Missing girl clues 'in Blackpool'
Detectives say the clues to finding a Blackpool teenager who has been missing for a year are in the resort.
Paige Chivers, 16, walked out of home in Bispham on 23 August 2007 following a row with her father. The last sighting of her was later that day.
Det Ch Insp Neil Esseen said: "I am absolutely convinced that people in Blackpool hold the clues that will lead us to her whereabouts."
He said police were "committed" to finding Paige.
Paige has a tattoo of a Playboy bunny on her neck with "Playgirl" written under it. There is a £2,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
Her case has been profiled on BBC One's Missing Live programme and there have been possible sightings of her reported across the UK including locations such as Glasgow, Nottingham, London and Cornwall.
Paige's brother, Peter Houghton, appealed for Paige to contact him at a police press conference on Friday.
"Please get in touch Paige, you are not in any trouble. If it is only to let us know that you are safe and well," he said.
He said her family had not given up hope of finding her.
"If we see a similar person to her, we'll rush up or we'll try to get a better look at their face," he said.
"It's unfortunate that it's not Paige, so we just keep going."
Lancashire Police are reviewing previous lines of inquiry.
The force is also considering increasing the number of officers working on the case.
Det Ch Insp Esseen said: "I would like to reassure Paige's family that everything possible is being done to find Paige and put an end to their year of misery.
"This is an ongoing investigation with a dedicated team of officers working around the clock.
"I am absolutely convinced that people in Blackpool hold the clues that will lead us to her whereabouts and I am committed to finding her."
Paige's last movements are still unclear but she is thought to have boarded a number 11 bus from a bus stop on Ashfield Road, Blackpool.
The youngster is 5ft 5in (1.65m) and slim, with shoulder length light brown hair. She often wears gold hoop earrings and has two small sovereign rings.

Missing girl police search garage
Police investigating the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl in Blackpool are searching a garage in the resort.
Paige Chivers, 16, walked out of her family home in Bispham on 23 August 2007 following an argument.
Despite repeated appeals, there have been no confirmed sightings of the teenager in the last 16 months.
Officers are still looking for Paige and are searching a garage on Cranbrook Avenue in Bispham as part of one line of inquiry, police said.
Leaflets with details of her disappearance are also being handed out to people living in the area.
Paige was last seen carrying a blue or purple suitcase and boarding the number 11 bus at Ashfield Road, Bispham.
She is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, with brown hair and a "Playgirl" tattoo on the back of her neck.
A 53-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Blackpool, were arrested in connection with her disappearance in January but were later released without charge.

Fresh clues in Blackpool teen hunt
Published Date: 11 December 2008
DETECTIVES have uncovered fresh clues in the hunt for Paige Chivers.
Police dramatically sealed off a garage in Bispham yesterday – yards from the missing teenager's former school – and scene of crime officers carried out a thorough search.
A number of items were taken away for forensic analysis.
Paige, who was 16 at the time, has not been seen since she walked out of her Bispham home following a row with her father in August last year.
And while police are refusing to reveal what they found within the garage on Cranbrook Avenue, near Montgomery High School, they admitted some items had opened new lines of inquiry.
Det Chief Insp Dermott Horrigan, of Blackpool Police's Major Incident Team, said: "This was just one line of inquiry we've followed up in the ongoing investigation to find out what's happened to Paige.
"I want to give reassurance to not only the family but the community at large we have not, and will not, stop looking for Paige.
"We're not considering the owner of the garage as being suspicious, but have found items in there which are of interest to us and will be looking into who has access to the premises.
"The search has opened up one or two new avenues of inquiry which we will be following up. It wasn't somewhere where we expected to make any kind of significant find, but there are a number of items, which I can't go into, which we'll be looking at in the coming weeks."
Vans
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 10.30am yesterday.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: "I saw a few police vans pull up. They've been coming out of there with all sorts of stuff. It's a bit shocking to see all the men in white suits near your house."
The Gazette witnessed officers wearing protective clothing carrying various items including picture frames and a drum.
A police sniffer dog went into the property before coming outside and checking over the items brought out by officers.
Various items were then put into a van to be taken away for further examination and forensic testing.
Lorraine Williams, partner of Paige's dad Frank, said: "They told us what was going on today but they didn't really want to get our hopes up.
"We still think she's alive and would love to have her back for Christmas. We don't want a second Christmas without her.
"If she's reading this we'd like her to know how much we love her and just want to hear from her. Anybody who has any information, no matter how small, should get in touch with the police. You never know how important that small thing could be in helping find Paige."
Paige was last seen boarding the No 11 bus at Ashfield Road, Bispham, on August 23 last year after a row with her dad.
Paige is around 5ft 5in tall, with brown hair and a 'Playgirl' tattoo on the back of her neck.
A 53-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Blackpool, were arrested in connection with her disappearance in January, but were later released without charge.

