The family of missing British journalist Michael Dixon has written to Prime Minister David Cameron to appeal for help, following his intervention in the Madeleine McCann case.
LONDON, May 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael's brother, David Dixon, said: "It's great news for all families of Britons missing abroad that David Cameron and the Met are helping the McCanns. Now we're asking them to do the same for us."
The Dixon family's letter to Prime Minister Cameron says: "We need political action to break the wall of apathy ... Michael has not become famous like Madeleine, but he is no less important and our pain is no less sharp."
The Dixon family is asking for the PM's intervention to make sure the Metropolitan Police Authority reviews the case files and sends a mission to Costa Rica.
The British authorities have admitted there is a problem with red tape. Minister of state Jeremy Browne said in a letter on 12 May : "The Costa Rican police invited the UK police to discuss the case via a teleconference, but this offer was turned down."
Michael Dixon vanished after leaving his hotel room in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, on 18 October 2009.

Re: Family of missing British man Michael Dixon seeks equal treatment.
This is good news and I hope other families of missing people take the same action. David Cameron must give each one the same consideration.
Michael sounds like a very well travelled person and would not put himself at risk. But it does sound like Costa Rica is not the place to go to without company.
I hope they have some positive feedback from DC.

Yes, there are so many deserving families out there, whose missing loved ones should be given as much attention and resources as the Madeleine case.
Re: Family of missing British man Michael Dixon seeks equal treatment.
There is a lot of families out there that cannot understand why Kate and Gerry get preferencial treatment when it comes to looking for Madeleine. She is not the only child/person missing in the world and I dont see why any other child/person is less important. Its about time the families of the other missing people started to kick up and demand the same cordial treatment for their loved ones that David Cameron has done for Madeleine. I wonder how many other letters Cameron has got from families asking for the same for their missing child.

Come on David Cameron, show you arent Murdoch or the McCs puppet. Get reviews done for all the missing British people. Theyre worth it and deserve it, and all their circumstances are special.

Yet again the McCanns have created a precedent......Perhaps Winnie Johnson should press Cameron into reopenning the Moors investigation. Any rels of Jack the Ripper's victims out there should contact:-
The Right Honourable D. Cameron MP
10 Downing Street
London....

I think 3.5 million would go a long way towards helping to find Mrs Johnson's child on the moors. At least they know where the body is and it is definitely, imo, findable.
Re: Family of missing British man Michael Dixon seeks equal treatment.
Hiya Anna Esse, agree with that. Isnt there a helicopter that can scan ground, i think i read about it. Winnie Johnson would be delighted if someone somewhere gave funds to search the Moors for her missing, and as you say, findable son.

Re: Family of missing British man Michael Dixon seeks equal treatment.
Anna,
Cameron must surely have experienced a "senior moment" when he consented to the McCanns latest insanity. Either that or he will ensure whatever evidence the investigation turns up can and will be used against them.....hopefully.
It would be a nice gesture if they show good faith and good will and donate whatever few pennies remaining in their fighting fund towards the cost of the investigation...as well as the monies awarded as damages. Much better than spending it on mortgage payments and new motors
Winnie Johnson would in my opinion have been a far better recipient for the strange and sudden upsurge in a governmental desire to achieve closure in the case of a missing child and as you rightly point out there is only a limited area in which they need to search.
Perhaps Cameron will consider her plight, after all its only been 47 years since she last saw her son.

Sadly this has seemingly gone as unnoticed by the present regime in Downing Street as it was by the prvious batch of McCann puppets.
If there is any fairness or justice to be found in this world Winnie Johnson is surely overdue her bite at the cherry....
