Re: Footie Thread...................
Initially I was disgusted whilst watching the Chelsea Swansea match however having since seen the tweet by the son (ball boy) of the Swansea City director made PRIOR to the match under the hash tag of #wastingtime and having watched the clip numerous times since, it is evident that he was laying on top of the ball.
Regardless of this though, at the end of the day, the ball boy was a child therefore Hazard deserves the punishment he will no doubt receive.

DECLINING ATTENDANCES IN FOOTBALL
Millwall, a club famous for its hardcore supporters, has seen its 20,146-seater stadium remain at just over half full for almost a decade despite big investment in attracting fans. That equates to almost £2.5m in lost revenue for the club every season, an amount which could drastically turn around the finances of any Football League club.
"It's a sign of the economic climate," says Andy Ambler, chief executive at Millwall. "We've been aware for a long time that there are other leisure activities that we're competing with and it's up to us to change to make sure families want to come and watch football on a Saturday afternoon."
A sign adorns the entrance for away supporters at Millwall, 'Welcome to the Lion's Den.' The South East London club's past reputation for hooliganism precedes them, but take a step inside the Den now and you are never too far away from walls of children's paintings or helpful staff. Service with a smile.
The club are the first to accept it is not what you expect to see at the Den, but this is part of the 'change' the club speaks about. A way to bring in new fans as well as keep the old ones coming back.
"Of course having a family stand is a conscious effort to bring in the fans," said Ambler. "This area is one of our most popular.
"We know statistically that kids choose who they're going to support by the ages of eight or nine and we also know that the Premier League is so big that you go into schools around our area and see kids with Manchester United or Chelsea shirts on.
"What we are is a community club and we need the community to support us back in order to survive."
Stadium consultant John Dix, who works with a number of clubs to help increase attendances, says Millwall are not the only ones looking at different ways of getting more people through the turnstiles.

Dating website claims Manchester United and Chelsea players among 40 MARRIED footballers signed up for secret affairsBy David Kent
PUBLISHED: 12:53, 25 January 2013 | UPDATED: 16:02, 25 January 2013
A dating website for married people seeking extra-marital affairs claims that more than 40 professional footballers from the Premier League and Football League - including players from Manchester United and Chelsea - have joined the site in search of secret lovers in the past year.
UndercoverLovers.com claim a dozen top-flight players, 19 from the Championship, eight from League One and five League Two are among the members who have registered on the site since January last year.
The website claims to be the UK’s foremost extra-marital dating agency with more than 695,000 members, which represents almost two per cent of the UK’s entire married population.
Mystery: Premier League and Football League players are among those signed up
The site was created to provide a safe, discreet and non-judgmental environment, where married women and men can meet.
Spokesperson Emily Pope comments: ‘There hasn’t been an unfaithful footballer expose in the tabloids for more than a year. Does this mean that the UK’s soccer professionals are suddenly behaving like saints? Sadly, at least for the footballers’ wives, not. We’ve identified 44 professionals from the Premier League and Football League who’ve joined Undercover Lovers in the last year alone.’
‘We guarantee our members’ anonymity so of course we can’t name names. However we can reveal that at least one player on the books of Premier League leaders Manchester United and one from Chelsea are members of UndercoverLovers.com and that the best represented club, with three players signed up, is a Championship team from the Midlands.
‘The most active professional footballer on the site plies his trade for a South Coast club. He’s certainly no saint!’
Pope added: ‘Playing away from home with married women, who have as much to lose from exposure as they do, massively reduces the risk of our footballers being found out.

ARSENAL NEWS
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stressed the club have not lodged any formal bids with their reported transfer targets.
The Gunners, who head to Brighton for Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round tie, have been linked with a string of players across Europe, from Barcelona's David Villa and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, Montpellier playmaker Younes Belhanda to West Ham's combative midfielder Mohamed Diame.
But the Premier League club are yet to make moves for any of the players on their wish-list, according to Wenger.
"If we perform at full potential we cannot expect any miracle from outside, we want to make things happen inside."
Arsene Wenger
Quotes of the week
He said of Villa: "We have been linked with David Villa, like Chelsea, but there's nothing concrete there. We are not on the case."
On Hummels, the Gunners boss added: "No, I can't imagine Dortmund selling their defenders in the middle of the season anyway and we have not made any approach there."
Diame stressed on Thursday he was happy at Upton Park, having only moved there from Wigan in the summer.
Wenger said: "We cannot come out with the names we are on. We have not approached West Ham on that."

Millwall 2-1 Aston Villa
The lions roar on to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a rather nervy win over a very poor Premier league club.Feel for the thousand or so Villa fans standing out in the freezing cold to watch another 'shock' defeat.
Says something that Millwall were bookies favourites to win.
Another great performance from the man mountain that is Danny Shittu.
Unfortunately the linesman got a few bottles thrown at him for some reason, maybe the traditional welcome to the Den,which will no doubt make the headlines and spoil a very well deserved victory.
Villa manager Paul Lambert will be sacked very soon.

Re: Footie Thread...................
lioned I hope you were not responsible for this!
The Football Association is to investigate after bottles were thrown at an official during Millwall's FA Cup home win over Aston Villa.
Referee Neil Swarbrick delayed play in the second half when plastic bottles were aimed at assistant Mark Scholes.
"We will be looking into it. We are waiting the referee's report plus details from an FA crowd advisor who was present," said an FA spokesman.
Millwall won Friday night's fourth-round tie 2-1 at the Den .
The Championship club knocked out their Premier League opponents thanks to John Marquis's 89th-minute header.
Bottles were thrown at Scholes after a foul was awarded against the hosts. Police made three arrests at the game.
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett said: "We can't condone people throwing bottles on to the pitch. That doesn't help us.
"There's a line between supporting your club and creating a passionate atmosphere but we don't want to step over that line."

Not me.We certainly are finding it hard to get rid of these idiots. There are cameras everywhere watching the crowd there is no hiding place but they still missbehave, and thats another three yobs banned for life,(probably why our attendances are on the decline as everyones banned).

Re: Footie Thread...................
A weekend of great FA Cup shocks !!
Not seen anything like this for quite a few seasons as the overpaid and overrated premier league players of liverpool, tottenham, norwich, villa, qpr and nearly chelsea clearly don't like getting out of bed in the morning when its a bit chilly !
Incredibly poor performances from those teams.
The magic of the FA Cup is back.
Some interesting ties for the next round.Great draw for Leeds away to Man City.Arsenal get an 'easy' draw at home to Blackburn.
The town of Luton will be quaking in their boots as the newspapers will loose no time in reminding us of the events of 1985 ! And no doubt ITV will be racing for the archives.
Hopefully the police and the clubs will have the sense to move the game to a lunchtime kickoff and shut the pubs.
I am more than a little worried about that one.

yes...quite! Leeds deserved their win, Spurs thought they had won by walking onto to the pitch but Leeds stuck at it
Well done to them and to Millwall ( ) Luton, Oldham, MK Dons. I am glad these teams won otherwise it would be so boring the top 10 premiership clubs always winning. The FA cup as well as the Carling cup (or whatever it is called these days) has been really good and it is nice to see the championship and division 1 clubs winning through...makes it more interesting and they all have a real chance. Its what it should all be about
Just a shame that chelsea sneaked a draw by the back door....Hopefully Brentford will get them in the replay

lucky to scrape a draw, lets hope they get smashed in replay.
