Body found hanged at Heathrow Airport

An operations manager was found hanged at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5 after reportedly fearing that he could be made redundant after 23 years.
The body of Keith Stone, 50, who was managing a cleaning business that was subcontracted by major airlines, was found hanging from a de-icing vehicle in full view of passengers and staff at the UK’s busiest airport terminal.
According to a colleague the father-of-three was believed to have been battling anxiety after hearing that he would have to re-apply for his role with the Aircraft Service International Group (ASIG) following planned cuts.
He took his own life after emailing bosses outlining his disgust at his treatment after 23 years' loyal service.
A colleague told ‘The Sun’: “Keith was told about the threat to his job two weeks before Christmas.
“He wrestled with anxiety throughout the festive season. The prospect of financial woes proved too much.
“He went to work last Wednesday and emailed his bosses exactly what he thought of them. He then went outside and hanged himself.”
A Met Police spokesman said: "We were called at 11.10am on January 4th to reports of a deceased man who was found airside at Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.
“He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. His death is being treated as non-suspicious and his next-of-kin have been informed.”
“Keith’s commitment, professionalism and good humour will be sorely missed,” said a spokesperson from ASIG.
Mr Stone's funeral will take place in Slough next week.

Re: Body found hanged at Heathrow Airport
It is so sad that the thought of his future financial situation brought him to that. To be told at his age that you must reapply for the job you have been doing for 23 years must have been devastating and no doubt he thought that his age would be against him. The article states that he had email his bosses to tell them what he thought about them before killing himself. I hope that his bosses (and any other company bosses) begin to realise just what devastating consequences their actions may have on their employees in the future.

Loyalty counts for nothing these days , almost half a lifetime in the same job . I feel for his Family and that he made his feelings known,
very sad.

Re: Body found hanged at Heathrow Airport
I had a best friend who owned a company with her husband, they separated but never divorced but my friend began to drink heavily and so the son sort off took over the running off the business.
Anyway, the son was a 'I'm the boss now and what he says, goes'
That attitude lost them a lot off money with the way he worked and lost a lot off 'regulars'
Victor worked for them for 15 years and times were getting hard and they went onto 3 day week so did victor and the only other driver left aswell.
2 months down the line the other driver was found dead in the woods out the back off his house , hanged from a tree.
My dear friend had died a few months before and soon after than victor, who and been a loyal friend and worker was put on a 2 day week which we couldn't afford and he had to leave and what redundancy pay did he get...sod all.....
Loyalty gets you know where, not even with supposedly good friends .....we had known the son since he was born ....30 years....and he treated us like dirt.

Re: Body found hanged at Heathrow Airport
A few years ago, the Ford factory near my house closed down. It had been there for a long long time and some local people had worked there for many years, since leaving school. The factory was a landmark: there was 'Ford's Fields,' the playing fields opposite the factory and the roundabout was the 'Ford's roundabout.' I was in the local newsagents the day it finally shut up shop and there was a man in there who was crying. He said he was in his 50s, had worked at Ford's since he left school and although he'd got good redundancy money, he wasn't going to get another job in his line of work at his age. It was so sad.
