Santiago del Valle and his sister Rosa are on trial for the young girl's murder




Forensic police involved in the Mari Luz Cortés case have said in court that they found no forensic evidence in their analyses linking the victim with the two suspects who are on trial for her murder, Santiago del Valle and his sister Rosa.

They said the only faint possibility are two fragments of hair, one found on Mari Luz’s body and the other in the boot of Rosa del Valle’s car, which analysis showed to be of the same type.

They could be from the same person, but it’s understood the possibility is one in 6,000. What is known is that they do not belong to either of the del Valle’s or any of their maternal family, nor to Isabel García, Santiago del Valle’s wife, or to Mari Luz or any of her maternal family.

Police experts in chemical analyses described evidence in Rosa del Valle’s car as non-conclusive, and said there was nothing in their detailed inspection of a shopping cart believed to have been used to transport Mari Luz to show that she had been there.

The boots Santiago del Valle wore on the day the youngster disappeared also proved difficult in providing samples and were described as ‘extremely clean’, Canal Sur reports.

Entomology analysis of insects recovered from Mari Luz’s body failed to determine the place or date of death.

It’s understood that Mari Luz’s father, Juan José Cortés, will be called to declare in court on Friday, but El Mundo reports that he plans to ask for that to be cancelled as he doesn’t want to be in the position of having to see those accused of his daughter’s murder.

These two charged with murder with hardly any evidence yet the mccans are wAlking after the dogs smelling the scent off death all over them and their hired car.

Isabel García, the wife of Santiago del Valle, who is currently in court charged with the murder of the Huelva five year old, Marí Luz Cortés, has said on live television that her husband killed the child.

Previously the accused’s wife had been considered as being capable of saying any story to defend her husband, but speaking to Ana Rosa Quintana on her Telecinco programme on Friday morning, she said that her husband killed the child by accident. She said the child fell at hit her head by accident, and once unconscious, her husband and sister in law, believing the child to be dead, put her in a shopping trolley and took her to the river in the car. They threw her in not knowing she was still alive. The story matches what the forensic scientists have already said during the court hearing.

Asked why they did not take the child to hospital, she replied that her sister in law was scared.
In tears she said, ‘I don’t want my husband to hate me’. She expressed regret for the suffering caused to Mari Luz’s family and said that she was very sorry.

The prosecutor in the case asked on Friday for Isabel García to be investigated for a possible crime of false witness, given that in court on February 16th she said her husband was not guilty of the crime and put the blame on her sister in law, Rosa del Valle.


The court case took a recess on the news of the revelation on television.

The family of Mari Luz Cortés has decided to place a private accusation in the case which is to be brought against Isabel García, the wife of the man who is currently on trial for the murder of the Huelva five year old.

Their announcement follows García’s shock admission on live TV that her husband, Santiago del Valle, killed the young girl. She had previously claimed that he was innocent, and had blamed his sister, Rosa del Valle, for Mari Luz’s death, but confessed on Telecinco’s Ana Rosa Quintana programme last Friday that her husband had accidentally killed the child.

Isabel García was remanded to custody without bail on Saturday, on charges of failing in her duty to prevent a crime and false testimony. She is currently being held in Madrid but is expected to be transferred to Huelva in the coming days.

Mari Luz’s father, Juan José Cortés, announced on his Facebook page this Wednesday that, after consulting with their lawyer, the family has decided to go ahead with the private accusation. ‘I know it will be difficult for us,’ he said, ‘but I believe that it is our duty to go all the way with this,’ to find out what responsibility García had in his daughter’s death.

So two hairs on Mari Luz, and 19 markers in the McCann case? One in prison and the other family multi- millionaires..... Grief
