Very sad. I've hoped against hope that she would get through and rise above her addictions. Sadly, not to be. A very talented lady.

For sure.
Such an amazing voice. I always hoped she would turn herself round, get better and produce more music but it wasn't to be.

Such a tragic waste of youth, whatever her singing or musical talents. Those who surrounded and leeched off her should bear their share of responsibility. RIP Amy.

It was inevitable, pressed the self destruct button ages ago and wouldn't accept any help so what can you do.Those close to her will have to have a good look at themselves, but bottom line is she killed herself.

A misguided young woman with so much to offer but sadly she was responsible for her death , she could have cleaned herself up but chose the other path ,she and only she could have taken her finger off that button .

I don't think it's easy at all. But I also think that no one apart from the addict himself/herself can decide to get clean. If the person in question doesn't want to be helped and doesn't decide enough is enough, there will be no end to the destructive behaviour.
Re: Amy Winehouse Found Dead
Having first hand experience with a close family member with drink and drugs addiction, they don't always think they need to get cleaned up and think they can handle it. Luckily for some they get the wake up call at death's door and try and turn their lives round, but sadly for Amy and many others, like in my family, the call came too late. Even if they do beat it, the body is almost destroyed, leading to death from the legacy of the addiction, like organ failure, heart attacks etc. It really hurts me when people can say "they had a choice". When in the grip of addiction, there's very often no choice at all but to carry on to ease the torture and pain that drugs cause in the first place.

Addictive personalities like Amy Winehouse
I can relate to everything that "Dazed and confused" says as the partner of a close relative of mine has mild schizophrenia and is alcoholic and a cocaine user when that's available. There are times when I am almost scared to answer the phone for fear of what the news might be. I don't think that anyone deliberately sets out to be an addict and I can only feel sympathy, not condemnation, for those like Amy who end up wasting their lives.

Agree with everything you say, except that I believe there is always a choice. As long as there is life, there is a choice. And hopefully more and more addicts will reach out. I don't have an addictive personality but I know people who have. I know someone who has been a drug addict for around 20 years. He had all the support someone can imagine. Family with money, luxurious rehab facilities here and abroad and everything failed because the initiative never came from him. Once he was so out of it and longing for drugs so much that he broke his mother's arm when she refused him money to buy drugs. Then one day he reached for help. He has been clean for the last 21 years. I wish everyone was able to reach out for help before that dreadful call.