Anonymous note over missing girl
An anonymous note has been sent to police investigating the disappearance of Lancashire teenager Paige Chivers.
The 16-year-old walked out of her family home in Bispham in August 2007 following an argument.
Officers said a anonymous note sent to Bispham police station suggested someone knew what happened to Paige. They want the sender to contact them.
Earlier this week, police searched a garage in Cranbrook Avenue, Bispham, and carried out forensic tests.
Leaflets with details of her disappearance have also been handed out to people living in the area.
Detectives said they were not prepared to go into more detail about what the note said.
Det Supt Kevin Toole, of Lancashire Police, said: "This is the most heavily-resourced major investigation that has been going on in the force over the last 12 months.
"Detectives have been drafted in from across the force and our commitment to finding Paige has not changed since the day she was reported missing.
"Ultimately, we want the same as Paige's family, which is for Paige to return home safety, but sadly as the months and years pass, this is a likelihood that decreases each day.
"We have received an anonymous note of interest which suggests someone knows what has happened to Paige. I am not prepared to disclose the content of this note but it was sent to Bispham police last month and I would urge the person that sent it to get back in touch."
Pub clues
Paige had been known to visit the Station Hotel pub, in thingyson Road, opposite Blackpool's bus station, between summer 2006 and Christmas 2006 and also in April and June 2007.
Police said they believed the pub was a focal point for Paige but needed the people that knew the teenager to contact officers and explain why.
Paige was last seen carrying a blue or purple suitcase and boarding the number 11 bus at Ashfield Road, Bispham.
She is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, with brown hair and a Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck.

Birthday appeal over missing girl
Paige Chivers was last seen boarding a bus near her home
Police in Lancashire have made a fresh appeal for information on a missing teenager on her 17th birthday.
Paige Chivers has not been seen since she left her Bispham home in August 2007 following a family argument.
Officers have released new images of Paige and a video appeal has been published on the force's website.
The investigation into Paige's disappearance is the most heavily resourced inquiry by Lancashire Police in the past 18 months.
'Live' investigation
The new pictures show Paige at a wedding two months before she went missing and on Blackpool beach when she was 13.
Det Ch Insp Dermott Horrigan, of Lancashire Police, said: "Despite the passage of time, we still want people to come forward with information, particularly anyone who has had contact with Paige... since she left the family home on 23 August 2007.
A man was arrested and bailed over Paige's disappearance
"People should be left in no doubt that this is a live investigation and we have many lines of enquiry that are on-going to find Paige."
Officers believe there are people in Blackpool who know what has happened to the teenager.
A £2,000 reward is being offered for any information that helps police resolve the case.
Last week police arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with Paige's disappearance. He has since been released on bail.
Paige is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, with brown hair and a Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck.
She was last seen carrying a blue or purple suitcase and boarding the number 11 bus at Ashfield Road, Bispham.

