Press Complaints Commission (PCC)
I've had a reply from the Administrator at the PCC, thanking me for my email, regarding the Sky News article on their website, about the McCanns and Goncalo Amaral last Sunday. He said their website www.pcc.org.uk explains how the Press Complaints Commission, deals with complaints.
He said that the PCC only investigate complaints about newspapers, magazines and their websites. The PCC does not deal with television and radio broadcasting, or broadcasters websites.
The Administrator said the appropriate regulatory body, to which I might like to direct my concerns is Ofcom. He has given me the address and website of Ofcom. The details are as follows, if anyone wants to contact Ofcom...
Ofcom
Riverside House
2a Southark Bridge Road
London
SE1 9HA
www.ofcom.org.uk
The Administrator also said he was sorry he couldn't be of further assistance in this instance and he said he hoped I would find the PCC website helpful. He said don't hesitate to contact the PCC if I thought they could help me in the future.
I'm very happy with the PCC Administrator's reply to my email at least he read my email and gave me the correct information, which is something the BBC didn't do when I complained about the Jeremy Vine show. By the way when I contacted the BBC complaints department, about the email they sent me regarding Jeremy Vine's offensive comments, they have never acknowledged my email let alone given me an explanation, as to why they sent the first email.
I'm not surprised.

Hi Tanzi, Gillyspot first complained to the PCC and she put the link on here, so I followed her example. I don't know if Gillyspot has had a reply from the PCC. I hope the PCC or Ofcom, were inundated with complaints, regarding Sky News's crass comments. Whoever wrote that article should have been hauled over the coals. They would have been if they made similar comments about the McCanns.

Hi LJC it's a pleasure. I shared the information on here, because I wanted to let posters know that some agencies don't send standard replies, to those who make complaints about certain members of the media.
I remember making a complaint to the PCC a couple of years ago, about a newspaper article. I was told on that occasion, that it was up to the person the article was about, to make a complaint. I can't remember what the article was about or who the person in the article was.
