The bag was piled up with the rest of the luggage in the boot of a car due to board the ferry for the Peninsula
A stowaway migrant was found inside a sports bag on Tuesday, in a car which a relative was about to drive on the ferry to Melilla to the mainland Spain. EFE reports that the relative was driving to his home in Barcelona, where he lives with his wife and son.
The Civil Guard were inspecting all the vehicles which were due to board, when one of the offices noticed a slight movement in the bag inside the car’s boot. The man who was found inside had to be helped out of the bag, and was disoriented and breathing rapidly.
There was little ventilation in the boot, where the bag was piled up with the rest of the family’s luggage. The stowaway was however in good health and did not need any medical treatment.
On Wednesday, a group of eight Sub Saharan migrants were intercepted off the coast as they were trying to reach Melilla in an inflatable toy boat. They are thought to have set off for the trip from the Moroccan port of Beni-Enzar.
All were in good health.
