MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY

Very very sad his poor family must be in peices, I remember always thinking what a nice and good looking guy he was.

My son has just told me that he has been told that Gary hung himself, if true he must have been in such a terrible dark place for him to do this in his own home were his two boys are...RIP Gary Speed.

Who knows what demons drove him to this when he had so much going for him , what a tragedy what a waste of a young life , my thoughts are with his family .RIP Gary.

That is astonishingly bad news.

Me too, kitti. Several years ago, I witnessed a very tragic suicide, which had a big effect on me. I didn't even know the person, so I can imagine how devastating it would be for small children to witness a parent's suicide.

I'm sure he must have been a loving father but he must have been in a state to do that in his house where his children could find him, l can't understand that - and l have suffered terrible depression.

Without intending to make any suggestions of what might have happened in this particular case, I'm sure that everyone will know that some deaths by hanging are accidental.

Margaret, I'm sorry to hear that you have suffered from depression. I used to say that people who committed suicide were selfish but, when it happened to a family member nearly 12 years ago now, all I could feel was pity for him and sorrow that he hadn't felt able to seek help from anyone - not to mention the guilt of not realising until it was too late the state he'd been in. Obviously I have moved on with my life but there's hardly a day when I don't think of him.

Its said he was an all round good guy and thats the impression i got , i hope the media respect his family wishes and let them come to terms .None of us know why this happened , but the bottom line is a young and talented man is dead and he leaves behind a family who must be devastated.

There will be some dark secret behind this.Just wait and see if the newspapers feel up for searching for it what with the Leveson enquiry going on.
The internet is awash with rumours but i think its a little early to speculate really as he seemed such a nice guy.Must have been something bad though.

The inquest has been adjourned to 30th January so there won't be anything official till then.
