POLICE today revealed they are stepping up the hunt for missing Bispham teenager Paige Chivers.

More detectives are being drafted in as concern grows for the safety of the 15-year-old.

It will be two months tomorrow since Paige was last seen.

In a bid to bring witnesses forward detectives today released a new picture of the former Mongomery High School pupil attending a family wedding.

Det Sgt Jan Beasant from Blackpool Police, who is leading the search, said: "As time goes on concerns over Paige's whereabouts obviously grow.

"Two months is a long time to be away for and we haven't had the amount of people coming forward to help we might have hoped for.

"All her family and friends are located in and around Blackpool and if she is asking friends to hide her they may be doing so but we just want to know she is safe.

"This has now been stepped up to a larger inquiry team and we have a lot of officers working on the case.

"She is not in any trouble and if there's a reason why she is staying away then we can help."

Eight detectives plus senior officers are now involved in the inquiry into Paige's disappearance and police have describe her as a high risk missing person.

They believe Paige may have had a mobile telephone and are appealing for anyone with the number to come forward.

The last confirmed sighting of Paige was on Thursday August 23, when three people saw her boarding the number 11 bus on Ashfield Road in

Det Sgt Beasant added: "We really want to hear from anybody who may have seen her get on that bus with either carrier bags or a trolley."

Paige is described as 5ft 5in tall, of medium build with shoulder-length dark brown straight hair.

She has a distinctive tattoo on her back and usually wears gold hoop earrings and has two small sovereign rings.

THE police are appealing again for the safe return of a Blackpool teenager.

OFFICERS are asking Paige Chivers, 15, of Longford Road, to make contact with them to let them know that she is safe.

Paige walked out of the family home following an argument on Thursday, August 23. She packed a suitcase of belongings and has not been in contact with her father since.

Police believe Paige got on the number 11 bus at Ashfield Road in Bispham later that day with a blue or purple trolley style suitcase. This is the last time she was seen.

She is described as: white, female, 5'5" tall, of medium build, with shoulder-length dark brown straight hair. She has a distinctive 'Playgirl' tattoo on the back of her neck.

Paige usually wears gold hoop earrings and has two small sovereign rings. She did have some money with her but it is likely she will have spent that by now. It is not known what clothing Paige was wearing when she left home but did take most her belongings with her when she left.

Detective Sergeant Jan Beasant said:" It is now almost two months since anyone has heard from Paige and due to her age we are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety and well-being.

"Paige has been described to us a 'streetwise' girl but nevertheless she is only 15 and we need her to contact us or her father to say that she is safe and well.

"We are appealing to the public for their help and would ask that if anyone has seen Paige or knows where she might be that they contact police at Blackpool on( 01253) 293933."

Paige's father, Francis Chivers has also appealed for his daughter's safe return and said: "If Paige hears or sees this appeal I would ask her to contact me or the police as soon as possible. I want her to know she is not in any trouble. I know that we had cross words before she left but I'm sure we can sort things out. Please, please get in touch so that we can get you home safely."

POLICE were today looking for a woman they believe may have been the last person to see missing Blackpool schoolgirl Paige Chivers.

It came after the 15-year-old's father made a plea for the former Montgomery School pupil to come home.

Police today revealed they want to find a woman who was seen speaking to her as she boarded a bus on Ashfield Road, Bispham, on August 23.

Det Insp Martin Clague, said: "While she was at the bus stop, a woman approached Paige. Before talking to Paige, we think she'd tried to go to Stewart's Antiques on Ashfield Road."

Frank Chivers revealed his daughter's half-sister Maddison Houghton had given birth to a new baby boy, Connor.

He said: "Paige, if I've upset you, I'm sorry. Please come home".

Meanwhile, detectives are refusing to compare the case to that of Blackpool teenager Charlene Downes who disappeared four years ago today.

Two men face a trial in January charged with murder and the disposal of her body.

Paige is said to be 5ft 5in, medium build with shoulder-length dark brown hair. She has a "Playgirl" tattoo on her neck.

THE reward offered in the desperate hunt for missing schoolgirl Paige Chivers was today doubled.

Police looking for the 15-year-old Bispham girl – who has now not been seen in more than three months – announced the reward fund now stands at 2,000.

Just last week, a local business, which wishes to remain anonymous, put up 1,000 for anyone who could provide information that will help bring the former Montgomery School pupil back home safely.

Now a man, who lives in Blackpool and also wishes to remain anonymous, has said he will raise the reward to 2,000 for such information.

Paige, from Longford Road, walked out of the family home following an argument on August 23. The last confirmed sighting of her was later that day boarding a number 11 bus on Ashfield Road.

Last month, Paige's father Frank Chivers made an appeal asking his daughter to let the family know she is safe. Police in Blackpool also put up posters.

