Bad feeling in the Coalition...Hague is been backed for the job..........Taxi for Cameron
Hague would be a good replacement (imo)
I like Hague but his previous performance over keeping the pound didn't do him much good. I can't see him being voted in as PM.
I can, apart from David Davies he is the only one they could use imo.
Party leader maybe, but if there was another general election he'd lose (imo of course )

What is it about using the gay story? Do people really attach that much importance to it these day?
I prefer to think ....if he can do a good job for the country I don't care if he's gay, straight, a bit of each, black, white etc. Just get us out of this bloody mess.

tabloid dirt.

The tabloids tried to dish some dirt on him recently didn't they? About his "colleague" who he shared a friend with, in a completely platonic way, to save a bit of money in a hotel, even though he's got stacks and stacks of money.....
Tabloids are out to trash anyone, in any way they can. It makes me sick.
Sorry, I'm not even a political animal but if anything makes me mad it's the idea that one's sexual compass has any bearing on one's job. The public seems perfectly happy to re-elect proven fraudsters, stealing doesn't seem to make them unfit for government. In my view, as long as everything is between consenting adults, what business is it of anyone else?

Ditto, Angelina!
But if he's hidden his sexuality, that could be dodgy for his future. If he's gay, he should 'come out' first... it might actually be a good thing in the long run, particularly in the present climate of things.

If the Labour Party was up to the neck in Murdoch, the Tories are up to their eyeballs.
Let's not forget they were in the process of waving through the BSKYB deal either.

If only the press would stop making it such a big deal maybe people wouldn't be afraid to "come out" first. They could just be themselves and get on with the job of being a politician. Of course, if he is gay and he's lied about it then the damage is already done.
I remember one poster who said she'd never be treated by a gay Dr....I asked her if she was knocked down and the only Dr nearby was gay would she refuse his help...she didn't answer. Blasted hypocrite or fool, not sure which.

Re: A Dead PM Walking?
I realise now that cameron, right from the beginning, must off realised that by Murdoch backing him.....he was bought and sold by him and that as soon as he was prime minister ...Murdoch pulls the strings...Murdoch does the hiring and firing and all cameron is...is a front man, living in downing street with absolutely no power over the newspapers or the met.
Murdoch tells brookes to hire coulson to be a PR man for cameron.....and that's....that....no choice and that is my feeling, I don't care that Cameron has said...it was his idea....I don't believe that at all....and it's scary to think that a man like Murdoch has so much power over OUR prime minister.

I agree kitti and it's daft for people to assume it was exclusive to the Tory party. No-one will kid me if we still had Labour in they'd have dealt with the BSkyB deal any differently. It's been stopped and that's what matters.
The way l see it is that the Government are taking this opportunity to get shot of Murdochs power hold on Government, the real problem we've got to watch is MP's trying to bring in draconian powers that will allow them to run amok with impunity. Mind you, with the advent and power of the internet l don't believe that could ever happen.....

marxman wrote:TBH, I believe that DC will resign this week. He must do.
No PM who has been tainted so badly can command the
confidence of parliament.
His leadership and judgement is gone, and not to mention
his trust within democratic politics.
He is viewed by many as a media puppy, in Murdoch's
pocket to do what his paymaster desires.
Just think of DC's intention to curb the power of the
BBC and ponder on who's interests is he serving?
Let right be done and to hell with the political consequences.
A trustworthy and honest monkey is better than a
corrupt and dodgy PM!
And not only the intention to curb any power that the British public broadcasting service still has, but also the appointing of a media secretary who was determined to wave the News International bid for domination of the UK media through. Some public figures are saying this has gone far enough - it's a witch hunt with a political aim. In my opinion, it's massively important that a corporation that controls the majority of our media has any kind of hold on a democratically elected government. In a democracy the public information services and the ruling government should be separated. Whichever political party holds power, this needs investigation.

My personal opinion of Hague is that he's a twerp, but a politically experienced twerp, rather than an ex PR guy like Cameron. However, I can't help feeling that there may be stuff on him that he desperately wants to keep secret .

Funny, how the DM has hated DC from the start. He must have done something to them! How short peoples memories are;
Britain went to war when 70% of people were against it. Consequently it is a democracy.
In Iraq about 70% of people were in favour of the government and about 30% against it, consequently it was a dictatorship which needed to be erased.
And if you check Hansard: TB: ... I rejoice that my people live in a democracy where they are allowed to demonstrate.....
So go easy on DC, at least he doesn't think he's got a direct line to God. Making big mistakes, yes, corrupt, no, megalomaniac, absolutely not. He needs a much better team of advisors. O, for his very own Prince of Darkness.
Look at my earlier post: 1997 ( a healthy economy, booming housing market, no mass immigration and helpful banks (Wow! that was long ago!) and how do you think GB got TB finally to leave? Sleaze, my lovelies, but Labour were so much better at hiding it.
And by the way, a bald PM? Never!
Winston Churchill? Not that I'm comparing him to William Hague.

Looking at the above, we've got nothing to worry about then, advice from that quarter is going to help Ed no end in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory... Not that he needs much help, although an interpreter might help.
