These are "snips" from Wilkins statements when he met Gerry on the evening of the 3rd May.

We returned to our apartment. We decided to spend the evening in, watching television. Our son was awake and unable to sleep. I decided to take him for a walk in his pram. I left about 8:15 to 8:30 pm. I was pushing the pram around the complex and went to the toilet near the bar. I could not see inside the restaurant. As I got the baby to sleep, I was on my way back to the apartment. I came out at the top road.

I met him near the stairs of a ground floor. There was a gate leading up to some stairs. I was pretty certain that he had left the apartment. We spoke for a few minutes. He said you’re on walking duty. I said I was staying in and pros and cons and what to do with the children.

He said that as he was staying two weeks XXXXX he was staying one night… (unreadable)
I don’t remember anyone else walking around with a child. The conversation lasted for about three (3) to five (5) minutes.

They decided to spend the evening in the apartment. Their son was unable to sleep so about 2015hrs, Jeremy took him, in the pushchair for a walk. He walked around the main area of the resort and eventually ended up in the Tapas bar where he used the toilet facility. He was unable to state what time this was. His son was still awake so he walked in the area of the ocean club gardens and walked along the alleyways in that general area. He eventually made his way along Rua Dr Francisco toward the direction of Rua Dr Agostinho. At this time he was walking on the right side of the road passing the Tapas bar area to his left. He noticed the bad street lighting and although it was not completely dark there was enough light to see clearly. As he approached the corner of the McCanns apartment, he saw Gerry appear from the area of the gate. He crossed the road and engaged in general conversation with Gerry. At this time they were stood with Gerry’s back to the building near to the gate and Jeremy facing him. Rua Dr Agostino was about 10 – 15 meters to his right and the pathway leading to the front of the apartment blocks about 5 meters to his left.
He was adamant that he did not see any one else in the area. When spoken to in reference to Jane Tanner walking by, he again stated that he saw no one. He also stated that he did not see or hear anyone to his right. He was aware of the recent picture in the papers re the person with a child wrapped in a blanket and in a males arms alledgedly walking across the junction to his right but again stated that he did not see any one.
The conversation with Gerry lasted for about three minutes during which Gerry was chatty and in his normal self. Jeremy then made his way back to his apartment.

After leaving the WC, I continued to walk around the back of the tennis court, and returned via the pathway opposite the pool in the Tapas complex. Whilst walking the streets, I was hoping my son would fall asleep. Some of the walkways did not have an exit and for this reason I walked practically in circles. When walking one of these paths, I came across a tourist called Curtis with his girlfriend whose name I do not know. He also knew Gerry from the tennis lessons. I remember passing by them but I assumed they were headed to dinner. Eventually, I left one road to the other side of the street to the pool complex, between the McCann apartment and the Tapas Bar. In order to visualise this street, I believe it was the street most used by the news agencies and journalists as all the parked cars indicated during the coverage period.
When I left the street, I remember seeing Gerry on the other side of the same. I believe that there was some speculation in the press regarding the circumstances of this encounter. I remember that I crossed the street to talk to Gerry. According to what I remember, Gerry was walking when I spotted him. As I mentioned previously, I assumed that he had gone to check on the children and was headed back to the Tapas Bar.
From what I remember, the conversation happened right there on the pathway but I am not certain who was located exactly where.

ETA Is it possible that this was just made up about Gerry fiddling with the shutters before Madeleine disappeared and not the DW statement (I think it was) that it was after Madeleine disappeared that he was fiddling with the shutters.

So if we have it, and its a big IF.
On the night of the 3rd May 07,
Two independant witnesses.
Mr Martin Smith and Mr Jeremy Wilkins.
Both see Gerry acing suspicously.
If it is indeed confimed by SY that
Wilkins did see him 'tampering' with
the shutters and Smith did see him
running off with a child. Then, I think
Gerry is fooked. No two ways about it.

So Jez confirms he saw Gerry appear from the gate and he (jez) crossed the road to speak to him. To me that is paramount in the Tanner sighting. They were all on the same side of the street and yet neither Jez nor Gez saw her! Absolutely impossible surely. But then of course in the re-enactment Edgar said it was important. FGS of course it's important. Three people on one side of the same street and she flip flopped by unseen. Pull the other one.

Not only did they have to cut the actress playing Kate from the show, it's a wonder they didn't scrap that scene also. But they couldn't, could they, because that's the only sighting of the faceless one. Still Donal has 2 abductors so where was his mate when eggman, with the same gait as Murat, walked across the top of the road. Still hiding in the bedroom, behind the door or the sofa.

Why don't Donal and Jez do another show together: My Big Fat Gypsy Abductor x 2!

Nothing had Madeleine's DNA on in 5a that is why the PJ had to send to Rothley for a pillowcase for a sample of her DNA.