Fairground clue to missing teen Paige
19 May 2009
By Paul Fielding
MISSING Blackpool teenager Paige Chivers could be working on a fairground, according to police.
Detectives have spent hundreds of hours searching for the 16-year-old since she vanished on August 23, 2007.
But officers now believe the former-Montgomery High School pupil could be with the travelling fairground community.
Det Chief Insp Dermott Horrigan, from Blackpool Police's Major Investigation Team, said: "Visiting fairgrounds was an important part of Paige's life.
"She is an independent, spirited young character and one new line of inquiry we are currently investigating suggests she could be working or associating with the fairground community elsewhere in the country.
"Fairgrounds frequently travel around the country and we remain open minded as to Paige's whereabouts.
"I must stress this is just one of a number of lines of inquiry we are following and we still need people to come forward with information, particularly anyone who has had contact with Paige, or whom Paige has been part of their lives since she left the family home."
The news comes after Paige's case was used to highlight the plight of missing children around the world.
Her image featured on balloons in an arch at South Bank in London as part of an event to commemorate International Missing Children's Day on May 25.
To mark the event, each of the countries involved released balloons displaying photos of missing children from around the world in the hope someone would recognise them. Paige is one of 85 children from around the world whose image was released on balloons into the sky above the capital.
Officers who have worked on her case joined colleagues from around the country and the families of missing children Madeleine McCann, Damien Nettles, Ben Needham and Katrice Lee, at the event.
Kate and Gerry McCann recently marked the second anniversary of their daughter Madeleine going missing from their holiday flat in Praia da Luz, southern Portugal, on May 3 2007, just days before her fourth birthday.
The event also highlighted the launch of a "forget-me-not'' campaign to help bring missing children home.
Every five minutes a child goes missing in the UK, according to child welfare charity Parents and Abducted Children Together.
The charity's attempts to cut that statistic have been given a boost by Tesco, which is selling forget-me-not ribbons, badges and wrist bands to raise funds and awareness.
Det Supt Kevin Toole, who has led the investigation into Paige's disappearance, said: "The main purpose of this event is to encourage the public to remember all the children missing in the UK and around the world.
"I hope it has sent out a message of hope and solidarity to all the families with missing children, particularly Paige's family here in Blackpool."

Paige Chivers missing for two years
A missing teenager who vanished from her Blackpool home two years ago could be livoing with travellers according to police.
Paige Chivers, 17, has been missing since a family arguement in 2007 saw the girl walk out of the family home in Bispham, Lancashire.
One of the five faces to be printed on balloons and banners for international Missing Children's Day, Paige's disappearance remains the most heavily resourced search in the county's police history.
Officers will be going to London to raise awareness of Paige's case and join Kate and Gerry McCann on London's Southbank to release the campaign balloons.
Police claim they have to keep an open mind about her whereabouts and new leads have emerged suggesting she could be with a travelling fairground community.
The International Missing Children's Day, which is organised by the Global Missing Children's Network (GMCN), will take place on 25 May.
Det Ch Insp Dermott Horrigan said: "Visiting fairgrounds was an important part of Paige's life.

Paige is white, around 5ft 5in tall, with brown hair and a Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck.
Detectives have made a number of arrests in connection with her disappearance, but no one has been charged.

Reward Offered To Find Missing Girl Paige
12:47pm UK, Friday August 21, 2009
A £12,000 reward is being offered to help find a teenage girl who vanished from her home two years ago.
Her family have released pictures of Paige as a young girl
Paige Chivers was 15 when she disappeared from her home in Bispham, Blackpool in August 2007.
Her distraught family have released new photographs of her as a young child to help keep the appeal in the public eye.
This Sunday will mark exactly two years since Paige was last seen.
On August 23, 2007 she left home with a bag or suitcase of belongings.
The last corroborated sighting of Paige was at a bus stop on Ashfield Road in Blackpool the same day.
She was reported missing from home by her father, Frank, three days later.
There have been a number of reported sightings of Paige since this date, but none has been confirmed, police said.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Toole said: "We are doing everything possible to find Paige.
"But despite the intensive investigation with a dedicated team of investigators, we still need information from the people who knew or were friends with Paige.
"I remain convinced someone in Blackpool holds the clues that will lead us to her whereabouts.
"An important line of inquiry continues to be around Paige's movements and associates in the months prior to her going missing."
He added: "We continue to keep an open mind during this investigation.
"But as time goes on our concerns have naturally grown for her safety and it is likely at this stage that she could have come to harm."
The new reward has been offered by the Association of British Investigators (ABI). Together with the £2,000 offered by local businesses it brings the total reward to £12,000.

