Re: Olympics and Paralympics 2012 (and now the legacy-part one)
I don't know who was on the Committee besides Seb Coe but so far it has not been without problems and more to come I should think. Wales and Scotland have been given meagre events and as far a Wales is concerned, Cardiff has an Olympic Pool, Running track, plenty of Hotels, compact
City and only 2 hrs by Train to London, shorter than it took to get to the Olympic Village.!!!

With all the flak they have had I bet they do regret getting the
job now but dont think they should be paid all the money if they
havent done the job properly.

Of course they should be fined and have to pay for the 3,500 British Army. !!!! This fiasco is sending out bad vibes to the people flocking to London
to enjoy the Games. Instead of the Press and T.V. News constantly drawing attention to this matter, leave the post mortem until the Games are over.
Also, instead of taking 5 hrs rather than 45 minutes to get from A to B , try to rectify the problem now. It looks as if this Committee couldn't organise a p*** up in a Brewery.

I tell you cherry1, they should have had us on the committee , from the allocation of tickets to designating roads, providing Security, outsourcing
accommodation for the Athletes' and this is just the beginning.!!!!
T.V. is even showing the troops on the roofs of Flats in the East End supposed to be guarding the people. all it needs is for a terrorist Plane to drop
a bomb on the roof. I am going to have dinner now, catch you later.

You know Ive had a brilliant idea for the security staff, the army shouldn't be wasting their time on this, if they want people with a bit of muscle, mean, moody who will take no prisoners - what better than Lioned's army of Millwall supporters!

Lioned a Millwall Supporter? you cannot be serious.!!!!!! A few years ago Millwall were playing Cardiff, you cannot imagine the trouble after the Match..
The City Centre looked like a War Zone.
On topic, the London Cabbies have blockaded part of London over these Olympic Lanes , one Cabbie said they felt they were treated like Animals and had a living to make.

I think Millwall fans gave the Hammers a pasting as well!
I heard about the cabbies and the blockade, doesnt it mean if the cabs cant go down the olympic
lanes that the public are going to be in the cab for longer in traffic jams and have to pay more money!

Yes it does. On the News there were a few Tourists who seemed to be enjoying themselves I just hope the Weather improves. One stallholder said he has not noticed an increase in trade, in fact he said it is very quiet and thinks the shops will not benefit as much as expected. I lived in London for 6 years many Moons ago and pity the commuters trying to get about during the Games.

Lioned, there are thousands of tickets for sale from the Committee, it appears that Football in particular is not proving a popular choice, check it out you might be lucky and get Brazil v Millwall. Did you see my post that the Females in the Beach Volleyball may have to wear leggings if the weather
doesn't brighten up.

Re: Olympics and Paralympics 2012 (and now the legacy-part one)
Now, don't laugh...........
With just nine days to go until the Olympics, organisers are cutting up to half-an-hour off the opening ceremony following concerns over transport.
A spokesman for Locog - the Games' organising committee - said the decision was made to cut down the show because rehearsals in the stadium made it come in longer than planned.
A spokesman said the scenes are being tightened to ensure it finishes on time after concerns were raised that the audience would not be able to reach transport links afterwards.
"We have taken the tough decision to cut a small stunt bike sequence of the show - we will be paying contracts in full and giving full credit in the programme," the spokesman said.
Locog denied the decision had anything to do with the G4S staffing and checkpoint concerns.
Nick Buckles, chief executive of the private security firm, is under pressure to quit his £830,000-a-year job over the fiasco, which has resulted in the emergency deployment of soldiers, marines, airmen and police officers.
It comes after the firm admitted it would only be able to deploy 4,200 of the 10,400 guards originally promised.
The three-hour ceremony - which will start at 9pm on July 27 - has been designed by British movie director Danny Boyle.
His vision of a "green and pleasant land" will showcase the British countryside, using real sheep, cows and horses.
The model for the £27m project shows a farm and surrounding fields, with ploughing and two battling mosh pits.
--------------------------------------------------
A bike sequence eh???? Starting 9pm ? Danny Boyle? I think a list of the Committee should be available if only to question their ability. They should have employed the Queens' team who organise Royal events .

Apparently there are 400,000 tickets still unsold and Accommodation in London is becoming very scarce, so much so that small B&B's are being
encouraged to advertise . These are roughly £275 per night , as opposed to top class Hotels charging up to £1,000 per night.
