KATE MCCANN'S NEW BOOK
Kate McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-seller, Madeleine
Sunday February 12,2012
By Sunday Express reporter
KATE McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-selling hardback book, Madeleine, writes Tracey Kandohla.
It is thought the new book, set to be published in the spring, will include details about the Scotland Yard review of her daughter’s kidnapping.
It will be published shortly before the fifth anniversary of three-year-old Madeleine’s disappearance in Portugal on May 3, 2007. The hardback raised £2million for the Madeleine Fund. More than 280,000 sold in Britain. Thousands more have been sold around the world in countries such as Australia, Spain and Portugal.
Kate hopes the paperback will be a hit with British holidaymakers over the summer. Kate, 43, a doctor, said: “Somebody holds that key piece of the jigsaw. I am hopeful that this book may help the investigation. It might prompt someone who has relevant information, maybe without even knowing it, to come forward.”
Her publisher Alison Barrow, from Transworld said: “Kate’s first book was a phenomenal success. It achieved astounding sales, especially for a first-time author, and it was the number one book in Britain for weeks.

Just how much longer is the intelligence of the public to be insulted by this kind of tish put out in defence of a pair of irresponsible child neglecting doctors?
Kate could have taken this 'one step' 5 years ago instead of strolling on the beach, jogging or refusing to answer legitimate questions put to her by the Portuguese police.

Re: Kate McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-seller, Madeleine
The paperback didn't appear to sell very well and I'm sure that £2 million was not raised for the fund. Anniversaries have been money-raising opportunities for the past five years and this fifth anniversary is obviously no exception.
Re: Kate McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-seller, Madeleine
So basically it is not a new book and if the SY review is ongoing it is unlikely to include anything of substance in that respect.

If 280K copies were sold in the UK most of those were sold for no more than £10 each - £2.8m. No sales figures are quoted outside the UK but I would hazard a guess it was less than 50-100K. It is difficult to believe they got the lion's share of sale proceeds.

Re: Kate McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-seller, Madeleine
If they are declaring that £2 million has been raised for the fund shouldn't this reflect in both the publisher's and the fund's accounts for the period? Also it would highlight the lie of the continuous statement from the McCanns that the fund was down to its last few pounds and the production of their begging bowls.

Re: Kate McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-seller, Madeleine
I have never seen the paperback of her book anywhere. Supermarkets tend to sell only the top 20 or so paperbacks and Kate's book was never in that category. I looked for it in Waterstone's and WH Smith's butdidn't see it. Unless it was tucked away on shelves in those stores, it wasn't there. I looked under what I thought might be the obvious categories: memoirs, autobiograpy, myths and legends. It wasn't there.
Re: Kate McCann is working on an updated paperback version of her best-seller, Madeleine
Will it include the attempted destruction of both Tony and Amaral? The court cases against anyone who dares question the abduction theory? I really doubt it.

So, a sort of auto-cue, or aide-memoire, then?

Is she implying that British holidaymakers are thicker or more gullible than any others and are likely to fall for a second helping of codswallop?
I'm not sure if you're in the United Kingdom AnnaEsse but I'm confident that the book has not yet been issued in a paperback version here. It is available in the Irish Republic though.

You keep hammering that home Team McCann, but it isn't going to change one single persons mind, nor alter the blood and cadaver dog alerts that occurred all over your holiday apartment and possessions!!!

I think you are correct anna Ive just found this on FB....
"Thrilling news. It did NOT make £2 million for the fund. Any check with the AAA or Society of Authors will prove this, that she received a regular percentage of publishers receipts, as is normal with any mass-produced book, where retailers ask for 60% purchase discounts".

I'm in the UK. Hasn't it been released here in paperback?

High everyone,
Back for one of my brief visits.
sorry about the pun, is all about money, and I doubt they have received 2 million squid for the fund.
How gullible are people these days !
Maybe Abraham Lincoln had a point

The paperback hasn't been released yet - but it was always planned. Updated just means it will probably carry a preface with some details about 'developments' in the case over the past year.

At least "kidnapping" is a different way of misrepresenting Madeleine's disappearance.

I wonder if anyone from the SY Review team will be reading or taking note of this anouncement, they wouldn't want to be mentioned in the new bewk as "F*****g T*****s would they!!!

Is it going to be the same version of the truth, or a different version of the truth?

According to Amazon, the first mention of the paperback being available from April 2012 in the U K was in November 2011; advance orders were being accepted.