UK store appeal for missing Paige
The posters will appear in Tesco stores across the UK
The appeal for information about the disappearance of a Blackpool teenager is to go nationwide.
Paige Chivers went missing in August 2007, aged 15, after a row at her family home in Bispham.
Her face is now appearing on posters at Tesco stores across the UK and from 30 September will feature on screens at surgeries and hospitals.
Det Sgt Angela Grey, of Lancashire Police, said the potential for new information was "huge".
Detectives are widening the search as part of an initiative between the National Policing Improvement Agency's (NPIA) Missing Persons Bureau, Lancashire Police and Tesco.
Her photograph will also appear on fleets of Emcor vans, a facilities management company covering England and Wales.
Tesco have hundreds of stores across the UK with millions of customers every week so the potential for new information is huge
Det Sgt Angela Grey
Paige left her home in Longford Avenue and boarded a bus in nearby Ashfield Road, heading into the resort.
Despite appeals by her family and cash rewards, police have been unable to confirm any sightings of the teenager.
Detectives believe she is "likely" to have been harmed in some way but say they are keeping an open mind about what has happened to her.
In January 2008 a 53-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder but were released without charge.
Reward offered
A 40-year-old man was released in February this year after had also been arrested on suspicion of her murder.
Ms Grey, from the Lancashire Force Major Investigation Team, said: "Tesco have hundreds of stores across the UK with millions of customers every week so the potential for new information is huge.
"I would also like to thank the NPIA for their support in what is a difficult and long-running investigation."
A £12,000 reward is currently on offer for information which would lead to identifying her whereabouts.
Paige is described as white, 5ft 5in, with shoulder-length brown hair. She has a distinctive Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck and often wears gold hoop earrings and has two small sovereign rings

Missing Schoolgirl: Man Arrested
10:48am UK, Tuesday February 10, 2009
A man has been arrested by police on suspicion of murdering of the missing schoolgirl Paige Chivers.
Missing people: Paige Chivers
Paige Chivers was grieving for her mother when she went missing
The 16-year-old has not been seen since she left her home in Bispham, near Blackpool, Lancashire, in August 2007, following a family argument.
A 40-year-old man from the same village has been detained.
He is being questioned by detectives at Blackpool police station.
In December, Sky News Online featured Paige in a report on Britain's missing children.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Toole, from Lancashire Police's major investigation team, said the inquiry was "ongoing", describing the arrest as "just one line of inquiry we are currently following up".
We continue to keep an open mind and look for evidence as to what has happened to Paige.
Detective Superintendent Kevin Toole
Cash rewards and family appeals have been launched after Paige, then 15, left her home in Longford Avenue on August 23, 2007.
It is thought Paige was struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of her mother, Sheila, 48, in February 2006, when she went missing.
In January 2008 a 53-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested by Lancashire Police on suspicion of murder but were later released without charge.
Det Supt Toole said the arrest was "largely as a result of information received from the public".
He added: "I would like to thank those people that have responded to media appeals for information.
"We continue to keep an open mind and look for evidence as to what has happened to Paige."
There have been no confirmed sightings of the youngster, who turns 17 next Tuesday, and police are still appealing for information on her whereabouts.
She is described as white, 5ft 5in, with a "Playgirl" tattoo on the back of her neck.
She is also said to usually wear gold hoop earrings and two small sovereign rings.
:: Anyone with information should call Blackpool Police on 01253 293933 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Family Release Home Video Of Missing Teen
http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/15224396
1:48pm UK, Tuesday February 17, 2009
Michelle May, UK and Ireland correspondent
The family of a missing teenager have made a fresh appeal for information on her 17th birthday.
Paige Chivers has not been seen since she left her home in Bispham, near Blackpool, following a family argument in August 2007.
Her family have released home video of the teenager at a wedding two months before she went missing.
Police remain convinced that people in Blackpool hold the clues to finding her.
Detective Chief Inspector Dermott Horrigan said: "Despite the passage of time, we still want people to come forward with information - particularly anyone who has had contact with Paige, or whom Paige has been part of their lives since she left the family home on August 23, 2007."
The investigation is the most heavily resourced by Lancashire Police in the past 18 months.
People should be left in no doubt that this is a live investigation and we have many lines of inquiry that are ongoing to find Paige.
Detective Chief Inspector Dermott Horrigan
In January 2008, a 53-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder but later released without charge.
In November, detectives received a letter from a mystery person who claimed to know what had happened to the teenager.
Police did not reveal the contents of the note but urged the person who sent it to get in touch.
A 40-year-old man was released on bail last week after he was arrested on suspicion of Paige's murder.
Paige is described as white, 5ft 5in, with shoulder-length brown hair. She has a distinctive Playgirl tattoo on the back of her neck and a tribal tattoo across her lower back.
Anyone with information should call Blackpool Police on 08451 25 35 45 or the confidential 24 hour charity Missing People on 0208 392 4510 or email media@missingpeople.org.uk.