Det Chief Insp Neil Esseen, from Lancashire Police's Major Investigation Team, said: "We are incredibly grateful to both the local business and the gentleman who have kindly offered rewards.

"We just hope this will prompt somebody to come forward with information that will lead to Paige's safe return and allow her to be reunited with her family.

"It is now three months since Paige was last seen and both the police and her family are growing increasingly concerned."

"It was a troubled family," says Beasant. Her mother died in February and Paige lived with her father, Frank, and brother, Jack.

After her disappearance, the facts that the police slowly pieced together about Paige's life point to a young girl mixing in an adult world far beyond her years.

Beasant says that, after leaving home, Paige went to the home of a 50-year-old man whom Paige had previously described as her "friend". "She had regularly gone to that man's address," said Beasant. "I do not view such a relationship as appropriate."

This "friend", who police do not wish to name at the moment, told Paige that she could not stay at his home. He says he walked her to a nearby bus stop and told her to go to a local drop-in hostel for troubled kids in Blackpool. She never arrived.

Police are also interested in a woman who describes herself as Paige's "best friend". The woman, aged 20, says she did not see Paige for two months prior to her disappearance. It was this woman who introduced Paige to the 50-year-old man.

"She's been interviewed and cannot give an account for why she hadn't seen Paige in months when they appeared to live in each other's pockets. I find it hard to swallow," said Beasant. The woman lives in a hostel.

All three lived what police described as "chaotic lives". Paige sometimes left Blackpool to spend days with older boys.

Some teenage acquaintances of Paige say they saw her at the bus-stop that afternoon, but Beasant is sceptical about their credibility. The 50-year-old man's house has been subjected to a forensic search.

Despite a £2000 reward offered for information on Paige's whereabouts, there has been little response. "This suggests she is no longer in Blackpool," Beasant said.

Plea for missing girl

THIS is the smiling face one Blackpool family wants to see this Christmas.



The image is the latest photograph released by the father of Paige Chivers, the Bispham schoolgirl last seen getting on a bus four months ago.

Fifteen-year-old Paige walked out of her Longford Avenue home in August after an argument with her father Frank and has become the focus of a major investigation by Blackpool police.

Officers have now revealed there was a sighting of the former Montgomery High School pupil on September 4 on Red Bank Road.

A friend recognised Paige as she walked towards the Promenade at around 1pm. It is one of more than 30 reported sightings, many of which have since been discounted.

Det Insp Martin Clague, of Blackpool CID, said: "We're very concerned about the safety and welfare of Paige. There have been a number of different sightings, but most are unconfirmed. The last time she was seen by more than one person was getting on the bus on Ashfield Road, but it's also thought she was seen on Red Bank Road in September so any information corroborating that or other sightings would be welcome."

Officers launch review of Paige

OFFICERS investigating the disappearance of a Bispham school- girl will conduct a review in the New Year.

Detectives who have been searching for Paige Chivers since she went missing in August will go back to friends and take another look over the reported sightings in a bid to find the 15-year-old.

The review comes as officers reveal for the first time that the home of a 50-year-old man was searched during the early part of the inquiry.

It is thought she went to visit the man, said to be a friend, after having a telephone argument with her dad Frank and walking out of their Longford Avenue home.

The man told officers he refused to let Paige stay and walked her to the bus stop with instructions to go to a town centre hostel.

The last confirmed sighting of the former Montgomery High School pupil was as she got on a bus on Red Bank Road, Bispham, on August 23.

Police in Blackpool have this morning arrested two people in connection with the disappearance of Paige Chivers.

A 53 year old man and a 19 year old woman, both from the Blackpool area were arrested early this morning and are now being questioned by detectives at Blackpool police station.

The 15 year old school girl went missing from her Bispham home after a family argument on August 23rd last year and the last confirmed sighting of her by her family was that day getting on a number 11 bus on Ashfield Road.

Suspects bailed in murder inquiry

Two people arrested on suspicion of the murder of a missing 15-year-old girl have been released on bail.
Paige Chivers went missing from her home in Bispham, Blackpool, after a family argument on 23 August 2007.

The last confirmed sighting of her by her family was on that day, as she got on a number 11 bus on Ashfield Road.

A 53-year-old man and a woman, 19, both from the Blackpool area, were arrested on Monday and have been released on bail until 29 January.

LANCASHIRE'S police chief says he "fears the worst" as the hunt for Paige Chivers today continued to draw a blank.

The 19-year-old woman and 53-year-old man answered bail at Bonny Street police station on Tuesday, and questioned for a second time, before being released.

Paige has been missing since August 23 after leaving her home on Longford Avenue following a family row.