And yet PJ made no arrests.
No DNA of the child anywhere, and they let the father leave the country.to get a sample.
Gordon Brown cannot be blamed for that.
This is beyond belief, have a feeling I am going to upset Claudia again.

I need something much bigger and a lot more important than you to upset me. If those I love are well and healthy, then I am as happy as I can be. The rest are insignificant details. But I'm glad to know I'm on your mind. (An excellent article) The Macintryre Peice on the Mccanns (that someone just deleted) - Page 2 192282

Claudia.

The last person allegedly to see the child was the father.
His evidence was that he recalled how beautiful she looked, so he quite clearly seen her.
The bed he alleges to have seen her in, is subsequently found to contain none of the childs DNA
So they send the father to get some.
You may be happy with that but I am not.

That's what it might look like to us. Who else knows what was going on in the minds of the PJ. I don't believe that ANY police force in the world would trust a suspect to produce his own DNA sample. No policeman anywhere is that gullible.

Claudia, please accept my apologies, I have no intention of making personal comments about the views of others and never intend to offend.
My frustration lies in the fact there was enough evidence to suggest these bunch of miscreants were lying long before the EVDR dogs arrived.

Officers attached to the new investigation, which the McCanns long campaigned for, are hopeful that answers can be found. They are keen that he fifth anniversary in three months' time will generate more public leads and information to shed light on the baffling mystery.

Donal obviously doesn't know that the "M" word is actionable by CR.

Angelique wrote:As regards the latest from MacIntyre - perhaps he's looking for work?

However, I am interested in the "sniffer dogs" originally brought in to follow a possible trail. I am pretty sure they led the Police to 5J - I am sure I have read this. It was decided the dog/s had smelt rotting food. But will chase this up if I can. I think that 5J was used for something else. I wonder if either this was really the apartment the McCanns resided or Madeleine was in there at some point.

Hi Angelique, here's a bit of a summary re the GNR and Human search & rescue dogs deployments.

The Report states that GNR Tracker Dogs were used and Search & Rescue Dogs were also requested because they are specially trained to find humans.
4th May 02.00 - The first GNR tracker dogs were deployed..

The Report reads as though the first dog was given a blanket used by Madeleine to sniff in order for the dog to retrieve her scent.
The search began at apartment 5a and block 5 was searched or at least the corridors etc., the dog stopped at apt 5J then changed direction toward block 4.
At the corner of Block 5 it turned left heading for the path between the buildings and the leisure area - pools and restaurant - going on to turn left and around the building, setting out for the main street, crossing the road to the wall of Block 6.
There it turned right - going down the road - taking itself to the car park next to Block 6 where its search took it to a lamppost where it then became confused and stopped the search.
The second dog was submitted to the same operation, also showing interest at door of 5J, namely it scratched with it front paws at the veranda parapet and lifted its head to sniff the air to find a scent.

7th May - “The Commander, Officer Silva, took part in a meetings with the PJ Directorate, being asked by the PJ about the viability of giving the girl’s clothes to the dogs for the dogs to sniff again, and if by means of the odour inhaled, they would be able to mark an identical odour in one of the resort’s apartments even though its door was closed.”

“ Around 23.00 the first dog was given items of Madeleine’s clothing to sniff and followed the scent trail to apt 5J and like the other dogs it’s behaviour changed.
This was repeated using a second dog which again followed the same scent trail and reacted the same way as the other dog. “
-From the report ; “In a conversation with the GNR team ( the tracker dog team ) who were on the scene first, they advised that on the 4 May they had done the same work, with no control over the direction taken by the dogs, i.e. they were not directed into the buildings, it being certain that they took the same route described above, with the same attitude, losing the trail next to the car park of Block 6.”

“In this concrete situation, the objective would be for the dogs to carry out a discontinuous search, in other words, to sniff the girl’s clothes and immediately search near to the apartments, checking to see if there was any change in the behaviour of the dogs.”

8th May- The GNR team performing the search had in its possession, packed in a plastic bag, a towel supposedly used to clean the missing youngster - Madeleine McCann - furnished by her parents.
- After the conditions for the search are met, the two GNR officers - the leader and the dog handler - gave the scent towel to one of the dogs to smell and led it into Block 5.
-From the Report ; “The GNR team performing the search had in its possession, packed in a plastic bag, a towel supposedly used to clean the missing youngster - Madeleine McCann - furnished by her parents”

10th may - During the last deployment on the 10th May all the apartments were searched by the dogs and when they arrived at apartment 5 J they began to sniff with intensity at the entrance door. During this behaviour it was noted by the PJ officers that there must be some unusual odour, but which with all certainty did not have anything to do with the odour being searched for, but there must have been something strange inside.
-From the Report ; “ On 10th May at about 20.10, upon the request of the PJ, searches were carried out in all of the apartments belonging to blocks 4 and 5 of the OC, two tracker dogs and two search and rescue dogs being used for this operation, adopting the same methods as those used on 7th May,”

-Three different items were used as target scents – items used in order for the dogs to retrieve the specific scent they are trained to locate and follow. These were a towel, clothing belonging to the missing child and a blanket.

