Kayleah Wilson found dead

Post  AnnaEsse on Sat 3 Apr - 20:16

12 year-old Kayleah left her home on Sunday afternoon to go to a birthday party. She didn't arrive. Her mother said that she had recently split up with her 17 year-old boyfriend, whom the police say is not "a person of interest," but what kind of 17 year-old lad has a 12 year-old girlfriend?

FBI Looking For Kayleah Wilson, Not Seen Since Sunday When She Went to a Birthday Party

Authorities Say They Are Re-Interviewing People Who Might Have Information About Kayleah's Whereabouts

PrintRSSFont Size: Share:EmailTwitterFacebookMoreFarkTechnoratiGoogleLiveMy SpaceNewsvineBuzzDeliciousMixxYahooThe FBI has joined the search for a missing 12-year-old Colorado girl who vanished on her way to a friend's birthday party.

Kayleah Wilson was last seen Sunday afternoon when she left her mom's Greeley, Colo., home to go to a friend's birthday party. Kayleah never returned.
(Courtesy Greeley PD)The agency sent 15 detectives to Greeley, Colo., to look for Kayleah Wilson, Dave Joly of the Denver field office said.

"When it involves a child, we're there," Joly said, adding that the Greeley Police Department requested the extra help and expertise.

FBI agents and local police have spread out along possible routes Kayleah might have taken after she left home. At a brown two-story apartment building on 30th Street in Greeley, agents knocked on doors and handed out fliers with Kayleah's picture, hoping to drum up leads in the case.

"We're trying to leave no stone unturned, " FBI Special Agent Jonathan Grusing said. "Because with someone who is 12 years old, you don't know if they maybe ran into someone at these apartments and is staying there, thinking everything is OK."

Kayleah was reported missing by her mother, April Wilson, when she never came home Sunday evening from a birthday party that was supposed to end by 7 p.m.

Police, who have few leads, say Kayleah never made it to the birthday party.

"We do not believe Kayleah ran away. There is nothing to indicate she did," Sgt. Joe Tymkowych, a Greeley Police spokesman, said Wednesday. "We just haven't been able to come up with anything that indicates what may have happened."

Authorities are also reportedly questioning the 17-year-old boyfriend of Kayleah, of whom her mother told ABCNews.com she did not approve.

The Greeley Tribune reported that Kayleah's ex-boyfriend is being questioned but is cooperating with police and has not been named a person of interest.

Wilson said that disappearing without calling or coming home is not typical of her daughter.

"She's never run away before," said Wilson. "I am worried she may be in danger because none of her friends have seen her, and it is like she just vanished, but that's not possible."

Kayleah, who is in sixth grade at Brentwood Middle School, was last seen wearing a white-and-pink shirt over a white tank top, blue jeans and white and red shoes. She is described as being 5 feet 1 inch, and approximately 145 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.

Wilson said her daughter left at 3:40 p.m. Sunday for the party, which was just a few blocks away.

"She walked over to the couch and said, 'I love you,' and 'I'll be home by 7,' and she walked out the door and that was it," said Wilson. "She had been talking about the party. She was really looking forward to it."

Tymkowych said that since Kayleah was reported missing Sunday evening the search has taken over his police force.

"We have about 25 people out on the ground searches and recanvassing the areas where she was last seen," said Tymkowych. "We are reinterviewing a lot of the key figures in the investigation as well."

Tymkowych said that dogs had been used in the investigation initially but proved unsuccessful. He said that investigators working the case do not believe Kayleah had any problems with drugs or alcohol, and have not found anyone who may have wanted to harm her.

Kayleah Wilson news: 2nd girl goes missing just 50 miles from where Colorado girl vanished

Post  Guest on Thu 8 Apr - 0:19

Just 50 miles from where Colorado girl, Kayleah Wilson disappeared, a 2nd girl has now gone missing.

Kayleah, 12, vanished Mar. 28 on her way to a friend’s birthday party in Greeley. Local authorities in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation continue to search for her and follow up on hundreds of leads. The FBI is also offering anyone with information that will lead to her safe return a reward of $10,000.

On Sunday, 15-year-old Avalon Gysel was reported missing from her Cheyenne, Wyoming home, however, police believe she may be a runaway. Greeley and Cheyenne are about 50 miles apart, and authorities have not stated whether the two cases are linked in any way.

Cheyenne Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Rob Dafoe said “There is nothing suspicious except she [Avalon] is reported as a runaway.”

Authorities have hinted that Kayleah may have disappeared on her own accord as well, saying they believe she may be afraid to come forward due to all the attention her case has garnered.

Jim Davis, FBI special agent in charge, said “We believe that there is still information out there, that there are people that know something and won’t come forward with it for some reason.”

Kayleah is about 5-foot-1 and 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen at about 3:40 p.m. on March 28 near the 2800 block of 28th Avenue in Greeley, wearing a white and pink shirt over a white tank top, blue jeans, and white and red shoes.

Anyone with information regarding Kayleah should call the Greeley police at 970-350-9600 or 800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324) or e-mail FindKayleah@GreeleyPD.com.

Decomposed body found 1 mile from where Kayleah was last seen

Post  AnnaEsse on Thu 20 May - 8:03

ABC News

A decomposed body was found today just one mile from where 12-year-old
Kayleah Wilson of Greeley, Colo., went missing nearly two months ago.

A source close to the investigation told ABC News' Denver affiliate
7News that they believe the body is Kayleah's but cannot be certain
until dental records are compared.

Greeley Police Sgt. Joe Tymkowkych did not immediately return messages
left by ABCNews.com, but told local reporters that the body was
discovered at 6 a.m. Wednesday by a worker who was inspecting the water
levels in an irrigation ditch.

