I just read this article on Yahoo news and I really do find it hard to believe that the press is still churning out such utter rubbish. What on earth is the use of a photo of a very young Maddie dressed as a pumpkin? Are people around the world now expected to be on the lookout for a toddler in a pumpkin outfit? When oh when is all this going to end and some genuine investigation going to take place, starting of course with the parents and their friends? It´s like some kind of fiendish plot to take over the world by driving the population totally insane.

Later in the actual story, it does say that the photo was taken "months before" May 2007. It's just the headline that's wrong.

However, I'm not at all convinced that the child in the photo is Madeleine.

How can anyone look so different in nearly every photo?

Were pumpkins popular in the UK when Kate was a girl though? I thought they were a fairly recent US import.

I don't think pumpkins were that popular when Kate was a child - fancy dress ones maybe were perhaps. But the trainers, sorry but they look modern.

Photos from the 1970s would all be on film, not digital, they have a different quality about them, and they go funny colours as they age. The pumpkin photo looks modern.

Just when I thought it could not get any more ridiculous.  Are we to be bombarded with a photo for every occasion in the calendar year from now on ?   I fail to see what possible reason there is for this story.  If anything, it harms the search.....the public need to "look" for a pre-teen girl, not a three/four year old in a pumpkin outfit.

If this was October, then she was not yet three and a half.  The girl in the photo looks older than this to me.  

I wonder if there was a dress up day in school at some point and Madeleine dressed as a pumpkin.  Christmas is coming and the goose is not getting fat - dig out a photo and call it her last Halloween and push that donate button folks.

I agree with you Iris and LJC. She is holding a teddy, how long had Madeleine had cuddle cat when she disappeared?