-From the Report ; “It was only when all the searches of the apartments in blocks 4 and 5 were complete, that the behaviour described above was registered. It is certain that this kind of work does not correspond to the area that these dogs were trained in, but given that these types of dogs manage to discriminate a specific odour from others, although it could be a remote possibility that they related the odour of the missing girl with a possible location where she could have been.”

The human scent they are trained to locate is cellular debris believed to be a result of perspiration combined with skin oils that serves as a breeding ground for bacteria found on our skin / skin cell’s , culture , diet , environment , and race are also influences unique to the individual and account for the singularity of a persons scent and which also forms the basis of the human scent trail. Human’s loose approximately 4000 skin cells a minute and each one is unique to the individual.

Donal obviously doesn't know that the "M" word is actionable by CR.

Tony Bennett posted on CMOMM:

Madeleine Foundation statement on our website, January 2010:

“The fact is that the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains a mystery”

Letter from Isabel Hudson of Carter-Ruck, 5 February 2010:

“The statement on your website ‘The fact is that the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains a mystery’ constitutes a further actionable libel. Readers of your website will have understood this statement to mean that there are indeed grounds to suspect our clients of having caused the death of their daughter and having conspired to cover this up”.

Clarence Mitchell 19 February 2010, interviewed on TV after Goncalo Amaral lost his appeal against the banning of his book:

“The search for Madeleine will not stop. Kate and Gerry will not give up until they know what’s happened to their daughter, and, at the moment, it remains a complete mystery…”

http://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t4332-is-it-libellous-to-say-that-madeleine-s-disappearance-is-a-mystery

How on earth can Isabel Hudson of CR claim that it is 'actionable libel to state ‘The fact is that the disappearance of Madeleine McCann remains a mystery’? Of course it is a mystery or, to borrow Clarence's words, 'A Complete Mystery'....AND THAT IS A FACT.

It could look to some therefore that Isabel Hudson has made herself look rather a fool by what she put in her letter to TB, he could use the examples of Donal and CM to illustrate this.

I hope he does.

If Isabel Hudson is insisting that Madeleine's disappearance ISN'T a mystery (to her, at least), then that implies that she knows plenty that we don't about what happened.

Perhaps Carter Ruck should be giving SY the benefit of this esoteric knowledge in order to save those guys a lot of unnecessary work.
It would sure beat the hell out of spending all those hours monitoring the internet for trumped-up 'libel' and threatening retired people with jail.

One of the directors of the Madeleine Foundation instructed carter ruck to remove one of my posts on Jills that was merely explaining the procedure of how Facebook works!

and also instructed them to remove posts asking for him to take responsibility in his position as a director of a public monies donated fund!

Think this says it all really!

I do too. Think we are all probably thinking the same thing with apartment 5J

But...seeing what we can see I have to ask why the PJ did not seemingly enter the apartment? If there was any sign that something was suspicious in there days after a child goes missing, surely they would have gone inside to investigate, if only to eliminate from the investigation. Mark Warner/OC would have the information on who owns it and if the owner was not there then they would have forced entry being the strong suspicions that the dogs indicated. I find this whole thing to 5J totally peculiar and something is amiss here

ELI

Many thanks for your post with report of searches.

I have read somewhere today, having slight memory loss, that they did in fact enter said 5J apartment and there was a fridge which had vegetables and other stuff which was rotting. Can't remember where I read this but will search again not able to access my Mac at the moment.

Angelique here's something from Mccannfiles about apartment 5J

After Rex was given the girl's clothing to sniff, he began to search on the ground floor of block 5 and when he passed the door of apartment 5A (the place the girl had disappeared from) according to his handler, officer Fernandes, the dog altered its behaviour, sniffing with greater intensity than he had done before. Apartment 5J of the same block was also checked as the dog had been more agitated than before as if there were a very strong strange odour there. It was stated that this apartment had been unoccupied for some time. Afterwards, the same kind of search was carried out using the dog Zarus which in general terms showed the same behaviour in the same places as Rex had done.

All the apartments were searched by the dogs and when they arrived at apartment 5J they began to sniff with intensity at the entrance door. During this behaviour it was noted by the PJ officers that there must be some unusual odour, but which with all certainty did not have anything to do with the odour being searched for, but there must have been something strange inside.

After entering the apartment, it was observed that the odour came from close to the fridge, which was open and contained some rotting meat and vegetables.
