SHE is the woman who stood by Kristi Abrahams and Robert Smith in the dark days after Kiesha went missing.

She shielded them from unwanted attention and defended them at every opportunity.

But yesterday Alison Anderson led a vigilante group yelling abuse that chased a police vehicle carrying the charged parents.

For the past nine months, Kiesha's disappearance has consumed Ms Anderson.

She has hosted candlelight vigils in the little girl's honour, set up Facebook pages to keep her name in people's minds and fed each tiny detail she had to police, hoping it would lead to a breakthrough.

"I said from the day she went missing that I would fight for that little girl and I have done that the best I could," Ms Anderson said.

She was once a close friend of Abrahams, having met her when they lived in the same suburb. The day Kiesha was reported missing, and whispers began spreading thick and fast that the child's parents might have been responsible, Ms Anderson refused to believe it.

"[But] the thing that upset me the most was that they never once went out and looked for her," she said.

Outside Mt Druitt police station, Ms Anderson led a group of locals who screamed abuse at the couple as they were taken to a nearby court.

"I wish I could have said it to their faces," she said.

The arrests heralded closure for a western Sydney community desperate for answers. As police scoured under debris and fallen branches at what is alleged to be Kiesha's burial site, dozens made the lengthy trek into the bush to farewell Kiesha and pay their respects.

It was a good 90 minute walk though rugged terrain, but for these folk, it was a journey they wanted to make.

"We aren't here to spectate, we are here to pay our respects to that little girl," Caron Simpson said.

"People might think strange of us, but we have followed this case day-by-day for nine months, and we deserve to see the end too."

One father said: "Kiesha has been lying in here for all that time, and we had no idea."

Back in Hebersham, at the white fence that has become a shrine to Kiesha, people came to pay their respects. A group had organised for a candlelight vigil to be held for Kiesha's birthday last night - no one expecting it would be the same day her remains were found.

"I think it's about time," one of the women said.

"It's Good Friday, it's her birthday and something good happened today."

Yes, I do. I think that as Karen Matthews did this game of invite the press and convince your neighbours has become fatal to children.

They kille Kiesha and took off her artificial leg to fit her in a bag as a suitcase. It says so here.

They then went on a journey on her 7th birthday to check the grave and to talk things over, and even bought flowers on the way here driven in a taxi.

It beggars belief that both Karen Matthews and Smith and Abrahams would think up this abduction model and how to role play it when seen on the screen.

It made both invisible families visible.

I shall of course be asking for academic insight when they have been convicted of the murder of Kiesha.

The seven-month investigation by police into the disappearance of missing Sydney girl Kiesha Abrahams included electronic surveillance of her mother and stepfather.

Candlelight vigils were held overnight at the little girl's former home in Mount Druitt and the bush reserve in nearby Shalvey, where her body was found, on what would have been her seventh birthday.

People placed Easter bunnies, stuffed toys and other items along the front fence of the home.

Kiesha's mother Kristi Anne Abrahams and stepfather Robert Terry Smith were arrested around 1:00am Friday close to a park that had been previously searched for the girl's remains.

Yesterday they were both charged with her murder.

Police had been monitoring the couple electronically for several months.

A search of the area found skeletal remains believed to belong to the little girl.

They have been taken to the morgue at Glebe for examination.

Kiesha had been reported missing by her mother and stepfather in August last year.

Her mother told police her daughter had been abducted.

A massive police hunt failed to find a trace of her and her mother and stepfather made public appeals for any information.

Police now allege the pair killed Kiesha sometime between July 20 and 27 last year and reported her missing days later.

Abrahams and Smith did not appear by video link in court yesterday, with their lawyer saying they were too distressed.
They have been refused bail and will face court next Friday.

I wonder if keisha was taken out off the home and killed....did cadaver dogs go Into the home?

All that is happening at the moment and the programme to be aired on Monday night must be making the mccanns feel very uncomfortable at the moment NOT that I care much about that but I am wondering if the programme will end with it said that the detective was RIGHT all along or they will scrub that bit.

They were bugged and tagged.

It made sure each one could not evade where they were.
You can bet they had in the taxi they took the applied technology too.

Email and cell phone message surveillance I would imagine.

However if this guy was behing the house outside "bashing and screaming at" his pregnant wife I doubt they had to do much stealthy type surveillance but it sounds like they bugged their phone, found out they were going to the gravesite and nabbed them there.

Horrible people. A six yer old "flogged?" No wonder a lynch mob assembled; too bad they didn't get their hands on these people before they could crawl hiding with the police and ask not to have videos of themselves. The stepfather's mother may well be having chest pains - who raised this pig, and why did she do nothing to help this child, against her 6 foot tall 200 pound son?

The mob should be asking why over 30 complaints were made about abuse and nothing was ever done. Same with the Zahra Baker case - CPS had been called and called and called and had been to the house repeatedly. Nothing happened, the parents weren't even cautioned. When will we start protecting our kids from the monsters who happened to hatch them? The victims seemingly have no rights.

Even if they don't say it, it's pretty apparent the detective was right all along and that like with over 85% of "missing children" or killed children, it's the parents, family or a close personal friend of the family.

I wonder what it means to say the body was found in various locations - my God. Not antoher dismemberment like Zahra? How can people be this sick?
Maybe it was animal foraging or whatever - I think that was the case with little Caylee Anthony, the mother left her body in a garbage bag leaned up against a tree, not even buried. the remains were scattered over a wide area and tiny bones were found in mouse nests and things pretty far away, all that remained in the bag was a skull and some few bones of the skeleton.

These police would assume that the child would be killed by the parents and would be buried within a few miles of the house. That is the standard in a case like this. And yet it took the parents leading them directly to it, to find the body. If you think about it, in an area of dirt or similar scrub terrain, you can't dig up every square foot. You've got to know approximately where it is then bring cadaver dogs in to find the body.

I think MM"s earthly remains are within 20 miles of PDL and possibly closer, probably before being moved, within a mile of that flat of apartments. But unless you are going to dig everything up how do you find what you are looking for?

I would ignore the comments about the jargon and focus on what you are getting at. Connect the dots for me - what does the tennis court have to do with anything? Why is that a parallel in your mind with MM Case?

I am sure her father spent enough time there for it to feel like his second home, however you can't really hide a child in a tennis court.

From a bird's eye view I think looking down you can see the crime scene in a very different way and I am fascinated by that and any new forensics such as the statement analysis - in fact if I had to pick an area to focus that would be my favorite. I can't believe what they can get out of statements analysis now and that is why it was such a huge shame the interviews in McCann case were not undertaken in English or videotaped.

I think these kind of coincidences are interesting. (Her being found on Good Friday, her birthday being on that day).

Kate McCann doesn't want to go to book signings in case people scream in her face and heckle her or "attack" her. She never looked for her child and that is such a giveaway, when she and Gerry were boning up on how abductors behave and missing children literature and such like, why did they not notice that people who have murdered someone or know they are dead, do not go looking for them. They just can't think past what a collosal waste of time it would be.
