'Several' People Dead In Virginia Shooting
Police say there have been "several" fatalities in a shooting in the US state of Virginia.
A police spokeswoman says more than 100 officers are searching for the gunman in woodland outside the town of Appomattox.

The incident began when a deputy from the the town's sheriff's office responded to a call about a man lying down beside a road.

"When the deputy arrived on scene, he heard several gun shots and contacted his dispatch center," Sergeant Thomas Molnar said.

"They dispatched several more of their deputies to the scene and contacted the Virginia state police for assistance," he added.

Officers are searching for the suspect within a cordoned off perimeter.

"The perimeter has been established and we believe the suspect is within the quarantined area," Sergeant Molnar said.
