What happened to Gerry's pants!

I was reading the skye news blog by Martin Blunt today and a poster had put some photos up for our perusal. One was a picture of a pair of beige pants (trousers to the Brits) on the bed. I presume the photo was taken early on during the police investigation. Then I found some photos on Pamalams site with similar crimescene photos, but NO PANTS.

The significance of the pants is that they match the Smith's sightings. There is also a picture of Gerry wearing a similar pair of pants on a different occasion.

I am not aware of any of the dates these pictures where taken, but the two pictures of the bedroom are almost identical: note the camara strap and pillows in the same place, but in the second picture the pants, and a white sheet at the end of the bed are missing. Maybe not significant, but it made me do a 'doubletake', and I wondered - did someone move the pants while the crime scene photos were being taken?

I know, I called him Blunt - freudian slip...I meant Brunt!!

The pants on the bed look long, Onda (Portuguese poster) saw him in a bar waiting for the police to arrive wearing cropped beige pants.
He fell to his knees 'like an Arab at prayer' when they arrived.....hiding knees'?......he was wearing jeans when they made the first appeal to the press. KM or GM ? said she thought he was wearing jeans evening of 3rd. as I recall.

No wonder Amaral wanted photos of the contents of the wardrobe and details of what they were all wearing.

I'd say the pants were bundled up between photoshoots....the McCanns are a very tidy lot!

Yes I noticed that Gerry does have a pair of beige trousers similar to the ones described by Tanner. I saw him either in a video or in an interview wearing these exact trousers. He also wore a dark brown top with them. I thought then it was odd, but hey, anyone could have similar clothing.

So your daughter is missing, you say the shutters are jemmied, you dont look for your daughter then, you write a time line twice about where everyone was, how often checks were made, you manage to delete phone calls and texts from your phone, you change your trousers, allegedly; Im just glad he has a sense of urgency about these things, all of couse more important than looking for your daughter.

Its like a 'spot the difference' competition.

I'm not very good at these sorts of things, but on one picture there is a cream/beige garment of some type but I could not say for certain they were pants, and on the other similar photo, the curtains are open wider and there is a white folded towel, I think, placed on the bed.

Other than that the pillows look to be arranged the same and the shoes/flip flops on the floor look the same, in the same place.

Looking again at these two pictures, could they actually be the bottom half of Kate's pyjamas - they don't look long enough for them to be Gerry's size. And not quite the right beige colour - more what you would described as oatmeal.

Off topic I know, but I've said this before as have many other posters, each time I see this photograph I believe Kate is hiding a big grin behind cuddle cat. I also believe Gerry is turning his head down to hide a smile.

I also thought that too Malena, I wonder what they are smirking about?, perhaps they are thinking how clever they are, and thinking how the Photographer has been taken in with the walk along the sand the sad couple, but I don't see a sad couple but a pair that are smirking and trying to hide it.

The photo without the trousers on the bed does not have the cable or wire in the photo, the cable which is partially lying on the floor in the photo with the trousers on the bed, is near end of the headboard nearest the wardrobe, the cable has gone in the photo without the trousers.

In Photo's 18 a 20 in the photo without the trousers on the bed, the object on the bed which is beige and black has been moved into a different position and the strap tidied up, in the photo the small one just underneath with the wardrobe also in the photo.
The white object near the headboard is also is in a different position towel or bedding? in the tidied up object on the bed photo, the cable is also missing in this photo.

The McCanns are, without doubt, smirking in this photograph. Kate can't disguise it even with CuddleCat held up to her face. Shameful. I wonder when it was taken.

yes, they do look like they are sniggering, try as I might to see 'grief'.....didn't take 'em long did it? This was the day after the 'wedding photos' of Maddie's birthday (12th) as they came out of church. They thought they'd got away with it i.m.o.

Indeed, the cable has gone - possibly charging something like a camera. Seems though, that these pictures were taken close together, unless the apartment had be sectioned off at that point. Shame they didn't do that the night of the 3rd May.

On the pants...a poster (True Stepper) on sky who posted all kinds of direct links to the evidence files (bless him) also included a link to the Smith family statement whereby Mr Smith stated that the suspect he saw was wearing beige pants possibly with Buttons (thus the link to Gerry's other photos of the beige pants with buttons). I thought that was interesting. However, this doesn't explain why the dogs only reacted to Kate's clothes. Of course, maybe Gerry's pants never made it into the lineup!!! The dogs didn't come into the picture for a couple of months after the 'incident'. Perhaps the clothing that the dogs reacted to were 'less obvious' ie the couple didn't think to get rid of the items that they weren't directly wearing at "the moment she was abducted" (wink, wink).
I'm sure Gerry has many pair of 'replacement' beige pants at his disposal.

As for the photo, I honestly do not think that they are smerking. I still think that their sadness about 'losing Madeleine' is second only to their fear about being exposed by the truth.

I have no doubt that they are smirking, none at all. I'll go so far as to say
that K is trying to stifle a laugh. What went before? I have no idea but this
picture is, for me, very telling. 10 days after your daughter 'disappears' no
normal parents would look like this! They should look drawn and haunted and
worried sick about what their daughter is going through, not kicking over the
traces on a sandy beach, they should be pulling their hair out. They should
be on their knees screaming at the injustice of it all. BUT THEY ARE NOT,
this picture speaks volumns in my opinion.

Those ugly pants were used a lot on many public appearances of Mr. Gerald, in fact I believe that one of the last appearances of the PANTS, was on the GMTV interview, which the ladies commented a lot. I couldn't find the link, but I'm sure that someone around here will recall the "bruah" that those pants caused among the ladies....

I wouldn't attribute much significance to those pants as they are quite ordinary. Most men wear them and the descriptions given by Tanner or the Smith's were not revealing, concerning the clothes (Tanner's wasn't definitely - at the end of the day we couldn't make out what she saw).

Don't know what the black thing is - maybe someone who can 'zoom' could get a better view of it. But - there are those tablets again - was Gerry's father around at this time of the photo's being taken - as that's what the explanation was for them.

Also on the chest of drawers it looks like there are some very long white,thick, winter socks. Surely these are not tennis socks - or maybe these are Gerry's fathers too!

Kate's parents arrived the day after (they heard the news around midnight 3rd/4th) and got a flight from Manchester later that day, Friday.
I doubt they were ever in 5a as the McCs were moved out the previous night, after staying at the Paynes and given another apartment.
I always thought the socks looked like sports socks. There was a discussion about the tablets a while back. They look like 'Pfizer' brand to me, but as they make allsorts could've been Gerry's antacids, whatever they were. Will have a look, it mentions them in his statement.
