U.N. has declared Famine in Somalia

The situation is horrendous with thousands fleeing to nearby Kenya which offers very little help There is an ongoing Civil War in Somalia and the U.N.
has been banned from the Country for a long time.

Hi Wallflower, apparently "Famine" is the worst designation you can have and the U.N. are powerless to act. The extract I watched was very upsetting
and one scene showed a Family who had left Somalia, the Mother just having given birth . The baby died and had to be buried under a Stone.

On Radio 4 this morning, someone said that people are dying in Somalia and all we're getting on the news is Rupert Murdoch.

Yes AnnaEsse, they are flocking to Kenya, which frankly is not offering much help and apart from the Famine the temperature is in the 30s and they have
no shelter from the Sun.

al shabaad(sp?) the islamic militant group in charge of large parts of somalia has said there is no famine in their area or any other part of somalia so they will refuse entry to aid agencies etc to their part parts of somalia.

This is what the aid people are up against bloody fanatics who,d rather see people die it makes me feel so helpless watching children die , how can they deny it.