LANCASHIRE Constabulary are turning to the internet for help to track down missing Blackpool schoolgirl Paige Chivers’ on the sixth month anniversary of her disappearance.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Toole, who is leading the investigation, has posted a video on popular website YouTube appealing for information about Paige’s whereabouts. Lancashire police are also planning to launch their own webpages on social networking sites Facebook and Bebo to help raise awareness about her disappearance.

It is now six months since Paige Chivers walked out of the family home on 23 August 2007 following an argument with her father.

Paige has also missed a milestone birthday on Sunday 17 February when she would have turned 16 years old.

The pain of not knowing

FRANK and Dorothy Chivers are clinging to a thread of hope. The pair pray that their 15-year-old granddaughter is safe, despite officers investigating her disappearance arresting two people on suspicion of murder.
Speaking from their home in Bispham, Dorothy Chivers, 69, said: "I don't know what it is but I've got a feeling, I still think she is around somewhere.
"I'm looking out for her all the time. We've always got our eyes peeled, thinking 'where are you?'"
The couple say their "lovely girl" is the first thing on their mind when they wake up in the morning.
Frank Senior, 73, said: "Every day we think about what she is doing. Every time I see a group of girls, I check if she's with them. It's automatic."
Paige went missing on August 23, having walked out of her Longford Avenue home after an argument with her father.
Despite unconfirmed sightings, Paige was last seen getting on a number 11 bus on Ashfield Road in Bispham and heading into Blackpool.
The investigation was extended to the North East and Manchester and a £2,000 reward put up before Christmas by a local businessman and the police.
Mrs Chivers describes when the family came to realise it wasn't just "one of those normal teenage walkabout acts".
She said: "You know what teenagers can be like. She'd gone missing several times before for two or three days.
"She'd just turn up and say she'd been staying at a friend's house. She'd never tell us where, though.
"We didn't worry much at first, we thought she'd be back. But then she was missing for a week."
Searching for reasons to explain why she has not come home, Paige's grandparents say the teenager found it hard to come to terms with her mother Sheila's death last February.
Mrs Chivers, 48, died suddenly after collapsing at home following a heart attack.
Dorothy added: "Losing her mum, that was the turning point. Frank (her father) was working full time as a roofer – he had to pay for the mortgage and food. He had to delegate jobs to the kids to keep the house clean and tidy and keep on top of the washing and cooking."
Mr Chivers added: "She's had an argument with her dad. She just walked out and banged the door. Everybody expected her to come back.
"Maybe there was too much pressure on her with losing her mum.
"She was very upset when Sheila died.
She took it hard. They were all close to Sheila. She would take them to play on the beach."
The shock of finding out that police had arrested two people on suspicion of their granddaughter's murder last week became too much to bear.
Mrs Chivers said: "I didn't know they had arrested two people till I saw it on the news. We thought that was it. I just sat down and cried.
"You can't describe how you feel. It was sickening to think they had picked two people up."
The couple – a 53-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman – were taken into custody, but later released.
Paige's devoted grandparents say they are trying to keep morale high for the sake of Paige's father Frank, and her brothers and sisters.
Mr Chivers said: "We're always clinging on to this hope. We live day by day."
The couple compared their anguish during the last five months to the ordeal faced by Charlene Downes' parents.
Blackpool schoolgirl Charlene, 14, went missing in November 2003. She has never been traced.
Mrs Chivers said: "We didn't understand what her parents were going through until it happened to us. You don't understand what it does to your life."
Despite the recent arrest, the family is still hopeful the youngster will turn up safe and well.
They hope the former Montgomery High School pupil will be able to follow her dream of becoming a nursery nurse.
Mrs Chivers said: "She loves kids. She used to babysit her niece, Georgina. And she'd bring her to see us. She used to come through the back door and say 'Hi Gramps and Nan'. We'd go into the kitchen for a cuppa and girlie chat.
"She'd say she wanted to be a nursery nurse. She used to do a lot of babysitting for neighbours. She was a nice girl. She was very street wise and feisty and she could stick up for herself but she was very loving. She did everything for us."
Mr Chivers added: "We've got our fingers crossed. We're hoping, that's all we can do.
"We don't know if she's frightened, but all she has to do is phone up and say 'Eh up Gramp, it's Paige, I'm OK.'
"That's all I want to know. It'd put our mind at rest. I wouldn't question her and she could reverse the charges.
"If you are with us, let us know. Just pick up the phone."
For every day Paige is missing, her grandparents sit at home hoping they will hear the back door open. Hoping their "lovely girl" will walk back into their lives.

Police from Lancashire are following up a possible sighting of missing schoolgirl Paige Chivers.

The 16-year-old walked out of her family home in Bispham, Blackpool, on 23 August last year after a row.

Several people contacted police to say they had seen Paige in the Croydon and south coast areas after an appeal was broadcast on a BBC programme.

