everyone (including the perps) nor to have Clarence in charge of how the case is viewed (disappointing, soon we'll hear about the disgraced Cop at the Met)

Widowan, he's only got himself to blame, Kate said he was keeping them up to date and he made a few T.V. interviews saying madeleine could be alive, there were 38 "persons of interest " sy wanted to interview, I presume these 3 are among them.

True, but I think as with other detectives before him he may find the media is not a friend - you don't use it, it uses you as we have seen.

I hope he did not really say he had 38 POI's. A POI is a real thing, not just anyone who happened to be in the vicinity. A POI is like the next thing to a suspect - I think he was just trying to show he'd made progress so the taxpayers are getting some value for the millions spent on this when other cases go begging for even one SY detective never mind 40 or whatever it is.

Just noticed on casey Anthony update that she came out of hiding a few months back, after two years - she is filing bankruptcy and wants everyone to leave her alone now.

She did 4 years for lying to the investigation -! - the top comment was "at least she didn't get rich from selling her story" - people really resent that, as well as getting off on neglect and other crimes that could be charged McCanns made millions from the story, because they didn't use it to find Maddie - they want to use the tax payers money for that and keep the donations to "help" themselves.

John McCann, Gerry's Brother and Chairman vowed the Fund would be run on Charity status ....from day one it was run for the McCanns . There was over P2 million by Christmas 2007, the Daily Mail , to their credit was the only Paper to point out that only 13% had been spent on searching for Madeleine.
