Don't fall for this nonsense and red herring Annabel!
The trip to Helluva and the missing 2 hours is the key!
Loopdaloop if SY are onto the missing "2hours in Helluva" then the McCanns will NOT be having a Happy Christmas"
WHY would SY let this infomation out, has it been delibrately released, if so what good is it to be let out into the public domain......unless its to spook someone, to get them spill the beans?
Imo, for what it is worth the Barcelona trip of SY is just a trip with maybe some discussion but little else. There have been many many more "sightings"so why Barcelona? Now if there had been a report that SY were in Huelva looking at cctv camera footage then I would have given a whoop of encouragement. But we all know that that wouldn't have been reported. We all know that Barcelona is insignificant or their tecs at that time would have been working 24/7 on it. Also parents of a missing child would have gone there too. They have jet setted to other places for the bewk and other money, sorry awareness raising visits, so why not a dash to Barcelona?
And finally, Lillyof the Valley, I agree the McCanns should be but let us think of the twins. Christmas for them should be magical not fraught with angst, God bless them.
Yes bobsy you are correct it should be magical for the twins but who has ever considered the twins in this sad case, if they had we wouldn't be here today discussing this case. One thing is for sure any police officers/officials on this case will not consider anyone or anything when it comes to arresting someone or somebody whether it be Christmas, Easter or Weekends.

Is it just me but have the media fallen out with the McCanns? BBC and Sky are using that horrible picture of them and not the devoted couple ones. Are the media hedging their bets in case anything detrimental to them is revealed in Spain? Or, is Rupert hacked off with them for appearing at Leveson, after all he's done for the ungrateful pair?

I think that SY are looking into fraudulant activity such as Metodo 3. Beginning to think this will not be a white wash.

About time and good news. Justice for Madeleine is on the way. Once Scotland Yard gets on the job they will keep going and this could be the undoing of the Tapas9 Co and the McCanns.

Re: Scotland Yard Officers in Spain - Standard
The reporting on this investigation seems to be very disjointed at the moment. We can read that, "...The force has now revealed that detectives working on the case flew to Spain as part of their review and spent three days with police in Barcelona."
In the same report (quoted by Panda, 4.32pm) we get, "...Officers working on the case also travelled to Portugal three times as they continue to hunt for leads."
Is it a review, or is it further investigation? I think the likely reason for the confusion is poor journalism, which we've had to get used to in the UK . However, although it makes sense for Scotland Yard to be involved in the case of a child who went missing abroad, I can't see why the British taxpayer would be expected to fund a three day trip to Spain, on top of three trips to Portugal, unless there was a real chance that new information, beneficial to the UK justice system, would come of it. Either that, or it's irrefutable proof that the McCanns really are getting special, peculiar (as in "distinct from all others") treatment from UK institutions.

You were correct, Panda... Martin Brunt said that was what they were doing... as well as some guff about the Posh Spice lookalike... He also said that SY were rather fed up by being bounced into the 'review' at all by Number 10.
We don't know why this story has come out like this now. Is anything new happening, or has a question been asked in parliament (or elsewhere) under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, which states that there's a right of access to public information? If it's the former, that's great news, whatever the outcome, as any knowledge must be better than endless speculation for those involved; if it's the latter, then perhaps there's a journalist actually doing their job somewhere. If all the trips abroad by a UK police force, which come over four years after Madeleine disappeared, are simply down to special treatment being given to this case, over and above what other crime victims receive, then that really is disgraceful. The Martin Brunt information that's mentioned on here sounds as if he's no idea what's going on himself . He doesn't seem to be offering anything we can't find out by ourselves.

Hi jejune,
This what makes me think it was Clarence informing the Press from info the McCanns received from SY or Cameron. For the Press to be
reporting simultaneously it has to be a Clarence job.

Re: Scotland Yard Officers in Spain - Standard
It is interesting that this story has been leaked now.And i agree it is also interesting that the press have been keen to publish the 'Ugly' picture.
These are ugly people and the more they are kept in the news the better as far as i can see.
Their image is certainly not going to improve. They are on the slippery slope and they are not going to get away with this much longer.

I do hope you are right Steve. Surely it's not possible to silence 30 top police officers? Their instinct is to do their job to the best of their ability. I too, am beginning to be more hopeful that this is the beginning of justice for Madeleine.
BTW, does anyone remember JDomino's prediction that it would be 4 years before there would be justice for Madeleine? Hopefully s/he was right.

Yes, its a review. Its not an investigation. Its not a re-opening of the case, which would require investigation. Its simply a review of all of the evidence to hand, which is why the detective are in Spain and Portugal, as that is where some of the evidence is. All they can do at the end of the day is advise accordingly at the end of their review. They will either advise the case should be re-opened according to what the review of the evidence reveals, or they will advise again re-opening the case. Its possible, when reviewing the evidence, that something was overlooked in the original enquiry, which is all a review does really, it just ensures that all possible lines of enquiry were followed correctly and highlights any areas where lines of enquiry were flawed and where flaws come to light, these areas are re-examined and may lead to new evidence emerging.

Interesting in that the coverage over the world it refers to the Portuguese Police clearing the McCanns of any involvement when the case was shelved.
Except Portugal
"The couple were made arguidos by the Portuguese authorities in 2007, but investigations of the Judicial Police ended with the filing of the case by the Attorney General's Office in July 2008."

I think he is saying that the places that they are going to in Spain are obscure and irrelevant. He's being funny. Or he thinks he is.

Just read the online coverage in the Sun. The final line indicates "Find out more about the search for Maddie at ...." (the find madeleine site). "Please donate now" being the operative wording. Only sympathetic comments printed.

You know this reporting is a load off old crap...the met would have to be pretty stupid to believe all that crap and not believe the dogs....
They went to Spain it's obvious off that, who found out, I don't know but it took two weeks to do so lol so without the phone tapping or bent copper, our 'news' will be two or three weeks behind when it actually happened.

Thanks Annabel......././New Zealand Times eh?
This morning Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns spokesman told MailOnline:
'Kate and Gerry welcome the on-going work by the Metropolitan Police and
they are pleased that the investigative review is making progress.'
Didn"t I say Clarence was behind all this Press release ????
What is it that drives the McCanns to seek publicity at this level while complaining when it suits them? I wonder who "leaked" the info
Clarence.? SY ? the McCanns?

High there.
Haven't been much on here recently.
Just heard on LBC an editor of the Express talking about the SY trips.
It's a load of hot air is the basic inference. More to come, I suppose.

Still, theories abound. In February, Marcelino Italiano, an amateur sleuth, told the British Sun tabloid that Madeleine had been abducted by a pedophile ring based in the Algarve region of Portugal where the McCanns were staying.
“I know these people were involved,” said Italiano, an Angola-born nightclub bouncer. “I have been told that Madeleine may now be in America.”