Reported sightings near London of missing Blackpool teen

Reported sightings of missing Blackpool teenager Paige Chivers have led police to a London suburb.

The 16-year-old has been missing from her Bispham home since August last year.

Recent television and press appeals have lead unconfirmed sightings of Paige and officers from Lancashire police have travelled to Sutton to pick up CCTV footage.

The lead came after a woman reported seeing Paige's distinctive Playgirl tattoo on her upper back outside a fast food restaurant in the town.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Toole, who is in charge of the investigation, said: "We are not getting excited as these sightings are from people who don't know Paige and have never met her.

"But it shows people are still interested and still trying to come forward and help, which is encouraging."

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information to help find missing teenager Paige Chivers who has not been seen for 10 months.

The 16-year-old walked out of her family home in Bispham, Blackpool, in August after a row with her father.

Officers investigated a number of possible sightings after an appeal on BBC1's Missing Live programme.

Despite visits to Croydon and the South coast, her disappearance remains a mystery, police said.

A team of detectives has been assigned to the case and recently produced and distributed new posters around the town to remind people the teenager had still not been found.

'Remains vulnerable'

Det Supt Kevin Toole said: "Both myself and my team remain 100 percent committed to this investigation, as much now as we were on day one and we refuse to give up hope of finding Paige.

"The fact that she has now turned 16 makes no difference to the investigation. She was 15 when she went missing and remains vulnerable due to her age.

"I would urge anyone with any information about Paige, even the smallest detail, to come forward to police."

Paige is white, 5ft 5in (1.65m) tall, medium build, with shoulder length blonde/brown hair and a distinctive Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck.

She often wears gold hoop earrings and has two small sovereign rings.

Missing teen London and Brighton clue

POLICE have received a number of reported sightings of missing Blackpool teenager Paige Chivers in the South East of the country.
The news comes after The Gazette revealed, last month, how Lancashire officers travelled to London to investigate reports a woman had spotted the 16-year-old in Sutton in the south the city.

Now detectives have confirmed there have been "a cluster" of sightings in the area, sparking speculation she may be hiding out in the south.

POLICE have spent the last few days retracing the steps of a missing Blackpool schoolgirl – almost a year after she vanished.
Paige Chivers vanished from her home on Longford Avenue, Bispham, after a row with her father.

Despite numerous appeals from members of her family for the former Montgomery School pupil to come home, the 16-year-old has not been seen.

Officers have this week been visiting houses on All Hallows Road and streets around the gala field at Bispham – the last place Paige is thought to have visited before she vanished.

Det Supt Kevin Toole, who is leading the investigation, said: "Detectives and neighbourhood policing teams have been speaking with members of the public in an area known to have been frequented by Paige on the date she disappeared.

"The investigation into Paige's disappearance is very much ongoing and this activity is a continuation of the major investigation that has now been going on for over 10 months.

"I'm still keen to hear from anyone with information that may help us. I'm absolutely convinced people in Blackpool hold the clues which will lead us to Paige's whereabouts."

Officers were in the area surrounding Montgomery High School on All Hallows Road in Bispham as the inquiry continued.

Paige was last seen on August 23 boarding a bus on Ashfield Road, Bispham.

Since then, her family have put out a number of impassioned pleas through the media begging her to come home safely.

Paige's case has also been highlighted on televised missing persons programmes.

The missing youngster is described as white, slim build, pale complexion and dark brown, shoulder-length hair.

She is known to favour hooped earrings and two small sovereign rings and has her name tattooed on the back of her neck.

Lifelong friend's appeal to missing teenager

AS toddlers they played together – but today their lives could not be more different.
For while Aimee Hainsworth is looking forward to training to be a teacher, Saturday marked six months since her friend Paige Chivers went missing.

Now Aimee, a 17-year-old student at Blackpool and The Fylde College, has added her voice to the appeals for Paige to come home and hopes her message might succeed where others have so far failed.

She said: "I have known Paige all my life, and if she is too scared to phone anyone else, I just want to say to her to contact me and I will let everyone know she is safe."

Aimee's family has always been close to Paige's family, and Aimee's mum, Lorraine, is now in a relationship with Paige's dad, Frank.

Paige, who would now be 16, knew about the growing closeness which developed between Frank and Lorraine after the sudden death of her mum Sheila from a heart attack a year ago, and appeared happy for her dad.

Aimee, who lives in Annesley Avenue, Layton, added: "I feel really sorry for Frank and what he is going through.

"I want to see her again so we can have a bit of a laugh again. So I'm asking her to get in touch with me if she thinks that is easier."

Paige was last seen after she walked out of the family home in Longford Road, Bispham, following an argument. The last confirmed sighting was on Thursday, August 23 when three people saw her boarding the number 11 bus in Ashfield Road, Bispham.