The body is so decomposed that is was not immediately clear if it was
that of a female or a male, said Tymkowkych.

It is "impossible to tell right now when the body was deposited,"
Tymkowkych told 7News.

The search for Kayleah, who went missing March 28 after leaving her
Greeley home to attend a birthday party, has been confounded by an
absence of any information or leads, police have said."

They have, just a mile from where she went missing and they're looking at dental records for identification. A person who takes a young person's life like this and just discards their body, like so much trash, should never leave prison.

FBI: body identified as Kayleah

Post  AnnaEsse on Thu 20 May - 22:29

http://www.kdvr.com/news/kdvr-kayleah-wilson-found-txt,0,4936150.story

"GREELEY, Colo. - FOX31 News has confirmed through FBI sources that a
body found in a drainage ditch in Greeley Wednesday is that of Kayleah
Wilson, a 12-year-old girl who disappeared two months ago.

Greeley police scheduled a 4 p.m. press conference to "make an
announcement" regarding the case, which is being treated as a homicide.

The cause of death was not immediately released.

Wilson disappeared March 28 after she left her home in south Greeley to
attend a birthday party. This spawned an intense search involving more
than 50 FBI agents, dozens of Greeley police and Weld County sheriff's
deputies.

Kayleah was last seen alive by two credible witnesses apparently waiting
for someone or someone outside an entrance to the Greeley Mall on March
28. Surveillance tapes from numerous businesses near the girl's home
and mall were examined, but no arrests were made.

Kayleah's body was found Wednesday morning by a ditch rider who was
checking the Greeley-Loveland Irrigation Canal behind Trinity Lutheran
School, located at 3000 35th Ave. The body was at the bottom of a
30-foot spillway.

The FBI is turning the case over to local authorities as the search for
Kayleah is no longer considered a kidnapping."

Kayleah's former boyfriend charged with sexual abuse of a child.

Post  AnnaEsse on Sat 22 May - 9:39

GREELEY — The 18-year-old former boyfriend
of Kayleah Wilson faces charges of sexual assault on a child related to
his relationship with the murdered girl.

Robert Laurencio Montoya is also considered,
among others, a "person of interest" in the 12-year-old's death.
However, he is not a suspect, said Greeley police spokesman Joe
Tymkowych.

"This arrest is separate and distinct" from
the murder investigation, Tymkowych said.

Montoya faces a charge of sexual assault on a
child, a Class 4 felony, and sexual assault on a child as a pattern of
abuse, a Class 3 felony

Montoya was arrested Wednesday night "from
information that probable cause existed to believe the suspect was
involved in a sexual relationship with Kayleah Wilson," Tymkowych said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kayleah's body was
found in a irrigation ditch in southeast Greeley after a two-month
search for her. The Weld County coroner determined she was a victim of a
homicide, but officials have not disclosed the cause of death or how
long she was in the ditch.

Tymkowych refused to release any more
details on what prompted the charges. The arrest affidavits are
currently sealed, said Weld County District Attorney Jennifer Finch.
Montoya is in the Weld County Jail on $100,000 bail.

A spokeswoman for Kayleah's family said she
wasn't sure how long Montoya and Kayleah had been dating. But when
Kayleah's mother — April Wilson — found out about the relationship in
February, she forced the two to break up, said spokeswoman Michelle
Thompson.

"It was a secret relationship until the
mother found out," Thompson said.

According to electronic copies of court
records, investigators think Montoya started having sex with Kayleah in
October of last year. The court records alleged the sexual assaults
involved in these charges occurred between Jan. 18 — Montoya's 18th
birthday, when he became an adult — and March 28, the day Kayleah
disappeared.

Montoya attended Greeley West High School,
but Thompson wasn't sure whether he graduated. Montoya's Facebook page
said he was a member of the high school's Class of 2010.

Montoya joined one of the door-to-door
searches for Kayleah launched after she disappeared March 28.

At the search, Montoya appeared "very sad.
He was so determined he was going to help her," Thompson said.

Police have declined to comment on whether
Kayleah was pregnant at the time of her death.

Kayleah's body was discovered in a ditch
about 6 a.m. Wednesday. The area had been searched extensively at least
twice by people looking for the 12-year-old.

Greeley Police Chief Jerry Garner said heavy
rains both Tuesday night and several days ago may have "moved the body
from a culvert or hiding place" to a position in the ditch where it
could be seen.

About 10 a.m. Wednesday, the body was
removed from the ditch and taken to McKee Medical Center for
identification.

On Thursday, Garner announced that the body
was that of Kayleah.

"We've got a lot of work to do now," said
Garner at that time. "We'll be talking to lots of people."

The ditch is half a mile from Kayleah's home
but not on the route to her friend's house, where she was going to
attend a birthday party when she disappeared.

Kayleah was last seen shortly after leaving
her family's apartment in the 2800 block of 28th Street. There were
reports she was seen in the parking lot of the Greeley Mall just prior
to her disappearance.

Ron Walker, a former FBI profiler, said the
Greeley police will likely begin concentrating on Kayleah's circle of
friends as possible suspects or for information on suspects.

"Police always look to the close associates
of the victim and move outward in concentric circles," Walker said. "I
wouldn't be surprised they are already talking to kids at the mall as
well as her boyfriend."

My exact words, uttered aloud when I read that. Kayleah was just 12 years old. What was a young man of 18 doing with such a young child? This just beggars belief and if she was pregnant, was that a reason for killing her so that there was no evidence of the sexual relationship continuing?
