Another bent cop 'on the team'?
Like the phone hacking team where a cop on the team was telling NGN about what they were discovering?
SY would not, i don't think, be telling anyone, let alone possible future suspects, what it is they are doing, would they?
So WHERE is Brunt getting his info from and inadvertingly, or not, keeping the Mcs 'informed' about the 'review'
Perhaps Mr Brunt should be interviewed.
Just a thought.
Sky news has dropped this quicker than it would take to lose a child if you were out drinking with your mates.
Phonecall from the Yard?
Tend to agree - the MET surely would be keeping their cards close to their chests and not letting the world know what they`re following - particularly, they should not be `liasing closely and keeping the McCann`s informed` when they are the prime suspects.

IMO there's absolutely NO REASON for the Met to Metodo 3 about their work in the case....... UNLESS they suspect fraud aswell as homicide.

LONDON -- British detectives have visited Spain to re-examine the disappearance of UK youngster Madeleine McCann from neighboring Portugal, it emerged Monday.
London's Metropolitan Police joined the hunt for the missing girl, who vanished in 2007, following a request by the British government.
The force revealed Monday that detectives working on the case flew to Spain as part of their review and spent three days with police in Barcelona. Officers also traveled to Portugal three times as they continue to hunt for leads.
Police chiefs have vowed there will be no limits to the review of how the little girl disappeared, aged three, from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve.
A huge hunt was launched by Portuguese authorities when she went missing on May 3, 2007 while her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends nearby, but she was never found.
Kate McCann wrote on the "Find Madeleine" website in October, "It is a big relief to us that our government finally agreed for a review to take place. We are grateful to them and to the Metropolitan Police Service for undertaking this fundamental and highly valuable procedure which has been underway now for several months."
Detectives have refused to reveal what led them to Barcelona between Nov. 23 and 25, but a Metropolitan Police spokesman said, "There has been very good co-operation with Portuguese authorities and liaison will continue. We are not prepared to discuss specific details of these visits nor speculate about any future deployments to Portugal or elsewhere."
Police are not believed to have made a breakthrough and are still doing the groundwork of liaising with foreign officers, sources say.
Portuguese detectives, helped by officers from the McCann's home force, Leicestershire Police, carried out a massive investigation into Madeleine's disappearance. But the official inquiry ended in July 2008, after which no police force was actively looking for her.

Hi Margaret,
Metodo 3 would be the most logical Detectives to approach since they did their own investigation and might have some interesting info to
pass on . Remember when I phoned Scotland Yard to ask if the Fund would be investigated I was told "all aspects of the case will be reviewed."
If this happens, Metodo 3 will say they were paid by Kennedy and did not receive the sums quoted. That should be enough for SY to follow the trail and query why NSU did not issue Invoices for any of the Detectives, Smethurst drew up the Contracts and Kennedy employed the
Detectives. Would anyone in their right mind pay £300,000 to Halligen without checking his experience.?

I think you're right Loop... cops need from Spain and Spanish autorities, mobile phone data and perhaps permission to 'search' at some point in the Huelva area, everything needs ironing out before the word 'go'.

The
Madeleine Team Spreads Its Wings
Martin
Brunt December 05, 2011 2:52 PM
The Madeleine McCann review team are certainly clocking up the miles and
expanding their horizons.
Initially we were told that the Scotland Yard review would be largely a paper
exercise, but now we learn three detectives spent a few days in Barcelona last
month.
That's on top of three trips to Portugal since the Prime Minister ordered the
review on the fourth anniversary of Madeleine's disappearance in May, 2007.
Why Barcelona? Perhaps because that was the base of the private investigators
Metodo 3 the McCanns hired at great and mostly fruitless expense.
Or is it because that was the sighting of the Victoria Beckham-lookalike
suspect, seen and heard outside a marina restaurant asking a complete stranger:
"Have you got the girl?".
The Yard is reluctant to discuss details of the latest trip, maybe because
staff are conscious of the expense totting up by its 30-man squad at a time of
severe cutbacks.
Some senior cops felt they were bounced into the "investigative review" by an
over-anxious Prime Minister who responded to pleas from Kate and Gerry
McCann.
In the old days a full-team from the Yard was regularly parachuted in to help
rescue major unsolved crimes, home and abroad.
And I'm sure they are just as welcome in Portugal and Spain as they were in
Pontefract and Stevenage.

Brunty the twunt. Does he really think the Met are going to go on a jolly to Spain to discuss a chance of a sighting that happened years ago?
If they traced this woman then no need to go to Spain, if they didn't well why couldn't everything had been forwarded to the Met for them to trace her?
Something more important than a 'sighting' that came to nothing.
I'm surprised that idiot can present his shite with a straight face.

I"m surprised there isn"t someone permanently in PDL checking all the files, even the shelved ones, much cheaper than flying in and out as
they appear to be doing.
Maybe they were checking up on a lead from the shelved file .

Re: Scotland Yard Officers in Spain - Standard
Scotland Yard, should be concentrating on the perpetrators of this crime...The McCanns, instead of going on wild goose chases in Spain. I could understand them going, if there was a sighting of a child that looked like Madeleine, but if they are following a lead that happened 2yrs ago, then in my opinion, they are wasting taxpayers money.
It looks like Scotland Yard, don't believe Madeleine died in the McCanns apartment, which must be good news for the McCanns, because there is a good chance they will now win their litigation case against Goncalo Amaral. If this gruesome couple fell into a pile of s**t, they'd come up smelling of roses.
I can see the PJ and Goncalo Amaral, being villified once again by the British media. It seems like the PJ are rolling over once again and letting the British Government, make sure the McCanns are never brought to justice.
I'm only reading this information as I see it. I hope I'm wrong.

Hi keepingmum, the Daily Mail is also printing the News so I suspect all the press have been given the information from Clarence courtesy of
the McCanns who have asked to be kept informed.
The whole setup stinks and reminds me the SY Detective told someone the case was being reviewed not investigated.
This couple really are loathsome, complaining about Press intrusion yet all they have done is use the Press when it suits them.

Imo, for what it is worth the Barcelona trip of SY is just a trip with maybe some discussion but little else. There have been many many more "sightings"so why Barcelona? Now if there had been a report that SY were in Huelva looking at cctv camera footage then I would have given a whoop of encouragement. But we all know that that wouldn't have been reported. We all know that Barcelona is insignificant or their tecs at that time would have been working 24/7 on it. Also parents of a missing child would have gone there too. They have jet setted to other places for the bewk and other money, sorry awareness raising visits, so why not a dash to Barcelona?
And finally, Lillyof the Valley, I agree the McCanns should be but let us think of the twins. Christmas for them should be magical not fraught with angst, God bless them.
