Carly, doctors are not saints. They have often been regarded as such, but I can tell you a good few bedtime stories that will keep you awake for a month. And these are stories that never made it to the papers. Or a disciplinary hearing.
Carly, my son brought me a trilogy of novels from New Zealand, by Alan Duff. If this fictional narrative is true to life, the same holds true for Maori people.

Homicide detectives have again questioned the parents of missing Sydney girl Kiesha Abrahams.
Detectives took Kristi Abrahams and Kiesha's stepfather Rob Smith to Mount Druitt police station this afternoon, but a police spokeswoman said the pair were not under arrest.
"It's just a matter of process in the investigation," the spokeswoman told ninemsn.
As the search for Kiesha entered its fourth day on Wednesday, the number of rescuers hunting for the child from Mount Druitt in western Sydney was increased.
One hundred and fifteen searchers, made up of police, Rural Fire Service (RFS) and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers, spent the day trawling bushland two kilometres from Kiesha's Woodstock Avenue home.
They also canvassed homes in the neighbourhood.
Kiesha's mother, Kristi Abrahams, says she last saw her daughter when she tucked her into bed about 9.30pm (AEST) on Saturday night.
The next morning, Kiesha's bed was empty and the front door was ajar, although there was no sign of a forced entry.
Friends and family have described her as happy, quiet and not given to wandering off.
Ms Abrahams and Kiesha's stepfather, Robert Smith, on Tuesday made an emotional appeal for help to find her.
Police said earlier this week that Kiesha's biological father was not considered a suspect.
Anyone who has seen Kiesha, described as about 140cm tall with blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing pink pyjamas and a purple Pumpkin Patch jacket, should phone Mount Druitt police station on 9675 0000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Re: missing 6 year old australian girl Kiesha
The two cases (Kiesha and Madeleine) appear to be very similar, regardless of what the parents do for a living. But in this case it looks as though the police are able to access records relating to Kiesha, something that wasn't allowed - for whatever reason - in Madeleine's case.
BTW, has anyone seen any reference to this strange disappearance in the British press or on tv? You'd think a case so strikingly similar to that of Madeleine would be highlighted in the media here, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Then, of course, there is Syler Newton in Arizona, and now another two-year-old missing in Arizona, disappeared while his mother was having a nap! Silence from the McCanns and their spokesperson.

Re: missing 6 year old australian girl Kiesha
Indeed, Anna, but I bet if this were a clear-cut case of abduction it would soon find its way into the British press, because certain people would make sure of it, using it as some sort of proof that children actually are snatched from their beds by strangers. Funny how picky the British papers are about what they want their readers to know about other missing children.AnnaEsse wrote:Dimsie wrote:The two cases (Kiesha and Madeleine) appear to be very similar, regardless of what the parents do for a living. As for detectives questioning the mother and stepfather, they could always try throwing a tantrum and accusing the police of trying to destroy their family - you never know, it might work. And I hope they know that contacting the outside world via your mobile phone while in the police station for questioning is now the done thing. I wouldn't like to think they're unaware of these moves.

Re: missing 6 year old australian girl Kiesha
It's hit Sky News.

"More than 100 police officers in Australia are searching for a six-year-old girl who went missing on Saturday night.
Keisha Abrahams was last seen by her mother, Kirsti, when she tucked her into bed at 9.30pm, at the family home in Hebersham in western Sydney.
The next morning, the little girl's bed was empty and the front door ajar with no sign of a forced entry, according to Ms Abrahams.
The six-year-old's mother and her stepfather, Robert Smith, have appealed publicly for help in finding her and dozens of volunteers have searched parks, bushland and creeks in the surrounding area.
The officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Inspector Russell Oxford, revealed that the last time anyone had seen the little girl outside her immediate family was on July 7, when her half-brother Levi Smith was born.
"The grandmother saw Kiesha around about the 7th or 9th of July, which is probably at least three or so weeks ago," DI Oxford said.
"It's a bit troubling for us because certainly, while the parents say the child was there on the weekend, it's the lead-up time that's important to us because we need to know what might have caused this to occur."
Keisha is about 4ft 7in tall, with fair hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing pink pyjamas.
Family friends say she is not in the habit of wandering off."

Martin Brunt: Like Madeleine McCann.....
http://blogs.news.sky.com/lifeofcrime/Post:be350ecb-6f93-4857-86ae-dc6861c1b8b7
Oh dear! I don't know if the residents of Rothley Towers will appreciate this comparison!
So far, the story has reached only a little further than the Geelong Advertiser, a morning paper in Victoria.
But the circumstances of six-year-old Kiesha Abrahams's disappearance are likely to attract a far wider audience if Aussie detectives don't find her soon.
Her mother said she tucked Kiesha in bed in the family home at 9.30 on Saturday night.
The next morning the front door, thought to have been left unlocked, was ajar and Kiesha was missing.
It's early days and there are many differences, but so far, like Madeleine McCann, another little girl appears to have vanished into thin air.
Oh dear! I don't know if the residents of Rothley Towers will appreciate this comparison!

Oh dear, yes there is an unfortunate resemblance the way she is covering her face and wearing dark glasses.
I posted on another thread the other day that many people cannot comprehend that the McCanns or their friends could have carried out such a deed because of their respectability as Doctors. Many people think they would naturally own up if the death was accidental.
IMO it is not about what you do for a living, how well off you are, who you are connected to socially, etc.
It is motive that usually accounts for respectable people to turn criminal, and a good many of them do if pushed into a corner hard enough.
They may not have had a motive to murder her, but if her death had accidentally occured due to their neglect of her, they certainly had a motive to cover that death up.
In a nutshell their lives would be turned upside down by owning up to their daughter's accidental death.

- Social Service involvement in their lives for many years to come and the loss of one or both incomes are the two main reasons.
Then there would be the struggle to gain employment as health professionals by one or both of them again in the future.
Then there would be the loss of their luxurious home.
Then there would be the loss of trust from family and acquaintances.
Another important reason is the fact they may never be allowed to work with children again, or even do voluntary work which involves children.
In a nutshell their lives would be turned upside down by owning up to their daughter's accidental death.
