Heathrow and Manchester Airports introduce Body Scanning today.
Today saw the introduction of body scanners at Heathrow and Manchester airports. Passengers that are selected for a body scan will be required to take part otherwise they will be refused from boarding the aircraft and will not be allowed to fly.
The electromagnetic scanners will allow security personnel to detect any items that may pose a risk to flight security. The scanners will be able to see underneath the clothes of individuals who pass through the scanner.
These measures have been brought in after a failed terrorist attempt on Christmas day to bring down an US airliner en-route for Detroit.