Tears And Tributes After Amy's Tragic Death
7:32pm UK, Sunday July 24, 2011
Simon Newton, Sky News reporter, in Camden
Tributes from across the world have been pouring in for Amy Winehouse who
died at her home in north London at the age of 27.
Throughout the day, fans of the Back To Black singer, many in tears, have
been laying flowers and other tributes including bottles of vodka at an
impromptu shrine opposite her house.
"Amy you touched our heart and soul - so sorry it's over," said one message.
Another simply read: "Amy, you were amazing."
By mid-afternoon several hundred people had gathered opposite Winehouse's
£2.5m home. Neighbours said she had only lived there for a matter of months
after the house was renovated.
Two police officers stood guard on the front gate and the area remained
cordoned off. Outside, a BMW 4x4, believed to belong to the singer or her
security team, remained parked.
One fan, Brandon Hayward, 16, told Sky News the singer was his hero. Wearing
make-up and his hair styled like the dead star, he described her as "his Amy"
and said he was still "stunned" by her death.
Paramedics were called to the soul star's house in Camden Square yesterday
afternoon but she was said to be "beyond help" and pronounced dead at the
scene.
Police say it is too early to speculate on a cause but Sky sources believe a
suspected overdose could be to blame.
Winehouse
had been troubled by drink and drugs problems throughout her career but news of
her death has come as a shock to many.
A spokesman for the singer said: "Everyone involved with Amy is shocked and
devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends."
Her family said in a statement: "Our family has been left bereft by the loss
of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece.
One of the many tributes left for the singer at Camden
Square
"She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember
her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time."
Fans have been flocking to the singer's home to lay flowers, cards and
messages, as well as visiting Camden's Hawley Arms pub - once a favourite haunt
of the star.
The managers of the pub told Sky News they were "deeply saddened" and
described the singer as "a great friend".
Producer Mark
Ronson, who had worked closely with Winehouse, said: "She was my musical
soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my
life."
Singer Michelle Gayle told Sky News that Amy's father Mitch was devastated.
He is flying back to the UK from New York where he had been due to perform.
Comedian Russell Brand
has praised the singer's "genius", posting a lengthy tribute to his friend on
his Twitter page.
He wrote: "From her oddly dainty presence that voice, a voice that seemed not
to come from her but from somewhere beyond even Billie and Ella, from the font
of all greatness.
"A voice that was filled with such power and pain that it was at once
entirely human yet laced with the divine. My ears, my mouth, my heart and mind
all instantly opened.
"Winehouse. Winehouse? Winehouse! That twerp, all eyeliner and lager
dithering up Chalk Farm Road under a back-combed barnet, the lips that I'd only
seen clenching a fishwife fag and dribbling curses now a portal for this holy
sound.
"So now I knew. She wasn't just some hapless wannabe, yet another p***** up
nit who was never gonna make it, nor was she even a ten-a-penny-chanteuse
enjoying her fifteen minutes. She was a ******* genius."
Music
Greats Dead At 27
Amy Winehouse's death at the age of 27 sees
her join a line-up of music artists who died tragically young at the same age,
known as Club 27 or Forever 27
Brand also referred to Winehouse's addiction problems and the fact she has
become another young star whose "unnecessary deaths have been retrospectively
romanticised".
He added: "Whether this tragedy was preventable or not is now irrelevant. It
is not preventable today.
"We have lost a beautiful and talented woman to this disease. Not all addicts
have Amy's incredible talent. Or Kurt's or Jimi's or Janis's, some people just
get the affliction.
"All we can do is adapt the way we view this condition, not as a crime or a
romantic affectation but as a disease that will kill."
Sylvia Young, of Sylvia Young Theatre School, where Winehouse was given a
half-scholarship as a youngster, described her as a "a wild spirit" who "was her
own person".
US singer Carole
King, whose song Will You Love Me Tomorrow was covered by Winehouse,
said she was "very grateful" the star had "put her wonderful talent" into
recording the track.
Amy Winehouse performing in 2006
Kelly
Osbourne tweeted that she had "just lost 1 of my best friends" and
fellow singer Lily
Allen said Amy Winehouse's death was "beyond sad".
Music legend Tony
Bennett, who recorded the classic pop standard Body And Soul with
Winehouse last March, issued a statement calling her "an artist of immense
proportions".
The Back To Black artist had cancelled all tour dates and engagements last
month after a series of erratic public appearances.
Her last show saw her jeered off the stage by fans during a shambolic
performance in Belgrade in June.
She appeared briefly on stage at the Roundhouse in Camden with her
goddaughter Dionne
Bromfield on Wednesday night during an iTunes Festival concert.
Winehouse performing on stage for Rock in Rio
London Ambulance Service said it was called to Winehouse's home at 3.54pm on
Saturday.
Forensic officers were seen going in and out of the building and a black
private ambulance pulled up outside the house at around 8.45pm.
Officials bearing a red body bag emerged minutes later.
Met Police Superintendent Raj Kohli said it would be "inappropriate" to
discuss what killed the singer before a post-mortem examination had taken
place.
He added: "Inquiries continue as to the circumstances of the death. At this
early stage it is being treated as unexplained. There have been no arrests in
connection with this incident."

Its not easy i never said it was , but there is only so much family and friends can do , the drug is always more powerful and reason is lost , you can only help someone to a point then its up to them . You cannot help someone who does,nt want to help themselves.
